  • Hi! In this video, I am comparing two violins that were made 100 years apart.
    The first violin is my partner in crime, the 1921 Carl Becker.
    The second violin is a 2020 copy of the 1736 Guarneri Del Jesu, sent to me by Mio Cannone Violini, an online store that has an incredible collection of violins made by the most sought-after makers in the world.

    I love your Becker violin, I feel it is more powerful and more clear. I feel the other violin is a little more shy. The violin sounds nice, but it feels like the sound waves are getting blocked by an imaginary bubble and it can’t break free

      Interesting how different people hear so differently! Some are saying the Amorim is too bright, some are saying it's to shy. Thanks for your opinion!

    Wow!!! This ending is so captivating! If there's a particular favorite, it would have to be the 1921 Carl Becker violin because the sound is beautiful & bright, and also I love the baroque period, generally Bach. I always love Bach and planning to give it a listen on my way to university.

      Well, I’m a little biased because Becker is my instrument, so thank you :)

    For the first part i liked the 2020 violin better! To me, the sound is more clear and vivid.
    However, for the Bach part i liked the 1921 violin way better than the new one... the violin feels like a swan dancing on the water so beautifully which is the exact definition of 'elegance' 🥺 .
    In a nutshell if i could choose one, i would say the Carl becker violin is way more sparkling ✨

    Awesome session. Wow. You made that tough at the end to pick a winner. I was all the way going with the Becker, but that rock session kinda brought both close.
    Ok. Becker wins for the Bach session!

      @MmmAnastasy  Před 2 lety +1

      Making it tough was kinda the goal 😂 Becker did pocket the Bach though, so yay!

    Cool vid. I liked both instruments. But the new one does sound immature. A bit harsh and bright. The Carl Becker sounds smoother and well rounded. Tough to tell from a video though.

      Always tough to tell from a video, but I used the best equipment I had available to make it as close to live as possible. I'll tell you what, sometimes it's just as hard to hear the little differences in person, too :)

    The harmonics on the 1921 one were for sure much more clear and resonant. But like she said, for the rich bass, the 2020 one is amazing

    Hi like the video how come the 2020 violin has one tuning thing and the old one had 4 tuning things at near the bridge. i know you can tune with the pegs but I'm afraid to since it's school violin

    I cannot tell the difference. The Bach sonata comparison was played in different rooms on different days. I would only consider the condition and the investment potential of a violin. Any violin can be tuned and adjusted to make it sounds as you like.

    The Becker is richer.... buttery.
    Both instruments sound wonderfull in their own right; that sayed, i prefer the Becker.
    Maybe in 30 years the new one will mellow out a bit?

    • @MmmAnastasy
      @MmmAnastasy  Před 2 lety +2

      newer instruments are often much brighter! Some people prefer that. Both of these are definitely powerful, each in their own way.
      Would be cool to play the Amorim again in 30 years to compare :)
