Chaccu Festival Incan Vicuña Round-Up - Lucanas, Peru (Chaccu Nacional de Vicuñas)

Each June, one of the wildest festivals in Peru takes place as residents of local communities around the town of Lucanas in the Ayacucho province of Peru put on the Chaccu Festival (Chaccu Nacional de Vicuñas in Spanish). The Chaccu Festival (sometimes spelled Chaku) is a celebration of Incan and pre-Incan culture and also a celebration of the area’s beloved (and valuable) wild vicuña.
