What a fight. Brutal honesty and such great acting from both of them but they make amends and decide to keep trying at the end of this episode. I personally hated that she was ever with Lex and then the Phantom but some (if not most) will just blame Clark for not being more transparent with Lana from the start.

This scene, and Season 7 in general, nicely sums up why they were never able to make their relationship last. Clark and Lana are not in love with each other, they're in love with who they want each other to be, which is a subtle but important difference.
Clark still sees Lana as the quiet, sweet-natured girl next door he had been pining for ever since he was a boy, when as Lana herself says at the end of "Wrath", she has not been that person in a long, long time now, and Clark tends to look down on her when she falls short of his expectations. Meanwhile, Lana freely admits that she was a lot more happy with Bizarro than she ever was with Clark, because Bizarro was what she wished Clark would be: confident, spontaneous and slavishly devoted to her.
Clark and Lana kept trying to make this dysfunctional relationship work, over and over again, when it was blatantly obvious that they were just not compatible and eventually it just got painful to watch. Clark and Lana's relationship becomes physically toxic in Season 8, courtesy of Lex Luthor, but it had already been growing emotionally toxic for quite some time before then.

Yes. I think it’s taking people a decade to grow into this realization because most CW’s romantic relationships were a continuously toxic swirl. Joey and Dawson. Elena and Damon. Clark and Lana. Tom and Kristin knocked the sexual chemistry between young teenagers out of the ballpark, but Kristin also played the building resentment well. I wish some of her anger had longer scenes to drive the point home to the viewers. Clark wants a quiet nice girl who he treats a little like a doll where he doesn’t need to reveal inconvenient truths to her if he doesn’t feel like it. And because we all adore Superman, young Clark gets tons of passes with people excusing his bullshit. Lana is not perfect either, but a lot of trauma happens to her without her agency where as a lot of Clark’s aloofness and secrecy is a conscious decision he makes at the expense of honesty and intimacy in his relationship with Lana… Lois too, but Lois is older by the time she and CK are in love and she has a slew of coping skills that teen Lana didn’t.

Also courtesy of Lex Luthor was the reason why Lana was no longer that girl next door. Notice how over time, the more she was around Lex and involved with him as a friend (even way before they became a couple late in season 5) the less she was the person who Clark fell for. All the stuff she got involved with when working at the Talon and the underhanded things she did to stay in business and compete with the Beanery and all the other ways Lex shielded her from meteor freaks and the way Lex got her to go to Paris. The girl Clark fell for would have never gone to Paris but would have been happy in Smallville living a simple life. So Lana stopped being what Clark wanted a long long time ago. All the investigating she did with Lex into the Brainiac ship in season 5, none of that would have been done by the Lana Clark wanted.
Clark on the other hand never really changed personality wise but got a purpose in saving the world & people around him that Lana was not entirely aware of. Sure she knew Clark was a hero who saved her, Chloe, Lex, Pete and others around him but she didn't know the extent of his purpose. She had huge abandonment issues and was in no condition for any kind of relationship with a man because of that until she got psychiatric help, because the way she was, the only man who would have been enough to satisfy her was a protector slave like Bizarro who would be devoted to her 100% and protect her from all the evils in the world and even that after a while would get boring for her.
Also as Clark's purpose expanded and as he matured, the more dangerous it got for him to share who he was with anyone, even and especially with those closest to him because the evil people would always go after them to hurt Clark.
In the end, Lana knew she was cheating on Clark because by the time the events of Gemini & Persona happened, she was fully aware of Clark's secret and his purpose and she knew who Clark was and that the real Clark Kent was unable to be the "devoted-to-Lana" love slave that Bizarro presented himself to be. There's no way she would truly believe the real Clark Kent would ditch Smallville and all his responsibilities and fly her to Paris and live with her there. And the most disturbing thing is that she didn't even care or wonder what happened to the real Clark (or possibly what was wrong with Clark had she thought that Bizarro was the real Clark under the influence of some kind of kryptonite or external influence) so long as her fantasies were coming true. I don't care how much people defend Lana, but that is indefensible.

This is a tough scene, both are right in expressing how each other about felt about the disappointment topic that Lana brings up. The fact of the matter, the season 7 dilemma that took place is similar to the one that Martha Kent brings up about her and Jonathan at one point and them having a fight that drove Martha away from Jonathan for year. As far as Clark's self-righteous attitude, he is pointing out how she is shifting blame from herself over to him. It's easier to do that, than to look in the mirror. This is actually her turning point when it comes to who won the battle between the Cave Painting with the Two Heads that forms the Shape of a Heart, Lana was the innocent stuck in the middle of that battle. This season was all about which way would she go after that struggle further down the path of darkness shifting blame onto others and not assuming responsibility for herself or her actions, or look at herself and realize what she had lost of herself in that process. It's the tale of being caught in the middle of a battle between good and evil, of losing your light to darkness, and trying to find it again.

Lana has some good points here, but she's deflecting too. Clark reminds her that she has been acting out of hatred and revenge. She really can't face herself, and she must come to grips with the consequences of her actions. Can we blame her completely? She is VERY damaged. She just wanted to believe that Clark would be able to accept her the way Bizzo did. He wasn't very supportive at the moment, but Lana also needed the wake up

Lana was trying to make up with him but his resentment was unfair (although we his acting is can be understood because he didn’t know _everything_ what happened during his absence). Later, Lana didn’t want to mention Bizarro’s matter but Clark was adamant. So she didn’t _intentionally_ shouted at him that his doppelgänger was more affectionate and understanding than him. It’s like _’You really want to hear something like that? Ok. Get it!’_ By the way, this (her words were lie) is proved in ‘Gemini’ when Lana was gonna stop spying on Lex for _Clark._
At the end of the episode, Lana was gonna leave The Kents’ house for a few days to Clark calm down. When she nearly opened the door he immediately stopped her. And her sensible eyes said she didn’t want to leave, she was waiting those words, her feelings for _Clark_ were real, _not Bizarro._ He (Clark) _realized his mistake_ and wanted to make up with her, he didn’t want to let her go.
This scene reminds me the scene in ‘Promise’ when before Lexana’s wedding Martha told Clark her own story. She and Jonathan had a horrible argument and she broke up with him. Then they reunited because she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Between couples Clana and Martha&Jonathan there are many parallels. For example, episode ‘Ageless’ when Clark and Lana found a special boy in a field and cared about him as if he was their own child. And the line at the end that it was not Clana but Evan found them 💗

It’s a fact that Lana fell for an abuser when she turned to Lex, and now she’s spiraling in shame, but Clark isn’t helping. Honestly, if I were violated, the way Lana was by Lex, I’d go on a vengeful murder spree, and I expect my true love, aka Clark Kent, to help me with it instead of waxing poetics. Also, it’s not Lana’s fault that she didn’t know the phantom looking identical to her bf is not her bf.

Lana's not wrong, though. I love Clark but one of the most annoying things about him is what a self righteous hypocrite he is. Clark lies ALL THE TIME and is usually only honest when it's his only option (which, I understand to a degree because his secret is dangerous), but then he loves to throw it in other people's faces when they're less than truthful with him. Throwing it in her face that she was with Lex is ridiculous considering the fact that both he and Chloe refused to tell her just how dangerous Lex was. All they'd do was give her vague warnings and consider that good enough when they full well all of the shady things Lex was doing. Again, I get why he keeps his secrets for the most part, but it wouldn't kill him to try and show a little understanding to other people's point views and why they may lie sometimes. Lana was violated by Lex and forced to marry him because of Lionel. Even if she didn't go about things the right way, she has more than enough reasons to be angry at the Luthors.

Couple that up with the fact that he's the biggest hypocrite and you have yourself a troubled relationship. The bad state of their relationship at this moment is literally due to all the damage that Clark keeping his secret has caused. Most significantly, if he was honest with her she never would've been with Lex in the first place. Clark is a good guy, but his good intentions destroyed that relationship. Not to mention, if the point is to be honest with your partner, why did Lana hid so much from Clark even AFTER he told her the truth??? Clark Luthor was quite different from Bizarro Clark so bad comparison. As for Lana saying that to Bizarro Clark, how could anyone blame her for saying that? Bizzaro was giving her everything that regular Clark would give her and more. He was as Lana said, much more affectionate and far more understanding. At the end of the day it was clear who Lana loved because she ended up choosing the right Clark. Lana loved Clark and Clarkd id love Lana, he just didn't know how to love her. The difference between Lois and Lana is that Clark AND Lana had caused a lot of damage to each other in that relationship, but it was mainly due to Clark's 'secret'. Reading all the comments, it would’ve been interesting to see Clark say to Lana “I have a secret and I cannot share it with you, not yet, don’t know if ever” and see if the writers would’ve made Lana STILL try to figure it out manipulating situations, just to know her true colors. Then we would move past the narrative that “she deserved to know every detail about Clark bc they were in a relationship,” which it’s not true per se, you are not entitled to know what people don’t want to tell you BUT since this was an aspect that affected Lana, her life and security, at least she deserved that Clark acknowledged that there was something he was keeping secret and that he would still keep secret not the “secret? Nah, you’re imagining things” thing he played with her.
Btw,I’ve been watching Smallville again from S1 and Lana stared to push Clark into telling her his secret, and getting offended when he didn’t, since the first couple of episodes of S2 after he rescued her from that tornado. They were not a couple then to say she had the right to know.

But Clana is a terrible couple because the relationship between Clark and Lana is pretty awful . Because there relationship is filt with doubt pain sorrow and it’s just a soap opera teenage love drama and it’s just irritaiting. And also Lana can’t figure out when it’s the Clark and with Lana She’s forcing Clark To tell her about his Secret Powers Identity and Origin and that people is the reason why Clois is Amazing and Why Clana is just Awful.

As for the "chemistry" I wouldn't touch that subject if I were you because I can easiky show yiu scenes where CLANA put clois into shame,,,,

People rejecting Clark land Love based on this couldn't be more wrong.... I have a long list of scenes that prove Lana and Clark were a far better love story than Lois and Clark.. Lois never cares about Clark, she thought of Clark as a dork for 4 seasons and never suspected him to be anyone worthwhile. Lois is completely surprised when Clark turns out to be the Blur. Lois cared about Oliver and when she suspected he was Green arrow she did everything to find out his secrets. Lois never supports Clarks whereas Lana was there for him so many times... the list with scenes and episodes is below...
In Season 3 Ep 4 After the commando Anti-meteor vigilante tells Lana he k!lled Clark.. Lana attacks him and then instead of saving herself she risks her life to report the attack on Clark to the cops. Lois never risked her life for Clark even once.
In S05E13, After Clark's father's watch is stolen Lana goes to all Metropolis pawn shops and finds the watch, despite the fact that she was upset at Clark for keeping secrets from her. Jonathan's death is one of the most difficult times for Clark but Lois is never once seen consoling Clark. What kind of friend is that? This despite how much the Kent's had supported Lois during her time in Smallville.
In Season 1 and 2 there are dozens of scenes where Clark and Lana support each other throughout their emotional struggles. In Season 2 Episode 11 Lana says she doesn't care about Clark's secrets. In season 2 Episode 21 Lana initiates relationship with Clark despite knowing he is not being honest with her. It is Clark that pushes her away throughout because of his fears of hurting... Lana is always there for him. The real truth is Clark never cared for Lois anywhere near as much as he cared for Lana. Clark never shows as much fear for Lois safety and welbeing as he does for Lana's welbeing.
Lana says in Season 5 episode 3 after Clark was shot and was lying in hospital unconscious that from the first moment she saw him she knew Noone could make her as happy as he could but she also knew that he would always be running around trying to help others, and that this day (aka the day he is dying in hospital) would come and it was what made her pull away. In short, Lana loved Clark and Clark loved Lana from the first moment they saw each other.
Further more, In Season 1 episode 19 seeing Chloe and Clark become closer Lana decides to break up with Whitney but doesn't because Whitney's father dies in that episode. In season 1 episode 10 Clark and Lana nearly kiss but Clark decides not to go for it because he knows Whitney's father is ill and kissing would hurt Lana later. Only reason Lana doesn't break up with Whitney in season 1-2 is because of his father's illness, later his death and Whitney going to war. In Season 3 she does everything she can to make things work with Clark after he runs off and only gives up after she is literally brainwashed by magent boy in season 3 episode 7. Despite being brainwashed her love for Clark only slightly reduces, and she tells Clark she won't wait for him forever.
In Season 4 Finale, Lana eventually confesses her Love to Clark again and freely gives the Element key to Clark. She denied the element to both Jason and Lex. S04 Episode 19 where Clark loses his memory and falls for Lana with just one look, and S04 E21 where Clark and Lana find and raise a baby together are also examples of their love for each other.
In S05 Clark breaks her heart because he couldn't continue hurting her by lying to her about his powers and inability to be physically intimate with her... And she goes into a tailspin of depression which almost results in her death S05 episode 17. Lex then takes advantage of her extreme emotional vulnerability to manipulate her into sex and later convinces her marry with false pregnancy. She only marries Lex because Lionel threatens to murder Clarke if she doesn't do it.
Lana dies, get tortured, enters into a false marriage, absorbs Kryptonite all to protect Clark. The sacrifices she makes for Clark are so many and so large that Lois can't hold a Candle to them... Also Lana despite everything never disrespects Clark which Lois continuously treats him like an immature boy for 4 years. Lois sees Clark fully nude in Season 04, but shows almost no s€xual interest in Clark till Season 8. Lana befriended and fell in love with the boy next door and vice versa... They were both orphans, both came from the same background and had a lot in common.
Lois's love for Clark has no basis, she thinks he is a dork, their love is just something written into the script to make comic book fans happy. Lois first comes to smallville she hat€s Smallville because it's a boring small town. But then she just keeps coming back why? It's written in the script that is why... Lois is supposed to be an Army brat raised by an hororable general but from the moment she comes she behaves more like a spoiled brat. At first she imposes herself on the Kents and abus€s their hospitality without doing anything in return for them. Even Lex was a better house guest that Lois. Also Lois's alleged closeness with Chloe never makes it on to screen and is never explained. Chloe lived her entire childhood in Smallville, Lois never even came to smallville before Season 4 so how were they so close? Chloe has more sisterly scenes with Lana than Lois.
Lois is a badly written character in Smallville first she hat€s Smallville then she can't get enough of Smallville. First she thinks that Clark aka the extremely handsome guy who is over 6 ft tall and has a 6 pack is a "los€r". Any number of comments where she puts down Clark to other Characters across multiple seasons is proof, this only changes in later seasons. Clark also is not physically attracted to Lois unlike his electric biological and even generational attraction to Lana. Remember Jor-El had an affair with Lana's great Aunt not Lois's great aunt. I am not saying Lois and Clark can't hook up but it's at best a mild attraction. They have very little in common, they are not physically attracted to each other much. Like I said before, Lois and Clark is more like a boring accountant romance. Lois and Clark is a relationship of convinience which is real life would either lead to an unhappy sexless marriage or a break up... Lana and Clark are true soulmates, they are torn apart by circumstances beyond their control not each other.

@@zaysclubs naww bro. Lana is truly one that constantly causes mischief for Clark. Lana went after Lex when she assured him that she was over him. Then she had Lionel kidnapped for weeks in the house by the Dam where Lex was building his super soldiers. She attacked Clark who came to help Lex from being killed by Lana when she mistakenly absorbed some of his powers. She attacked Lois and Gabriel when they didn’t want to publish her revenge seeking information on Lex concerning Project Scion. She stole 10 million from Lex as well. Lana is weak mentally and she felt she needed powers to protect herself, in the end of it. Lana lost those powers and then she lost Clark forever to Lois. Lois is a diehard women that will have his back and she demonstrates that point multiple times. Lana is flaky as hell, when things get hairy, she runs away all the time. Lana lacks accountability as well. Lionel told her to let Clark go because you are bringing him down and she was. Chloe told her to her face, she wants Clark to have loyalty in his life and she said he wasn’t gonna come from Lana. She was indeed correct
