everything that the pros tell you to do, popping the shields on bearings, not putting 1/8 inch shock pads to prevent pressure cracks and not using the bearing spacers to keeps the axels from slipping is to keep you buying more product so the companies make more money. A lot of skate stuff is very expensive and if you maintain it and use the parts properly it will last you way longer.
@@DFunct905 I personally feel that getting things for free doesn't excuse you from having some sort of appreciation for the things given to you but yes there are some cases like that where people just don't care about material possessions enough to maintain them but know that companies actually do have meetings strategizing ways to make every penny they can, and using their pros to promote certain things is a tactic, and also pros having easy access to gear doesn't make it ok for there to be this running theme in skateboarding to call people "posers or lame" for being intelligent about their setup or even for just being a beginner who is just starting out, I always found that strange as if that person at one point wasn't a beginner who needed to be guided. All in all a skateboard is like a car and needs to be maintained for the parts to perform well....imagine leaving the shock pads off a car because it looks cooler or because they can send you another shipment of parts.

Bro, use the bearing spacers. Im 240lbs at the moment, and they help with torsional forces. I have a 10 year old set of bones Swiss with the spacers, and theyre hands down better than the reds and cheeps I have on other set ups.

I basically agree with that, but I personally think it’s more that pros don’t have to pay for their gear so they don’t care if it falls apart faster.
