Untitled (2019): A Poem by Yomi Sode

Untitled 2019 is created in response to the UCL Grant Museum of Zoology exhibition Displays of Power. Film directed by Hydar Dewachi and poem by Yomi Sode.
When the practice of collecting animals for science was at its height, so was the British Empire. The Displays of Power exhibition connects the specimens in the Grant Museum of Zoology to a wider history of science and Empire, by asking one simple question: “How did all these things come to be here in the first place?”
Yomi is a Nigerian British writer, performer and facilitator. Shortlisted for the Jerwood Compton 2017 Poetry Fellowship, he has read poems at Lagos International Poetry Festival, Afrika Fest with Speaking Volumes in Finland and at the New York Public Library with the British Council.
Hydar is a photographer, filmmaker, designer and IT engineer, and his practice fuses images (photography and films), design and technology, often in a documentary, semi-autobiographical context.
