- With the release of the BRAVE Arsenal, came new weapons contending for "Best In Class". We took our God Roll Falling Guillotine (Frenzy / Surrounded) and did a damage test to see it stacks up against the likes of Bequest, Throne Cleaver, Death's Razor, Lament, and The Slammer. Will Falling Guillotine be crowned as new sword DPS king?

Definitely the best vortex frame but man. Vortex and Caster Frames need their heavy attacks to take the same amount of ammo as adaptive so you can truly spin to win. They're just not strong enough to justify consuming more ammo
Casters started weak and the vortex got nerfed because of guillotine's heyday

These tests just really keep reminding me Bequest has a universal edge due to having a higher impact stat overall.
Which means Bungie will probably nerf it since it's been top dog for too long
It's not just the impact stat, Bungie previously targeted the Vortex frame a long while back with damage nerfs. Adaptive frames are normally bis for damage because they didn't receive those damage nerfs on top of the impact stat being higher. Impact stat doesn't affect the needle all that much with damage. It does a bit, but not a significant amount. It's the sword frame.

The thing about Vortex frames is that a heavy attack does 4x the damage of a light attack, but uses 6 ammo. Someone make it make sense
Heavy attack is a little faster so provides more DPS. IMO it should cost 4 ammo though.
@@Mr_Ruhltesting has been done to show that the dps gained from using the heavy attack is almost unnoticeable ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The additional area of effect. It can apply that 4x damage to a larger number of targets
I did the math based on the numbers shown in the last damage showcase he did, the 1v1
So one heavy attack does 22.910 x 6 = 137.460
Since he has 62 ammo on the sword, and the heavy uses 6 ammo, 62 ÷ 6 = 10 heavy attacks, maybe 11, let's go with 10
10 heavy attacks x 22.920 = 1.374.600
light attack does 36.655 damage x 62 = 2.272.620
I counted how many light and heavy attacks he did and got 28 lights and 4 heavys
light attack 36.655 x 28 = 1.026.340
heavy attack 22.910 x 4 = 549.840
1.026.340 + 549.840 = 1.576.180 (which is the exact damage number Cross got)
I don't know why but i had to be the one to do this, of course i could be wrong but the numbers don't lie
@@Gunslinger8912 first, when is that ever useful? Second, light attacking is enough to kill most trash and you’d have to hit 6 enemies with one heavy for that to be only equal to just light attacking them
Got the variant version of this sword. I have relentless and vorpal on the first column and whirlwind and surrounded on the second column.

I still got that exact roll. I'm chasing a shiny one that has frenzy/relentless and bait/surrounded (I'd also be happy with sword logic instead of surrounded)
I like the sword a lot before and now too I’m pretty happy with it added my old one was a jagged edge with sword masters guard with relentless and whirlwind now my new one has chain reaction instead of relentless and I genuinely enjoy it
I have the perfect roll, except I have vorpal instead of frenzy, but I can switch to eager edge if I need to, so it’s pretty much exactly what I want. Vorpal will always be active; yeah, frenzy would be a bit better, but the damage isn’t crazy different at the end of the day.
Vorpal bait and switch is pretty dirty with boss spec!

My first drop of the sword has fremzy and surrounded which is nice bdcause you will have a damage perk active often but sometimes none at all. I still really like whirlwind or even vorpal so I could seee fremzy confined with whirlwind or vorpal would be solid. I still really love vortex swords I was using a sword often during onslaught and it comes in cluch
Hey cross have you tried deconstruct on edge transit yet. It gives ammo back every three shots that hits and sometimes for some reason it gives 2 shots back. This also works in PvP but they have to be direct hits. It’s overall damage is better than bait and switch since you get so many more shots
I got lucky and got this exact roll last night as a shiny. I’ll eventually go for Bequest, but I’m good with my Falling Guillotine in the meantime.
I got jagged edge with frenzy and sword logic which i feel like those 2 perks pair very nice with each other
During the 1.6m attempt, Surrounded was procd for like 3 seconds at the end only. Can you test Frenzy + Desperate Measures? During fights where adds are close, I think the spin keeps the DM perk up without much effort.
I snagged a double dip 3rd and 4th columns... Frenzy/chain reaction & surrounded/sword logic with tempered edge
Got one with frenzy bait and switch, it’d be hard to judge just sword damage but paired with witherhoard sounds crispy

I managed to get two pretty good rolls. One with Chain Reaction + Sword Logic, and one with Relentless Strikes + Sword Logic. Chain Reaction + Sword Logic makes for some pretty nasty add clear, but Relentless Strikes + Sword Logic may be the better choice. Vortex frames have terrible ammo economy, so using one mainly for add clear isn't practical. Then again, using a vortex frame for boss damage isn't practical either, so uh...I dunno where that leaves this sword.
I got a roll I was chasing for masterwork one with relentless, vorpal on one column and bait and switch and sword logic on the other
problem is, vortex frames kinda suck regardless of damage perks you give to them because bungo nerfed them so many times trying to balance them, and also because bequest for some reason has higher impact than every other sword in the game lol.
unless they get buffed (or bequest gets nerfed) than the only use for them they have is simply for skating or movement.

For bosses your probably right but I was using a vortex all through the brave quest in onslaught and many times the ads got all over the place and the good ol vortex swirl was able to clear good amounfs of enemy so there is good use for them still. If your after a sword for raid bosses or certain chunky enemy then u could use something else

Haven’t had a chance to use it but I got a shiny vorpal/bait and switch roll, I’m very curious what the numbers are gonna look like since it’s far easy to proc than surrounded and frenzy.
Got a shiny guillotine with frenzy and bait and switch. That would probably be better for crota since there's not any adds around. It might make the gap between guillotine and bequest much smaller
I got a shiny version with Jagged Edge, Swordmaster's Guard, Frenzy, and Surrounded.
On Crota you ran out of ammo while the others were still going. The problem with replacing relentless strikes with a damage perk on a vortex frame. You may have been better off switching to light attacks only halfway through. The charged attack just uses so much ammo.
So, I know this is old but I love how the editors and Cross didn't even notice that surrounded was not up for that final test... This causes the damage difference we see with guillotine as he has frenzy to boost the damage of his sword while bequest is just doing regular damage.
The issue with sorrounded is that due to the type of sword nearby enemies that would proc sorrounded get killed by the whirlwind attack
The encounter before the witness could be a disciple where swords are good.
What about vorpal+bait and switch? In this case you don't need anyone around you in order to get the perk benefits.
Whats about bait and switch with vorpal, or sword logic and vorpal. I wanna see a test on all sword perks. I can help if you want i allready have all rolls 😂
Genuine question: How come throne cleaver isn't tested with the perk flash counter? Seems like damage for that and other swords would benefit a lot from the extra damage, unless it doesn't proc on a boss's stomp
I really want them to make a titan exotic that allows you to charge sword heavy strikes/give vortex frames effectively whirlwind.
do you think bait and switch + vorpal would beat Lament? freeing up an exotic slot to use an exotic primary not only for mid-game usefulness but for better heavy ammo drops
I understand surrounded over b&s but, i still prefer it in most situations, you cant always have surrounded to proc while you can always force the b&s. I'm going to farm both rolls anyway, so i can choose what to run in the specific situation because, at the end of the day surrounded is going to be 10% extra DMG.

Exotic armor: gyrfalcons
Mods:
Head: I used heavy ammo finder mobility and ammo scouts for teammates
Arms: void siphons, and recovery mod
Body: void reserves and melee resistance and concussive dampener
Legs: double void weapon surge and recovery
Cloak: reaper, better already and recuperation
Weapons:
Primary hung jury with kinetic tremors and precision instrument for range mobs.
Special: ruinous effigy (gotta dunk on em)
Heavy: fallen guillotine with destabilize rounds and attrition orbs. Or any other void heavy with those two on it.
Aspects:
Vanishing step and stylish execution
Fragment: echo of starvation, echo of undermining, echo vigilance, echo of harvest.
Use marksmans dodge
Snare trap and void wall for the abilities.
And always remember to dunk and have fun!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
you should have tested an attrition orbs and bait and switch roll. 45% damage buff (60% with four surge mods) that is proc'able whenever you want. Frenzy needs time in combat, surrounded needs ads. With this you need only a few swipes to get the orb. Guaranteed more damage in scenarios when surrounded isn't reliable.
What about Vorpal + Bait and switch?
what ur testing showed was falling guillotine dps > bequest dps, but also bequest total dmg > falling guillotine total dmg
Bait and switch is also a 35% damage bonus too right? Wouldn't bait and switch frenzy be better? It would be easier to proc. You could izinagi swap or witherhoard swap.

if they one day buff vortex frames as a whole, than yes, it will be the best. IMO, what kills it is the 6 ammo for a heavy
yup, that, lower damage on the archetype because of some nerfs targeted at og falling guillotine and the fact that bequest has 10 more impact than normal put guillotine at a massive disadvantage despite its crazy perk pool
@aztecross Add the lucent blade mod or two and your damage should go up even more with the increased charge rate

I've always viewed vortex frames as ad clear swords. Especially when trying to get surrounded to proc, it just kills the ads with the heavy. It's a great sword in onslaught, but i don't see using it much outside of it. 6 ammo on a heavy attack makes it horrible for total damage
There is no such thing as an ad clear sword. For ad clear, use a GL or machine gun. There is no reason to ever use a sword for add clear

You have to ask that person with Bakris did he use it if so. You have to do a damage test that the individual DOES NOT buff their own DMG number's. If you are looking to get True DMG numbers. No weapon surge. Just the base attack of the weapon.
I wish we could see if surrounded was actually proking during the crota fight, because if it wasn't then Guillotine with whirlwind probably would have beaten out Bequest.

What about surrounded, attrition orbs for solo runs HP regen and surges it's basically a mini lament! Keep one of those please especially if there's a moment when you get isolated from your fireteam in final shape

My questuon is, can frenzy and b&s work together? Do they stack? And if so, wouldnt it be better for something like crota? Plus, surroundwd wasnt active the entire time in these fights, so that caused damage to be inconsistent.

I came to the comments for this I just got this role and Im not even seeing how they could work together because bait and switch- use other 2 weapons and back to weapon with B&S for bonus damage and with frenzy- be in combat for extended time... am I missing something?

Can't really judge it until we see it with enhanced perks in a couple months. Right now a Frenzy/BnS roll does really well.
we know the math on the enhanced versions. Bequest is still better unfortunately, it would be cool if bungie buffs it so that guillotine is better for burst dps and has a reason to exist for dps over bequest.

On crota you gotta account for how much damage the relic sword does. Also 6:21 why does that first light attack use so much ammo? It literally uses 7 ammo for a light attack.
I have an old relentless strikes whirlwind blade titan sword that let's me do almost 9 million damage but this new falling guillotine is still pretty good

@@sirloin7633 it's TRUE I have a guy do well and I use cuirass of the falling star exotic and 2 void surge mods and Lucent blade mod and I can consistently get 8.8million damage. No joke

I've got so many god-rolls of this thing over the past 5 days its insane. I've even dismantled 2 shiny skin variants. At least I now know I have a 100% chance to get the exact roll I want when Forbearance comes available. Playing Onslaught on Legend I can barely keep up with the pile of weapons left over in my inventory and post (Getting a ton of almost full messages lately).
Would the shiny weapons be the only ItL weapons that could be enhanced later on, or could the regular versions also be enhanced?
regular ones will also be enhanceable. The shiny versions will even be allowed to keep their double perks and enhance all 4.
I have frenzy with surrounded or whirlwind blade switchable double perk, i wonder which will be highest dps?
Vortex frames were nerfed heavily after arrivals.
Very nicey sword still but you really need luck to get surrounded to be reliable especially due to your heavy attack Aoe killing ads

Surrounded is a hard sell on Guillotine because the heavy attack can accidentally wipe out the enemies activating the perk for you. But I’d still be interested to see the numbers when it’s enhanced.

What's with bait n switch, desperate measures and sword logic for short damage phases? I know it's harder to set up but still...
Slammer and guillotine are just utility heavies for eager edge + cold steel or bns (slammer) or eager edge + some dmg perk (guillotine) for all around usage in any activity. Zoom around and have enough damage for whatever else. Good enough for raids and solo content, not GMs or anything

Do legendary shard gotten remove ? And when ?
legendary shards have been partially phased out, but they still exist for now. They will be removed from the game entirely with the release of final shape. I would highly recommend buying phantasmal fragments with most or all of your legendary shards before final shape releases because they can be turned into glimmer which will be replacing legendary shards as the primary currency.
Funny enough I have both the rolls of guillotine with Jagged Edge masters, guard, vorpal weapon and surrounded the other one being jagged edge, masters, guard, frenzy, and surrounded
I’ve heard that doing the heavy attack with vortex frames is just an overall damage loss over spamming r1. Swords just don’t make sense to me sometimes 😂

yup, slammer has more utility in cold steel, and falling guillotine has better ammo eco from relentless strikes. guillotine/slammer isn't the new dps meta but it does power creep other half and half truths
why no one tried to use the crown splitter? i had it with relentles stikes and wirlwind blade and it does some crazy damage btw, i find it more reliable thank throne cleaver or other sword with surrounded because you can use it without ads and vs crota with crown splitter 1 light with 3 void surge mod radiance and tractor it does 103.000 for light, one time i even did 9.3 milion damage with witherhoard, falling star and crownsplitter, ( and i use it too on Rhulk and i demolisched him with the same build )
cross brotha i think i gotta warlock build for onslaught that is to good to be true me and my m8s just ran a legend onslaught on midtown all running this build and it's chaos it ad clears so well and it's so satisfying to run watching all the enemies just disintegrate the build in question is a stormcaller warlock build running

Has anyone actually gotten a Frenzy/Whirlwind or a Frenzy/Sword Logic? I've seen people speculate about them, and I've been focusing that sword since day 1 (with 3 shiny versions), and gotten not a single one of those combinations. And I've probably gotten 50 of those swords.
As a classic relentless/whirlwind user on this sword, I'm more interested in frenzy with b/s or whirlwind blade. I will never not use this sword unless i need lament heals.

I'd honestly prefer a Frenzy/Bait and Switch roll on this sword.
In anything slightly higher than normal content you're going to constantly be shot at and bait and switch is a lot easier to proc than surrounded.
It’s not that it’s easier, it’s that Bait n Switch is much more reliable than surrounded. Cuz you won’t always have ads around and when that happens, congrats, you got yourself a dead perk.
I really don’t get the Surrounded meat grind. Such a situational perk it’s not worth it in my opinion

It seems to me FG with double damage perks like BnS vorpal would be best for burst dps and gold tusk would be best for long damage total damage. I get 8 million plus using it on crota and I am justcan average player. Seems to me it's kinda premature to call one sword the best when you don't actually test it aginst everything.

Yeah i don’t like relying on surrounded on any weapon really because of too many inconsistencies. For swords Id use it for clearing a room quickly if anything cuz you’ll have the buff when you need it and its gone when you don’t
