Honestly I can so relate to the adrenaline rush of spear fishing when you get one. At my grandma's lake there is an invasive fish called a rock bass that kills all other species of fish so we always spear fish them and man when you sneak up on them and spear em the feeling is like none other. It's an amazingly fun and crazy time!

It's not overly intense. It's actually really cool to be so close to what your hunting.
It looks so shallow there... Literally 3 to 5 meters tops

Im 13 and I spearfish and I have ran into a small hammerhead shark before and it wasn’t that scary. Another time I speared a fish and a nurse shark came up and went for my fish I was a little scared.

For starters, you don't take the shot.
Why you suffocate all of the fish just kill them fast but no pain and it tastes better
Maybe being on a dingy in the middle of the ocean doesnt supply the largest amount of space

Ejezu You are right. Fish that are stressed before they are killed taste worse. It has to due with adrenaline that uses up glycogen from the muscles which after death turns into the lactic acid that keeps your fish from being tough and tasteless.

The more I watch,the more I learn,it’s my new thing,am swimming at the Y. Almost every day, I have invested the best equipment,it’s not cheap. I am working on my breathing control. Only 10- 15 ft. I am 64 and 100% disabled. But am holding a positive attitude. The folks at the Y are awesome we help each other. I am postponing my Bear hunt this season. Hope to eat lobster and flounder, here in New England. Thanks Bearhunter5

First you make me want to get into scuba diving (I already picked a dive store) and now I'm thinking about spearfishing! WTH. I finally found some spots where I spearfishing is allowed near me. Still doing lots of research on Sucba, free diving, and transitioning all that into spearfishing. I've always loved the water but didn't know these sports existed or where as available as I had previously thought.

Usually with air.. Hopefully. Na they are free diving. It's where you hold your breath the whole time. My pb is 45 feet down and about 45 sec till I want to die. But i have rookie numbers. I like scuba diving with an air tank but most spearfishermen are free divers because you don't have to worry about nitrogen in your blood.

I don't know if you'll read this but you shouldn't be killing fish just for the sake of killing them and getting that adrenaline rush. You're taking a life and you should respect that, you shouldn't be taking shots on fish that you aren't even that proud of when you catch them. Spearfishing is the most sustainable way of fishing since it's so selective and you can catch exactly what you want but it defeats the purpose if you're just killing to kill. Like some of those Sheepshead were barely big enough to even get any meat off of. I get it's can be fun and a rush but I just think you should respect the fact that you're taking a life and there should be purpose behind it.
