      Mihai Petcu Are you choosing between a 50ish mm and a 85mm?
      What do you like to shoot? :)

    What a great video!! This is exactly how I would have compared the two lenses if I had them, no B-roll fo the lenses or locations, just simple and great picture comparison. Keep it up!!

    Thanks, I'm edging toward 85mm. But in that case I guess full height portraits are out of the question in not too big indoor/apartment spaces?

      Hey Men!
      Yeah I think so as well.
      You'll need to be around 4-5m away from your model to get it at full length.

      What camera are you using?

    • @andrem2976
      @andrem2976 Před 4 lety

      DasignArts I chose the 55mm 1.8. I’m using the A7iii. The 85 is a great lens but when you want to get versatile with your shots the 85 limits that. The 55 is much more versatile and you proved that. Thanks again :)

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  Před 4 lety +1

      @@andrem2976 Nice men. Cool that you figured it out for you. :)
      Yeah, the 55 is super good. There is a difference in looks to the 85: Background Compression for example, that I forgot to mention in the Video. But still, the results you get from both lenses can be very similar. In the end it's about what feeling you can create through your shots and story. And since the 55 is a little more versatile, it's more likely to get the shots you want. And in the end you can lend an 85 from a friend or rent it for some little money if needed. :)

    Hello :D, Have you try 55mm in crop mode how does the difference.?

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey there :)
      the big difference will be that you will have less bokeh with the 55 in crop mode. And you'll end up with only 10-12mp image instead of 24. For most things 10-12mp are enough! But you'll have the big compromise in the feeling of the pictures because you can't isolate your subject that well. :)

    But what happens with the FOV if you crop the 55? Does it narrow the FOV about the same?
    btw: next time I would prefer the comparison pictures beside each other instead of flicking back and forth

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  Před 4 lety +3

      Hey Cedric,
      The FOV is actually not affected by cropping in using APS-C mode. It's the same as cropping in software. You'll have more background compression on the 85mm though.
      I forgot to mention that part of the differences in the video. Thanks for the reminder.
      Also, seeing the pics side by side makes sense. Thanks for the hint.
      Have a nice day :)
