- The Hong Kong-based carrier showcases their flight attendant uniforms from 1946 to present, through a fashion show called "Walking on Air".
The show took place during the celebration of Cathay Pacific's route launch from Chicago to Hong Kong in September of 2011.
Watch as Iris Lim, Asst Mgr for Uniform Projects, walks us through each era and explains the significance of each uniform, featuring designs from fashion powerhouses such as Nina Ricci and Hermes.

I have flown CX in 2000 and 2001 many times and their service was really excellent. Friendly FA's, I've met one Filipina CX flight attendant who took good care of me in one of my flights from Manchester to HK. Thank you CX, I am flying with you again very soon.

Me 2001-2006 4 HKG-MNL trips and a JFK-HKG round trip one was direct other via Vancouver. The nonstop flight had a Filipina crew took a good care of my family

When Cathay Pacific was founded in 1946, it was a period in commercial aviation where image was everything. You hired flight attendants to represent an "entire" nation. Today, if you look at the advertisements for airlines, they "still" show women who look manufactured. Emirates Airlines has a practice of hiring "certain" types of women for their daytime flights. China Southern will only hire women with certain (Los Angeles Times). Both are statements are true, in fact.

I like the now a day UNIFORM it has the logo all over the white shirt with the dark a bit red jacket and the red skirt....
Every businessman's dream is to back-scuttle a trolley-dolly in the first class kharsi. I've only managed it with a couple of Cathay girls, but can thoroughly recommend the experience. Only one tip:Try not to press the flush during the proceedings.
It is interesting how Cathray Pacific practices the hiring of "only" young, slim and beautiful women to be flight attendants. This practice was the model early in U.S. aviation. You had to be a certain height, weight, and hair color to be hired. Dennis Owen, vice president of Marketing Americas, said something very telling, "...when people see it they think we hired models..." In effect, they have. That is done on purpose.

Was recently on a flight from YYZ-HKG and back and for some reason, the uniform looked really big and ill-fitting on some of the flight attendants... but still a very nice uniform nevertheless.

Flight crew is fresh, friendly, and attentative. Too bad US carriers have bad service, tired, haggard, and rude crew.
The new uniform is atrocious. You show too much skin when the crew reaches up or bends down. They're not meat - this is extremely unfair for them.
