    Sooo very excited.. my Magic Marine Smart harness arrived today! Getting ready to sail my restored '85 H16 cat. I've never sailed a 16 before or a cat with jib or trapezed on the wire. I'm excited and terrified at the same time, like the time last year when a 50' whale swam under my '89 H14 as I sailed in light winds and could see it under the cat! Whooa! Cheers

    Jokes apart, the Magic Marine _Smart_ harness you are showing is great ! 👍
    Unless you are a _"Racing Hero"_ you don't need anything more fancy than that. And even if you actually are, you won't need more than that either 😉

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  Před 4 lety

      I think unless you're doing some serious hours on one tack, the smart harness is enough - or if you have a back problem - you can get more support with a juicier model.

    2 questions: 1/ how can you improvise one? 2/ can you do it yourself from a windsurf one?

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  Před 4 lety

      Yes, we used to use windsurf seat harness' all the time. It's ideal if you can change the hook to a boat style hook which is slightly more closed.
      one for the next top tips video!

  • @mrwhatevz8907
    @mrwhatevz8907 Před 3 lety

    Hey Joe, where does the hook go when it dehooks? In the ocean? And then we need to replace them? Or does it stay on the trap line, cheers.

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  Před 3 lety

      Yes, sadly the hook generally gets lost which is why you only pull the release if you're in a compromising situation. If it's the difference between remaining stuck and having to get a new hook

  • @ct9040
    @ct9040 Před 2 lety

    How comfortable is this for sitting on the boat and general moving around the watercraft in bent over positions

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  Před 2 lety

      I've been wearing them for so long that i hardly notice them.
      If it's hot - no wetsuit I generally wear 2 pairs of shorts which makes it much more comfortable.

    hi joe, thank you for talking about this topic.
    Personnally i have a problem : i am a bit tall, and large...(1,83m, 120 kgs) I do buy the sail marine 2016 XXLarge, but it is to tight at the belly and the legs. I am deseperatly looking for an XXXL size and for now, didn't find one.
    do you have a suggestion? (no, i cannot do a diet ;) )

      cornebistouille , I got some webbing the same width as the harness webbing and found the matching buckles and extended all the straps. It cost about $15. You may have to get creative with the padding, but it works for us.

    How tall are you Joe? I see your harness is a Large. The reason I ask is that I am about to order a harness like yours from overseas. I'm about the same weight as you and 5'9" tall. The Magic Marine size chart has me at the low end of Medium. But the guy selling them thinks an XL would suit me. I'm probably erring towards Large.

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  Před 4 lety

      Yes, Large will be the right choice i think - i'm about 5'10 and it fits perfectly.
