Anyone else here because they’re having another 3am anxiety attack about what they’re going to do with their life and the internet keeps talking about getting into IT? No? Just me? K🥶
Me
Its 6pm for me
Same here man
It's 4am for me I wake up stressed out having to go to work for 10hrs ugh
I’m currently at swagelok thinking about this 😂😂😂 and the future is the internet anyway so it seems sooooo logical but coming from warehouses and delivery jobs I’m so lost on how to get there
As a IT. Recruiter... y’all better listen 👂🏽... I’m always looking 😁
Dope! What area of tech do you recruit in?
@@LabEveryday I’m in the DMV area, but I recruit from anything here, to overseas (Japan, Germany, etc).
@@LabEveryday I’m sorry are you speaking about positions? Just about everything... Cyber, Software Engineers, Developers, etc. I support contracts from CIA, NSA, DIA, Army, Navy, etc. basically anything you can find on SAIC, Lockheed, General Dynamics, etc.. any one of those jobs I’ve recruited for.
@@moormelaninplz6744 hello, do you hire candidates without IT experience but either have or are training for certs?
@@247OnlineGuy we don’t hire anyone without experience, but at least the certification. If you’re certified, that means you have training. When a company hires you, you’re just getting the on the job training. If you mean hiring someone that just applied to a IT position for example, with no knowledge, no experience, or certs... no. Hope that answers your question.
As a Network Engineer for over 25 years and also a CCNP, your advice is right on point!
25yrs? May I ask if that puts you in your 50's? If so, I have an odd question. I am 50yrs old and needing to change careers. During your career did you see or meet any "vintage" men my age switch into IT?
@@mikel6787 That is THE question, right now. Folks exiting the military, folks transitioning who can't perform like before due to wear n tear injuries, etc., all have this question. The tech industry is like scholarship college athletics. If you have talent & discipline, you are kept around. If you don't, you will be promptly bounced out on your @ss. Tech keeps changing. You have to spend your own time & money on retraining yourself on the next hot technology. If you learn quickly & are disciplined, which means your hours away from work have you studying the next big tech, do it. Peace.
Thanks for sharing those amazing advices. I'll put some of them in practice right away. Thanks from the Domimican Republic.
You have genuinely dropped some very insightful and highly useful gems 💎 sir and I appreciate you immensely.
Very respectfully
Good thing the community is very helpful! Saw that entry level job with 3 years of experience. I've started youtube channel for my raw labeveryday journey thank you much sir!
After a long time, I’m for the first time considering a career change into IT. Thank you so much for such an informative video!
Straight to the point 💯 love this video. Taking me 2-3 years to go get my CCNA and some kind of certs 🤞 I’ve been procrastinating and slacking 🤦♀️.
Thank you Du'an Lighfoot. I love this video. You are a wise man, and you are helping me. I appreciate your content. You did a fantastic job.
Got my degree in computer information systems about two years ago along with a network admin cert and a computer support specialist cert by my community college. Ended up working another gig that payed well until I was laid off recently . I feel like a idiot for not continuing on the path of IT. Got a local job for the mean while but I’m planning on typing up my resume and trying to be proficient as I used to be. Thank you for your advice and I hope every one else the best of luck
Hello, thank you so much for this! Trying to get my foot in the door and the linked in advice was really great! Networking seems like the hardest part , and I dont mean the networking cert lol.
This has been the best advice so far! You really make the message clear: you gotta put in the work to earn your work.
Thanks and keep going!
How you are doing now?
Such great advice! Thank you!
This is Godsend, thank you so much, this is so helpful. God Bless.
I'm in Northern Europe {Denmark} by way of NYC and met a person a few days ago who just got into "IT." With no experience nor heavy education, they suggested I look at YT vids. I searched "How to get started in IT, and this was the first video shared, and I would like to thank you for the ease of understanding, in addition to the conciseness of information sharing. Thanks immensely.
Needed this! Working on my Bachelor's currently and was looking for more progressive things to prepare myself for better opportunities. Thanks Du'an, definitely going to check out the free programs.
Thankyou for this ! I, like so many others, haven’t a clue as to how to break into the tech industry. I’m excited about following these tips !

Great advice here on this video. I worked in sales for many years before getting into IT and used some of the same tips to make the transition, great work!
How's the IT field going for you?
Going really good. Never a boring day!
Been in a block lately because of failing my AWS CCP exam. This video is a great help and got me ready to move forward. Learning Cloud has been great and can’t wait to get my first gig, Thank you 🙏🏾

Great advice. I am starting my journey to become a software engineer. It seems so far away at times but breaking it down into small goals makes it more manageable. Thank you and good luck to all on their journeys as well!
How is it going ?
Did you end up making the switch?
@@vulns Hey yea I did! I ended up doing a bootcamp and I was able to get a software engineering job right after finishing. It was a tough course but honestly best decision I ever made. It's not easy but if you put in the work, it is possible to break into the field :)
@@tacocatgamer hey, I am really interested in getting into this myself. What bootcamp did you do and how long did it personally take you (hours a week, etc.)? I'd appreciate it very much if you gave me any info you can, because its about time I do something haha.
Great video! I stumbled on your video after posting my version of 'how to get an entry level IT job" video on CZcams as well. Cheers

Hey bro so I really like the video and when you said step out of ur comfort zone I felt that because I am not big on social media but after watching ur video I made a LinkedIn and started my first post still working on the pic lol
The LinkedIn portion of this video is 💯 spot on - Du’An - could you also speak towards the value of a premium account , and if it’s worth it (or not?) . Definitely interested in seeing you dig into leveraging LinkedIn better. Fantastic content brother - thank you for creating this platform 🙌🏾
Thank you! I will be working on my LinkedIn profile and posts.
very helpful information great job !!
I really enjoyed watching this thank you
Lab every day! I personally reverse engineer for jobs. Look at a job and their responsibilities, then fill in the missing skills/certs. Looking for any IT internships are key to build skills and resume and get the job you want after a year or two
thank you for the advice!
Our pleasure!
I've been building control systems and working around Electrical Engineers for almost 10 years now. I'm over the manual labor and long hours so I decided to get into I.T. At almost 40 with a baby on the way, it's a bit scary but I've had experience with networking all types of devices, assigning IP addresses, connecting to cloud servers and PLC's in equipment that I've built so it's not entirely "foreign" to me. I'm currently studying for my CCNA and I'm excited to see where I can get started in this field. Thanks for content like this. It helps the many of us who are unsure of where to start or if we're doing it right, that we can have a lucrative career in IT and that there are a ton of resources to help us learn, grow and thrive!
I've been at my wastewater job for 15 yrs and I'm looking to get back into IT I have minimal experience and almost 40 looking to switch like you. Not going to lie this is really scary. This was a very informative video.
I've been doing hvac for 4 years now. I definitely understand. Being in those hot attics in summer definitely get to me. I would like to transition to IT one day. For now, I'm stuck doing hvac
Did you accomplish your goal? I'm 35 and worl street maintenance. I've been off and on with my studies
Automotive for 10 years at 27 I’m tired of it man!
You got this man 💪 hope you been doing good
Just fell on your vid. Thanks, really. It gave me perspective. I'm in France right now, and I am starting a new career (40+). I decided to try to certify in CompTIA A+ , get a little work experiences, then pass the CCNA. I don't know if it's the case in this field in the US, but retraining at my age is easy, but harder to find a job because of it. I'll do my best to follow your advices. Wish me luck.
Hey bro, did you get any luck getting an entry-level IT job? Because i am in a similar situation .
My husband and I are really needing a change. He wants cybersecurity and I’d like that also or to do any number of things. I’ve built several websites over the years. It’s easy for me on Wordpress. we both have a bend for it. We’re in a tight place right now and this seems like the best industry. This video may end up being super important to my family. Thank you so very much.
Bro, you have dropped some great content and I appreciate you immensely sir..
I appreciate that
Cuz, you are spitting facts and I’m in IT / I’m attempting to advanced my career as well...
I've been there family! Much love!
Am Mike,This video is very helpful. your video on how to connect switch using putty gave me so much believe that I can actually become IT engineer. I am currently studying for my CCNA . Though a bit rough for me because am 40yrs and father of 2 but I am making progress I plan to write the CCNA by February end.. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you! It’s awesome to hear that my video inspired you. If you have not watched this video I think you may be able to relate to Mr. Bates journey.

I am going to be graduating university with a bachelor's in IT, although no experience. I want to land a job as soon as I graduate. Not interested in coding/programming-type positions. Any advice or recommendations?
Thanks a lot Du'An! You got a new sub.
I got my MTA Database Fundamentals certification last week and currently working on Azure database administrator. I want to work with databases. I created a CZcams and pretty much everything except for apply to those jobs. Enjoyed the video bro!
Thats cool. Ill be taking a few MTA courses in the future! Wish me luck!
WOW! I am age 72 and retired. I'm looking to enter the IT field! Thank you for your highly informative and enlightening content! ANKH-ASE!
Nothing can stop you!
@@LabEveryday Thanks! Today I enrolled in the basic IT for Spring 2024!
Your absolutely right with obtaining CCNA. I recently transitioned out of the military and I obtained CCNA right before getting out, and I have been contacted multiple times by recruiters in regards to Network Engineer positions. My only issue is I have never worked as a network engineer, I have configured / replaced / installed cisco switches and routers in the past under the military but idk if I would be comfortable working in a engineer position as opposed to a network admin position.
can i ask you some question ?
What did you decided to do? I just reclass to a 25B in the Army. Im new to the signal world, so I’m trying to see what careers/ certs would be best for me if I decided to get out.
Good advice 👍.
Watching your content pushed me to break into IT world. I think I am going to finish up Google IT program and just go back to college and get AAS IT.
Glad to help? College for? Are you working in I.T. now?
@@LabEveryday College for Information Systems they have a computer programming option and a networking option. I am unsure of what option to choose. I am starting in August.
No I am not.
Searched for weeks on 'Entry Level IT JOBS' finally watch your video and get my questions answered in the first 5 minutes man. Thanks for this one. I have done a lot of that legwork myself with the research. But I suppose what threw me off is just the sheer amount of information and misinformation out there on IT jobs in general. As someone hoping to break into the field and about to be a college grad with a non-applicable field of study (history major here) I realized man I want to work a job in IT but I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START, this video certainly helped. I would have one question for you though, is the CCNA something with 'zero' experience can attain? I just feel like what scares me most is you do the due diligence, research the field, get the cert, and start to apply for positions, and nobody will hire you because of that dreaded word 'experience'. How can it be an entry level position hiring if it requires 5 years experience? A lot of what I have noticed is a lot of companies now are requiring a subsequent degree in Computer Science now. I open that about the CCNA to all in the comments section. Thank you again for your video!
Hi, thank you. I am glad this video helped you. To answer your question, yes the CCNA can be obtained with zero experience. I am looking at your picture. Are you a veteran? If so, there are programs that help you get started. ivmf.syracuse.edu/programs/career-training/learning-pathways/?q=/programs/career-training/concentrations/&
I've got Customer Support experience (would not say it's an IT job in itself).
I'm currently learning about IT (html, CSS, SQL). Actually started couple weeks ago.
How can I strengthen my chances of getting an entry level it job? I am very motivated to get into it but I feel that my lack of experience will get me nowhere (anytime soon maybe).
Currently working on getting as many certifcations done and taking LinkedIn seriously

I just got my first IT job 4 months after completing the Google IT support certificate. Im great at interviews so it was just having a cert and doing freelance Tech work.
I just finished that same cert bro… thinking about getting A+ next. Did you get a remote job or local?
@@CODBros36 I’m going for the Microsoft cert and Comptia A+. My company will reimburse me. The job is onsite.

Are you familiar with Cisco’s CCT certification? As a entry level candidate, should I start there or go straight for the CCNA?
Your voice makes the bass in my car act up
I started a course on coursera in Michigan's Python for Everybody to get me into the basics. I don't know much about this stuff, so I hope I am able to learn more!
I’m not sure what I want to be in information technology but I just know that I’m gonna try to change careers from healthcare to the technology industry. Plus since I was young, I have always been getting good grades in technology lol so I see why not try to get into the industry but I don’t know where to start with no experience so that’s why I’m here watching this video lol. And I’m currently taking the Google certificate education program from Coursera online.
Appreciate this
So I really want to get into Cybersecurity so I researched that passing the CISSP exam is the way to go….so I’m currently reading the (ISC)2 CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional Official Study Guide.
I’m currently a computer operator for a large company where I do keep inventory records using multiple platforms including excel.
Do you have any feedback on how I should go about breaking into cybersecurity?

When you were talking about applying even when the requirements did not match with your personal experience, I was doing that, hopefully I can land a data entry job to get my foot in the door. I’ve only worked in retail and I’m looking to better myself and start a career.
