Thx for the tutorial i just hate it when a random object drops from the sky and hits my shoulder
It happens way too often.
Metal Triops
lmao
Lol
In a steampunk world- knowing how much crap might fall from them airships yeah id prolly need it
I love your humour, and your templates. I made the mech arm for Halloween last year, but I gave it a cyberpunk cyborg feel. I'll add this shoulder plate for this year's Halloween.
This looks amazing! Can't wait to add it to my steampunk metal arm!
Honestly, I don't think there is a youtuber that I enjoy seeing more than you. It makes my day instantly better when your video appears in my feed. Thanks for that, it helps me go through the daily doom and gloom immensely :)
Awww, that means a lot to me. I like to think that somehow my videos could make the world a little better place 🙂
@@LostWax Definitely a brighter one, no doubt there. Keep it up :)

at least you'll always have your virginity
Long time no see my friend!!!! AWESOME TUTORIAL!!!! I love the stuff that you make, you are a true professional!!! You need to be working in Hollywood!!!
Yep, it's been a while, I am trying something a little different this year- more patterns which unfortunately means fewer videos. But hopefully, that will serve my customers better. We'll see how it goes.....
This looks incredible. Love your videos.
Thank you❤️
Yay! Just finished the arm and my husband loves it.
Congratulations!!
Your videos and antics just make me happy. Thanks for that.
No problem, thanks for watching!
Love, love, LOVE your videos Chris... every time you bring something new and exciting to the table! Really blown away by the sneak peak at the fantasy shoulder guard... I can’t decide which one I like the most 🤔. Guess I’m greedy coz I really want both! Thanks again for sharing your incredible talent 👍🏻😄.
You can make both! one for each shoulder 🙂
The gift card technique is brilliant!
Wow that looks fantastic
It looks fantastic! Can't wait to start making one!
Nice!
I love you and your work! I've been watching your stuff for years and I love the creativity you give us!
Thanks for sticking around and supporting my channel, I really appreciate it!
Wow this looks pretty cool
Hot damn. Nice. Very well produced and very friendly, well played sir. Well played.
Thank you!
This editing is superior
it's perfect I made this and the steampunk arm and put them together and they look amazing together
Ok, this is really cool!
Oh love the shoulder guard! I made your arm piece and love it!
Great!
Chris, This video is such a great blend of how-to and entertainment and it is such a cool build! I love your channel! You put out such great stuff. So inspiring!
I am glad you like it!!
This is so DIY and it's so good
Thanks for this vid I like all your videos. This will definitely be a piece that will be on my list of things to try.
Contact cement also works great for attaching the pieces and holds super well!
Definitely! Just make sure you have good lung protection:)
Thx for making this vid I love that you use such simple tools that I have most of and you are so creative so you really inspire me to create foam armour Thank you
Awesome! Thanks for your feedback. That's always been my goal, to keep things as simple and cheap as possible!
I'm pretty new to the world of cosplay, and I really want to do some armored characters, but I've always felt that foam work was way out of my depth. Your tutorials are so approachable, that I don't feel that way at all anymore, so thank you!! Looking forward to using this tutorial soon!
Ahh, that's great to hear! I love it when people get inspired to try something new!
It blows my mind how real your work looks 😍
Thanks Kim. Maybe it's cause I spent so much time with real metal, It's burned into my brain.....
@@LostWax I wouldn't doubt it! 😁👍
Pretty awesome and love the humor lol
Dang son looking like a metal snack
Always love your work , Thank you a lot!
Thanks for watching👍
really nice work
wicked looking thing
Just came across your videos, you have inspired my wife and I to start creating one of your amazing patterns. Thank You . Bison
Aww, that's so cool! Have fun making!!
Love it and it kind of looks like a Lego puzzle
That intro though 😂
Just had to let you know, love your humour!
Great tutorial!!!
Awww, thanks!
I just discovered your videos and they are awsome.
My daughter keeps wanting me to make her costumes like transformers and hiccup from how to train a dragon, you've given me heaps of great ideas on how to actually tackle such a massive project - thanks.
Awww, I am so glad it's been helpful!
Awesome dood!
Awesome!
Excelente, saludos desde México, un like
Loved the intro.
This looks awesome!
and you are funny too :)
Hehe, thanks!
This looks so nice, I can't wait to start working on it. If I am using it with the mechanical arm, do I still use the lower "pauldron flat" I think it's piece #5?
Nope, leave that piece out, it just gets in the way.
Awesome! Wonder if a Predator suit could be made from EVA foam?
OMG I this what I'm thinking about
Fellow Canuck here and new subscriber. Great vid.. thanks for sharing.
Hi fellow Canadian person! Thanks for subscribing😁
Formidable comme réalisation, j'aimerais beaucoup le faire pour une prochaine soirée !Mais avez vous des fiches explicatives pour réaliser ce bras d'armure ?
I like that there is a point where we can turn it into anything we want, though steampunk is what we want so... :p
hehe...
WOAH ive been thinking of making a costume of one of my characters who has a robotic/mechanical arm but not having ANY idea of where to start with it and then google just.. reccomends me this!!!
cool
you are the best
“Glue the dart about 5 cm at a time” or use contact cement.
My son and I will have to build this Shoulder Armour. Absoluty great that it fits the mechanical arm. But first we have to finish the Jet Pack.
Nice. One thing at a time😁
Looks cool but i think feet are the second thing to protect from falling objects.
I guess shoes work pretty well though
Have you ever think of making it samari head dress
omg.....you are so cool. im so impressed. i wish you could tell me where i can get that eva foam from, i live in NZ
Not sure about NZ.... Any New Zealanders out there that can help?
Hello from Russia! We are liking your channel very much ! This Shoulder and Dive helmet help us to win the festival cup! Thank you! Keep doing your arts, its awesome :) tcheremin and others from Moscow Steampunk society
Awesome, congratulations!!
Hi Chris, I love your ideas, and I have your bundle. Could you give me any idea for gloves? Thank you!!!!
You should try using contact cement, it’s stronger than hot glue and works well on foam usually, we use it in theater all the time
I started off using contact cement, and it definitely has it's benefits. The main downside is the fumes, which I really don't want to subject myself and my family to. Now that I have used hot glue for years, 7 times out of ten, I would still pick it over contact cement even if the fumes weren't an issue.
I made it! 🎉🎉 well I invented some stuff and eliminated one thing... but the result was fantastic! thanks to you! 🎉👏
Glad it worked out for you!!
Where did you get the foam mat from?
Im making this to compliment the mechanical arm i made a few months ago (lostwax arm) and im almost done. This pattern is just as awesome as his arm, and im guessing all of his patterns. Its turning out great because of his easy to understand videos and .pdf, hes super helpfull too if you have questions. I altered this slightly to fit my theme which is “alien bounty hunter” to be worn at the upcoming ufo fest parade.
Thanks for the kind words, I am glad you are enjoying the build!
Thanks for this tutorial. This is awesome. Im wondering where can I download the pattern?
Hi there, here's a link to my website with all my patterns: www.lostwaxoz.com/shop
Excellent. In which program you create and print templates? Thanks
I use affinity designer to digitize my templates. They are designed by hand first.
Using Bargs contact glue works much better than hot glue and creates tighter seals.
Love this tutorial! Is there a way to purchase just the base shoulder or would I just have to use the steampunk one and skip the ending steps?
I don't have the base for sale separately, so yes, just leave out all the fancy bits and you are good to go!
@@LostWax great thanks! Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing a link, great work!
Quick question about 6.11 when you put the pauldron webbing through. How do you fix it on the underside of the shoulder? Just glue?
Yep, just hot glue. Make sure to roughen up the foam though for good adhesion
Do you also have a tutorial about a leg piece?
not yet.
You are so damn funny why is no one truly appreciating this
You appreciated it. That's what counts. Thanks for watching and commenting:)
what foam should i use?
Cool video. One thing I can't figure out is how you keep that on your shoulder without it falling off.
Yeah I guess I don't have a strap attached to it for some of the video clips. It really does need the strap though.
Where did you find the classic lawn jart?! I haven't seen one of those in *years* .
Good vid, btw. 😃
I actually made it:) I didn't want it too heavy since I was going to be dropping it on me. That being said, I still have a set of classic lawn darts in my garage that I rescued from my parent's house😁
Hehe...
I love steampunk.
Chris is the pattern oriented for the right or left shoulder?
If I remember correctly, I made it for the left- same as the mech arm pattern. But easy to flip it over for the other arm.
If i show a mechanic this will he understand this? I really wanna make this :( . Cause I am bad at this stuff.
i love uu!
Hey how long does this take? I want to know exactly how last-minute I can make this
Mmmm, it's probably not a last minute style build:) I can't really say how long it takes as I was building and filming at the same time. The base shoulder armor is pretty quick- I'd say a couple of hours, but the details are the part that takes the time.
Hi - could I make this using 10mm foam? Thanks.
You can, though the finished piece will fit a bit smaller.
I had to make a shoulder guard for a costume a few months back, it took forever to make Becuse I had no idea what I was doing!
True, anything you have to make from scratch seems to take way longer than it should 😁
How do I get the template please
living in Phoenix AZ, I can't really use hot glue as I have had parts come apart during the summer.
"Cutting out and putting back in, but just not putting all the way back in" Yes, the secret technique. The name is suuuper misleading, trust me.
damn I'm making this in the style of Skyrim
Omg this is so sick. I might have to edit the design a bit to fit over my not so manly chest... Any tips for that? I don't want it to be an obvious boob-plate but it does need to fit...
The shoulder and arm look quite like Ed Elric
good day Mate
G'day!
I have a gas mask ,a steam punk gun ,and now a shoulder and a leather jacket pad time for cosplay at school
Can you pls make a full bodied Iron Man suit like this??
mmmmm..... maybe I'll have enough parts to make a whole body.....
a dog fell on one of my friends once, an dislocated his shoulder...
Omg that's terrible! I hope the dog was okay.
Who? The friend or ur dog
Great for a god of war costume
Hi, i want to buy all the pack of the steampunk pieces but i have a request. if i buy it can i have the pieces in vectors? without the pages cuts. i want to cut the pieces on laser. hope you can answer ty
Hi there, yes, I do supply vectors to people when they request them, as long as they are not going to distribute the files:) If you buy the patterns, just send me an email, and I can supply the vectors for whichever patterns you are making.
Lost Wax Hey, i just bought it but i can't find your email. I sent you a message on instagram. Hope you can answer
@@mikepantoja1113 Hey, I don't see your message on Instagram, can you email me at lostwaxozcontact@gmail.com and I will make sure to get it sorted for you!
Do you have a template for the fantasy armor you show at the 7:58 mark?
I don't because there really isn't anything to template. It's the same base as the steampunk version, but then the details are just sculpted from foam clay.
@@LostWax thanks for the quick reply. Love the videos and templates I purchased. First time making anything out of foam and made the armor and helmet for my son. Turned out so good. He love it! Look forward to making more.
@@AtlantasRealMcCoy Aww, that's so great to hear!!!
I used to have fingers. Now I am typing with my nose. Thanks a lot.
I wanna make this but im worried it won't fit oof
Ok but please tell me if I could wear this and the jet pack?
Hmm, I'm not sure, the strap would go over the shoulder, so you might want to simplify the shoulder a bit.
@@LostWax i can't believe you responded!! Yeah I've been looking at simpler shoulder designs. I'm a big fan! Thanks for being you! 😁
Looks like the amazing spider man 2 green goblin suit, but steanpunk
Not bad, still prefer contact cement over hot glue tho :o
It loses diy points when you have to go looking for things like that.
@@avillazamora3660 umh, but you don t have to lock for EVA foam? as far as i can tell for my country, there are more places to buy contact cement, that to buy eva foam
@@kopfklopfer Shit you're right...
How do I get the template
You can find all my templates at: www.lostwaxoz.com/shop
Hiya, just going to get the pattern for this and get the bundle, I see the bundle price on the website is $34.99 however when I go to pay via google pay its coming up at $41.98 What gives ??
Hi Simon, I am guessing that would be the applicable taxes in whatever country you are in. Sadly.
@@LostWax hmmm damn those taxes !!!!
@@SimonGoldberger Yep, I hear ya!
