- Clean your headlights easy!
Here’s a tip for anyone out there that has those foggy headlights that look dull and dirty. I haven’t been able to find anything that cleans them better than this. Not for 5$, at least. Any bug spray will work so long as it has DEET. The more, the better.
Feel free to share for someone who has headlights like these 😊
You can purchase what I used here

Just spray it with this unidentified stuff and the head light covers will be like brand new! Great video Einstein!!
Lmfao exactly!!! Defeats the purpose!

I was wondering if that was bug spray but they never said what it was.
As long as you keep at sixty, no bites.
Ha ha!!
Best video yet thanks for showing what your using 😂
Didnt read the description eh??
Off insects spray and tooth past w/bakingsoda inside the tooth past and a small stiff brush go in small circles with toothpaste with baking soda several times then rinse off, with water.. Then dry with microfiber cloth. Then spray with off incect spray and wipe away 2 or 3 times done
Use colgate often but fid some wet sanding with a low grit finger nail cardboard file. A bit heavier grit on one side. I cleaned a lot of bad film off a friends lights. Didnt get perfect results but got rid of a good 80% of the build up for them. This might help finish.
10 minutes later, they're back to foggy headlights again
Or after a few rain 🌧 falls....
Two more passes and that headlight is going to be completely disintegrated
What is he spraying on the headlight
Ivan 23 Caravantes two years later, and they’re still clear 😉
@@CareyWilliam no more lenses isn't clear.
To clean the headlights properly people, you have to use a type of rubbing compound or 1200 sandpaper to get the oxidized plastic off first. Then buffing brings back the shine. You can even clear coat after that to maintain the clarity .
That's a lie.
@kristina shut up right now
@@joenino3 Both of U, go to your rooms NOW!
I use 800 grit sandpaper keeping it wet and then 1200 grit or higher to smooth it, again keeping the sandpaper wet! Then let dry and spray with clear coat, it will look foggy when you first spray it with clear coat but it dries crystal clear. Stays that way, for a quick option to clear your headlights use a dry cloth with Acetone! But only wipe it one time across, like the top half then bottom half, depending on the size of your cloth! Do not wipe over the acetone again and again, it will look worse, just one swipe across!
Mother’s Aluminum polish and a microfiber cloth !
Thank you for telling us what the product was

Just ask the same darn question.if its so bad for plastic why use it on their skin
Cutter works and the is called REPEL they are both insecticide
Hoodtips: If you really want to restore your headlights get a buffing pad aka white gym sock and flip it inside out. Grab your colgate toothpaste saturate the lamp and start wiping in circular motion until all toothpaste is gone. Headlights back to new removed haze and yellowing immediately. Dont be stingy on toothpaste either and expect too see results. When finishes wash off with soapy water and dry
You sound pretty educated...R.U sure your from the hood...lol...TY for the tip😊
@@samtee3607some hood rats speak and write good

cant wait to see his headlight plastic melt from the chemichals he is using. id reccomend a 3M headlight restoration kit. $20-30 and it wont damage the headlights. all you supply is a microfiber towel an electric drill with 1/4” chuck and a spray bottle filled with water. super simple and makes headlights good as brand new
Don't spray it on the light!
Spray it on a rag and wipe!
Then immediately after soak it in a water and vinegar mix to neutralize the deet.
Then wash normally and done
Lasts for years too.
This is NOT the way to make a video guys, first of all, introduce the product you’re going to be using and then talk a little about what you’re going to do with it and then DO IT, come on!

Harbor fright restore kit. 400 grit 800 grit 3000 grit wetsand was brand new . Must remove layers
I used WD40 the morning of my cars MoT. It lasts long enough to get it through that part of the test but like others have said it soon gets back to foggy.
The trick is to spray some gloss after the wd40 last longer. Plastic sucks.
Yep, I tried that too. And goes back to the same problem. I then used 1200 grit wet sandpaper and the headlight kit of stripping off the clear coat wet sandpaper let it dry and spray paint clear coat!
Janky hack that doesnt last long. The Deet is melting the plastic not correcting the problem. Go get some 2000 grit wet sand paper and Meguiar's PlastX micro polish compound and do it right for under $10
2000 grit alone will take you about 2 hour per head light. I recommend 800 to start. The protective coating really comes off thick and it's the difference between cleaning the sand paper 120 times vs 5 times at 1 wash per minute. 800 1000 1500 2000 "3000". If you skip the 3000 you wont achieve perfection as you cant work a compound on plastic for very long without burning it. I recommend a compound then a polish after which you need to apply protection or all that work will be for nothing. Not all waxes are plastic safe so read the labels, follow the directions.

Yeah only until your headlights crack and break from freezing water. And crack from temperature changes, it would be 1000 times worse and more expensive to have glass headlights
Glass is harder to clean up after accidents which is why the changed it to plastics. Apparently the workers in charge of cleaning the accident scenes were reporting injuries.

Headlights get foggy because they are UV damaged and scratched, you cant clean damaged or scratched, you must repair it. This will only make the damaged surface smoother appearing newer, it'll be back to normal a day later. Your not cleaning a layer of dirt off the lenses rather your applying a coating clearing it up. That's not dirt that's age, can't wipe age away. It's oxidation in a sence, and when metal gets oxidized you have to sand it cant wipe rust off. Same here sand it, can't wipe it off. Bandaid fix.
Edward Myers.
If you believe such nonsense than I'd love to be your parts guy. There's a sucker born every minute. There's PLENTY of tricks to restore plastic lenses. This is just one more trick to add to the bucket list. The more eggs in the basket the merrier. I for one can vouch that some of these life hacks work well and last. Also, did you know there's a way to restore lead acid batteries? It dosent require some 47 dollar ebook either. Just baking soda, water, Epsom salt and simple instructions.
geoffrey walker that’s because the grit in the salt or baking soda acts as a polish and removes a layer of the plastic. On a smooth surface, light reflects evenly off of it, when it’s damaged and scratched the light gets dispersed in multiple directions and that’s what makes something look dull or foggy
2000 Grit Sand paper and buffing compound using a Foam buffing pad will make them brand new and they WILL STAY CLEAR!!!!!
Correct in everything you said
@@kittyfanatic1980 I repair my headlights the proper way instead of skimping on some bandaid style repair, as for restoring batteries, just buy a new one too many toxic chemicals that shouldn't be messed with
That needs a UV lacquer to stop it happening again. Once the factory coating is removed they will go opaque really fast without it.
Glass Mechanix does a good one, if you can get it.
Absolutely correct. You can sand, polish, etc as many times but its always gonna yellow up again. People need to put some uv protection after polish.
I have tested that, it works. Every 6 months or so I repeat it 😂
Gotta lot more than the headlights to work on 😂

What? Who makes a how to video, and never shows the "hack" product they use? I see a green spray can of some type product...oh, so this guy must be using a can of green spray paint (No, he's not and plz do not use sny form if spray paint), but when you forget to tell others what you use, people tend to use whatever fits. Hey video creator, my suggestion is you REMAKE THIS VIDEO showing a clear shot of the product you are using, and include a one week, one month, 6 month, 1 year, quick video update proving to your viewers that your hack lasts more than a day, then upload your new video. Something tells me, by reading user comments, that this hack only works for a very short time, which is not acceptable. Until you upload a better version, this video is worthless and receives a double 👎👎 THUMBS DOWN. 👋

You know the headlight fix is shortlived and the paint damage is permanent right?
It's not magic ladies and gentlemen any oil will do that to your lens I recommend you to fine fine sandpaper super fine and just give it a whole thing of sand down you have to take off that burnt plastic film on the surface and then you can put a clear coat spray on it and last you the longest but you can lick your finger and do that and it'll look good briefly
