- On Sept. 10, 2019 a U.S. led coalition dropped 80,000 pounds of munitions in a coordinated strike on an "ISIS Infested" Qanus island in Iraq
in order to deny what had become a safe haven for the terror group, according to Operation Inherent Resolve. Today we re-enact this event.

@@grimreapers thanks cap
"Do I crash now or later?" 😂
I think all those flyovers at sporting events are used to practice Time-On-Target attacks.
Yup
Not for the B2’s😂

Germany actually has 1580km of coast - German naval aviation however has shrunk significantly since the early 90s. They no longer have jets and are restricted to recon and nominal ASW capabilities with helos and Orions.
Well, the coast line is 1500km, but the sea boarder is more like 400km, because its way straighter.
Considering that germany got loads of very deep inlets that lead to wide rivers, exactly where the coast stops and the river start is a bit subjective.
Like hamburg, is it slipt by the rover or the sea.
MFG2 in 1995...
Cap, do you have to complete a Sanity Check because of a Sanity Clause?
I wouldn't bother because I don't believe in Sanity Clause! 😂
Sanity Claus is very real.
0:44 ... Yet! We don't have Iraq, yet.
I too am ready for the Iraq map. But, if truth be told, I would rather have the Kola Peninsula map first from Orbx I believe is the developer. That is one of the maps that would enable many scenarios from the Tom Clancy universe. My favorite author. But any new map is a welcome addition
As a viewer, I feel extremely valued.
I love being a valued viewer. Thanks
The title of this video actually gave me goosebumps.
Yes. The Berlin wall was still up and there were 2 Germany's when I was there.
There's a Starbuck's at Checkpoint Charlie now.
Hang on, no crashes on take-off. Almost perfect mission then a seriously impressive formation landing? Who are you and what have you done with the real GRs?
You must live near RAFL, was stationed there for 7 years. Miss England like crazy!
ISIS-infested.....
"Welp, it don't look good. You've got ISIS."
"ISIS!? But I had it sprayed four times a year! What do we do?"
"This can only be eliminated with a large quantity of high explosives."
"Dammit! I've only got three years of payments left!"
I wouldn't be surprised if the F-35's weird climbing tactics were stealth related. If your best climbing angle is bad for stealth, you're obliged to change your tactics.
Hey Cap! Can you guys model the F-35's towed decoy? I've heard that some F-35s dont even carry chaff anymore and use these as their primary radar-guided missile countermeasure.
The towed decoy can do three things: 1) jam the enemy's radar, preventing a lock; 2) jam the missile's seekerhead, preventing the missile itself from tracking the aircraft; and 3) if the missile still somehow manages to lock onto the aircraft, the F35 will cut off the line that tows the decoy and the decoy will automatically self-enlargen its RCS (sort of like MALD) to present much juicier target for the missile.
IIRC the Lightning can carry up to 4 decoys. IMO these will make the F35 a lot more survivable than it already is and would make it a much more capable fighter more akin to its irl capabilities.
I’m pretty sure only the a and c variants carry them the b variant still uses chaff
@@Benjamin-fq7nm I would think the B variant would need the decoys more due to it's more limited kinematics!
Also apparently some variants of the F-18 also have a towed decoy (along with chaff) that is retractable, but more limited in capabilities than the F-35 decoys.
Not sure if the 4x F-35 decoys are retractable!
@@DireW0lf0 yeah but I don’t think it has the internal space due to the lift fan and other vtol/stovol components
Havn't got it working in game yet.
I see a fellow Sandboxx viewer.
In the correct pronunciation of Qanus Island, the Q is silent.
Oof
Did the F35s drop? I didn’t see you issue their orders.
I must of cut the bit of footage, trying to keep vid time down. Sorry.
@@grimreapersah, cool. Most of the fun is watching you human player do your thing. Congrats on the smooth mission and mishap-free landing!
I lived on base housing at Luke before they switched from the F-15 to the F-16, and you could hear that @5:35 whine of the Pratt and Whitneys across the entire base at night as they taxied.
Man that was back when the deadly jesters were still there. I grew up watching the mud hens do landings sitting on the end of the runway. That brings back memories
sometimes i think this sim looks so cool, and i want to learn how to play. then there are days like this where you show everything that goes into flying these things and it's just like.... nah, I'm good.
Got to do a simulated ejection in wind to hit a target point to land in for the lols.....
Given the low threat environment, I wonder if a wagon-wheel orbit to set up the TOT would be useful. Everyone circles around (using waypoints?) trying to achieve “equal” spacing from aircraft ahead to aircraft behind, and once you get reasonable spacing around the circle, converge on center for drop.
Loved the video @grimreapers! Can't wait for the next video man! Nice to see the F-15E Strike Eagles (AKA Mudhens) get some action on the Channel! The Run seemed pretty fine to me aside from Dark Managing to Pull some Overkill on his part of the run LMAO!
Truth be told though, I think I might add the F-15E to the Inventory for you guys in the Mission over Gudauta on the Caucasus Mountain's map. Surprised that I still remember you guys flying around the Black Sea back in November 2022 on the Grim Reapers 2 Channel? Still hashing away at the Rosters as well, like who's flying which Aircraft.
Hopefully I'll have the Details for "Operation Taxman" for you guys in your next video! There's going to be Plenty of Boom Booms as well as Plenty of Mods, so caution is Highly Advised.
Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!
Cap always have to jinx the group 😂😂
Even more ironic: Germany does have a fly navy, despite not having any aircraft carriers
Isn’t there a function that allows all the bombs to fall off simultaneously? I seem to remember something like that, instead of one after the other.
yes BUT I'm 95% sure it doesn't work for guided bombs.
The ‘Fire Everything’ button !!! (see Lieutenant-Commander Worf of USS Enterprise NCC 1701 D).
One of the 5th gen capabilities is networked coordination. A time on target with the F-35 would be very easy. Same with the Raptors. Older generation aircraft would have to be set up the old fashioned way. It would still be computer calculated, just manually planned out down to the second. I have read stories about how the Allies did it with slide rulers, stop watch and compass. Even in Desert Storm they coordinated massive TOT attacks with all the branches of the military. The B-52 bombs would drop at the same time Army artillery shells landed and Naval Tomahawks arrived. That is not easy to do. And according to the standard to be as effective as possible all the ordnance had to arrive within 15 seconds, +/- five seconds. Otherwise some defensive assets could cope with the attack. Enemy reload times, acquisition times and human reaction times all played a part in the calculations of how accurate the arrival times needed to be. A fascinating topic. The GR's did a fine job with such limited preparation. And even the one attack that placed all bombs on a single target. That was a fortified bunker that needed all those bombs to destroy it! Well done! lol
I got your back, Cousin!
I thought that the F-4 Phantoms were able to carry a significant boom load.
10 Tons I believe!
It will be interesting to see how the Tornado will operate
Formation landing was rad
Y'all should recreate the BF3 F-18 jet mission Going Hunting.
I’m guessing you live next to RAF Lakenheath then. Because milden hall flies the big stuff. And RAF Marham only flies the F35s.
Does DCS have towed radar decoys / counter measures modelled for the F-35 (which apparently does not have chaff dispensers, just 4x decoys) and the F-18 which apparently uses both chaff and decoys?
Suppose we would've seen those of they were a thing in the game. Generally, EW is not very present, so unlikely
damn, i remember this vividly.
27:05 ha, you said doodoo
Imagine using an island to stage attacks.
By the looks on the strike irl.. the F15E probably just used dumb bombs..
Thank you.
My mouse scroll stopped working in DCS. Can zoom on map or any views. Can’t find in control options either. Any help on this?
On the isis Island bombing, there is a video of the actual bombing and you can see the explosions were much larger in the actual bombing then what I've seen in this military Sim. I'm just curious why there's such a difference in the actual explosion size if you're playing a military simulation?
That's a good point. I think our island was a little larger than the real island, that's my best guess.
SUP CAP!
based and eagle pilled.
Hello Kittens.
Salad-had-din ? Any relation to Mustafa-Leek ???
IRL, would the back seater set up each bomb like that or would the ground armament crew have that already set up since it’s a planned mission?
Only pilot/WSO is allowed to set up weapons, ground crew is not allowed. At least that's how USAF works from an interview I did.
Cap, are you releasing a review video of the pedals? I just ordered mine.
for a review, you first have to test them. And since Cap has just started to use them, it will take a bit
You live near Mildenhall or Lakenheath Cap?
Guess he'll stick to name, rank, service number, and dob
Both, they are right next to each other.
Yup, moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Do an F-15 mirror scheme.
how to add a loss counter
I also live near F15s and F35s
2022 GR problems: missiles dont work, people disconnect, people stray from mission
2024 gr problems: didnt quite land all the bombs in a 30 second TOT window
2026 GR problems: ???????

FYI, fugazi is a derogatory name for gay men in the Italian mafia.
As a gay man in the Italian mafia, I can confirm.
This was incredibly sexy 😎✈
Are you going to follow this up by doing Gaza?
Not trying to be a dick or anything but This operation was carried out solely by the USAF & Heavy Bombers Were Utilized Not Multi Role Fighters Or Strike Aircraft
"After it became a staging area for the terrorist organization Islamic State during an insurgency in the 2010s, it was bombed on 10 September 2019.[2] American F-15 and F-35 fighter jets dropped 40 tonnes of explosives (more than 80.000 pounds of laser-guided bombs) by the US-led coalition forces"
@@grimreapers lol just found the news reports - I remember when this first hit headlines in 2019 & I could’ve swore a flight of b1’s took this mission, thanks for the correction sorry for the misconception
