Gotta love the ole M35. Drove one for Uncle Sam for many years. Now all I have is parts, manuals and memories of working on them. They were the work horse for the Army until that were faded out cause privates can drive stick. Lol US Army Retired...
Great video and description! On mine I have a disconnect switch between the two batteries. 1. It's another defense against theft 2. It is as designed a battery disconnect. 3. It allows for safer jumpstarting to disable both batteries being 24volt
So my replacement betters in my deuce didn’t last three years. They were oem from interstate. 550 for the pair of them. I then replaced them with two group 31 1100 cca truck batters. I rigged up my battery box with out the plastic tray.
I know Exide used to be a great battery for their price. Its been years since I’ve owned one but if they are as good as they used to be then and last 2 years like you say. You would definitely be saving money even in the long run. Sure wish i had a rural king near me.
@@theoff-gridguru You happen to have a link to how this is done? Would love to make my life a little easier and convert my M35A3 to a 12V system if realistically possible.
Point of order.. if you wire two batteries in series combining output voltage, the current is limited to rating of one battery. Wire them in parallel and you maintain the original voltage of both cells but combine the current. Still though, 800cca at 24v should be fine. Enjoyed the video sir!
Every gun owner about the most dangerous gun bill in US history. HR127 Every gun and piece of ammo in the US has to be registered. Nothing is grandfathered. Where you bought it, where it's stored, $50,000-$100,000 fines. 1-10 years in prison. Background check and psychological tests for family members. $800 insurance per year. That's just a small part of it.
I was curious on the best place to buy a deuce. I was looking around but can’t find any for less than 15k. I’m in Michigan and I am looking for one that runs but I can fix brakes or bearings or anything simple. Looking for one less than 5k. Thanks
Just keep browsing places like facebook marketplace, craigslist, ebay, military surplus, auctions, etc etc. I just scored a SWEET and super clean 99 M35A3 with a camper mounted on a cargo bed and a matching trailer for 15k. Needed fluids changed and about $500 in love and it looks like it rolled off the line. Bringing it to my local market to flip or mount a 5th wheel on to use as my RV.
I have a hard time keeping up with the different rules in all 50 states so I'm not up to date on Canadian rules. I do know that in most cases it's illegal for average joes to sell US military surplus gear out of the country. There are some m35 trucks in Canada and your military had their own version of this truck so I'd assume they're available and probably road legal but you may need some sort of commercial license for it.
What about lithium batteries from renegy? I know it's common sense you can't just throw any battery in there but if it cost me $150 to $200 a piece for the battery that's $400 in total and I could buy one giant 6tl ordinance battery for the same price or maybe I'm wrong somebody please help me understand
I don't know anything about the compatibility between lithium batteries and the Deuces generator system. I do know that the 6tls are only 12 volts so you need two of those as well.
Finally, a deuce video... I subscribed specifically for this truck!!
Thanks for hanging around. One of my goals for 2021 is more Deuce vids.
@@deuceandguns sounds like a plan man!! I’ve been a fan for many years, I used to be MarblesHD
I have been waiting awhile now too. Got my M35A2 early 2020.
@@o0RageCore0o this is the best channel for M35/A2’s
@@deuceandguns awesome, I love that old deuce
My wife and I are looking at buying a deuce next month. Great info from your channel!!!!

You should make a video on the soft top
I use Battery Tenders in addition to the Optima battery charger. They claim it reconditions your battery too. I hate dead batteries! 🇺🇸🗽
To help with vibrations use some type of Rubber floor mat. And like someone else said use bungie cords to hold them down.

I switched to AGM style batteries and never looked back. Picked mine up from Wally World (Ever-Start brand) for about $150 each. CCA 750 for Group 65.

Brother if youre ever up near Mt Eagle TN let do lunch or dinner .. I've kept up with ya for years and just got a deuce,,, Thanks for the video
Congrats on the Deuce! I'm editing a new Deuce video right now and I hope to have it up for this weekend.
I've been waiting for a m35a2 video forever
My OTR truck was a 12/24 volt system. Standard practice to use 24v for start and run everything else at 12v. Gotta love those ol' duece and a halfs!
Love your truck
I was actually getting ready to pull my metal battery box out and rebuild it. It's rotted clear through on my deuce...
That's probably the reason so many have been switched over to plastic.
Yeah... I'm going to weld new plate in and add a 3rd battery for a 12 volt system.
@@theoff-gridguru Nice, I've seen a few mods like that.

Thanks for the video. I was hoping for something 3D printed. That is if you could have, not sure how big your printer is.
Don't you love it when a plan comes together :-))

When I bought my deuce it had two shirts tucked between the batteries and it has stayed that way till this day
