I've always LOVED log homes. Rusty casual elegance. With modern conveniences. If you could build one closer to civilization (e.g. shopping) but with proper in-ground plumbing, power, LAN lines....there was this one log home built in such an area near my place...well 20 minutes north roughly...Is doable slightly north of Toronto. The GTA...my city...but if I were doing it I'd opt for dark brown square logs with visible I suppose "concrete" between the logs (if that's what's used)...perhaps one day. MY dream home.
No crazy drivers that might run over my dog (where I live now there are too many that don't stop for pedestrians w/ or w/o dogs). They stop at intersections but just drive on through. Even if they see us. Not all but "too many". Some don't signal when making turns. etc.
No possibility of a "dumb" neighbour "attached" to your home as in a condo unit or town home. Or being too close (8-10 feet) in a suburb == detached home.
So nice to have a "good sized" log home on an acre or 3 :) Enough distance between neighbours. :)

Beautiful ! I love log homes . I grew up in a tutor mansion on a hill , with a mile long driveway , overlooking the Grand River in Ontario , in the hills north of Toronto . I realize that was a huge blessing .... yet I've always dreamed of having a log home ..... some day soon I will design & create one:) Thank you for the inspiration .

That home is beautiful ! I would love to have a home like that, but probably 1/2 of the size ! I have to clean and maintain it =more work ..less relaxing ! I have a blueprint in my mind, for one can hope...right ? By the way, what do these people do for work/career ? If everything is custom made in that home ? Where did I go wrong ? ..Good for them !

That’s a beautiful home, it looks like a log home as well, for me doing a darker stain on would have made it more homey, but that’s just me. Why would anybody want to leave? This property is beautiful. It’s secluded very private. It’s just a it’s just a beautiful place. Lotta real trees around it. It’s it’s like being in heaven or actually it’s like your rendition of what heaven would be like.

well I wouldn't call it safe because if anyone can see your cabin from even 20 miles away you make yourself a Target being out there by yourself and it would only take two or three gangsters from the city and you would have no chancethere's so much cover their they could hide in that they could be on top of you before you have a chance to react

No internet, police take 4 years to get there, a burglar breaks in gone by the time the police have even left the station, fire brigade get there when it’s a pile of ashes and 8 years to go to the shop, nice house but too rural
A wonderful house as if you were dreaming, but most of these houses are only for American senior businessmen. If a fire broke out in the woods, this dream ended and became a nightmare chasing its owner.
Surviving a fire in this particular place is almost impossible.
But if there were rapid aid helicopters, survival is no longer impossible.
