      One thing Marvel didnt handle well with many other things is Thor's Trauma!
      For God sake, he endured trauma after trauma! Mother, father, brother deaths, unknown sister being evil, loosing his identity (as he feels)= hammer, his kingdom, repeated humiliation for thousand years old god of not being powerful avenger which is used as joke(understandable), failing to save humanity too from thanos's hand....what marvel did? Drunk jokes, fat jokes, make him more dummer...
      They had freaking chance to dive into Trauma handling! Making gods relatable to humans! Showing that even gods are battling for their dead spirited life to have a spark and reason to live! His meditative journey could have dived deeper into! How he battled with his internal cries and weak moments, some psychological aid from his mates, some deep talks, Guardians of galaxy goofed around him, not a single hero took him and his trauma/failure seriously!..i mean for crying out loud sake, Gorr lost his one daughter in his hand and he went out on rampage of killing all the gods! Thats the trauma, rage, miscalculation, twisted sense of living one goes into after a huge traumatic personal loss... where's Thor's redemption arc?
      Oh and if the implication is that after reviving the half dead humanity, he probably felt fine, victorious, redeemed...well thats not how it works given the scale of number of losses he endured...soldiers go on battles, wars. Having gorr attack olympia would have been great. They could also have used that scene to tell him about Eternity. Maybe he tortures one god after retreating to tell him. It felt akward when they said he won't reach eternity because we weren't told before that that is his plan.
    I was also pissed by thor making the same mistake with the bifrost as in ragnarok.

    They literally took the Gorr storyline from the books that was deadly serious in it's tone,won countless awards for it's storytelling and art, described as one of the best books ever and brought it to the movie screen not even resembling a percentage of what's in the book. Dumbed it down with countless jokes that fell flat. I understand changing a few things but they took a story and ripped it to shreds. And B4 someone says it's just comic book nerds crying about them changing their favorite characters,a lot of times the story can still be amazing if you left it alone. Imagine lord of the rings,Harry Potter and other books that were made into movies if they just changed majority of it. Hela killed more gods onscreen than Gorr. Thor had to get his teenage self, present and future self to team up to fight him and even that wasn't enough.i thought marvel would get past the bring in badass villains then kill them off after one movie tropes but I was wrong.

    • @mowgli6345
      @mowgli6345 Před rokem +9

      They should have never touched the storyline at all to be honest. Everyone is mad about the comedic tone of the film, but look at Waititi's catalogue of work, and Love and Thunder is consistent with it. I'm fairly certain it was widely accepted that Ragnarok was a much needed refresh of Thor's character after the first two films, and it was a bold new direction that you can't just switch back to serious from, esp if you're keeping Waititi at the helm.
      Instead of chasing hype, they really just should have left this storyline in the books. There's nowhere they could have gone with it.

    The Korg Mother part could be explained as the "mother" is the parent who gives birth, regardless of the fact both parents seem "male". An example I've seen before is used in Mass Effect. Asari are an "All Female" race, in that they all use female pronouns, and appear feminine or as females, but when two Asari get together to produce a daughter, they still call the parent who didn't give birth "Father". So it could be an example like that... or just a plot mistake.

Even when they are victorious they come home with trauma, anxiety of post war effects! Victory do not compensate for the traumatic experiences

    I think Thanos doesn't know about Eternity's wish at the center of the universe and Stormbreaker being the key to it. Gorr only knew of it because the Necrosword whispered it to him. The sword's existence predates the infinity stones as far as I can recall.

    I can't believe you didn't even think that Gorr might show up where Zeus is entertaining all the Gods, butchering away, because some of us were conjecturing that the reason why Valkyrie had Zeus' lightning bolt in the trailer was that Gorr had killed him (and who knows what other gods), and assumed that they would be going to New Asgaard from Olympus (instead of the other way around) because that's where Gorr was apparently heading next, we decided.

    I had the thought about halfway through that this movie isn't depicting the actual events. The framing device is Korg telling the story. We are watching Korg's version of what happened. I was already enjoying the film, but once I started thinking of it that way I enjoyed it even more. Plus, it makes the oddly placed jokes and humor make sense. That's exactly the kind of thing I could see Korg do when he is telling the part of a story that he finds sad or uncomfortable.

  • @manojsunder8558
    @manojsunder8558 Před 2 lety +12

    Actually a lot of people seemed to miss out that Zeus tells Thor that omnipotence city is hidden out somewhere between realms so unless someone's a god or has been there before or know where it is, no one can find this city of the gods, that's why Zeus and all gods wanted to stay there for safety.

    • @loveunityandpeace
      @loveunityandpeace Před 2 lety +4

      Still would have been interesting if Gorr was finding gods and torturing them for information to omnipotence city so he could find the information to eternity. It felt too easy for him to find the information. Was it the axe or the bifrost that allows you to enter Eternity? Bifrost makes sense. Stormbreaker? That was created 5 or 6 years ago.

      But Ryan wasn’t trying to say the it didn’t make sense, he was saying that it was a missed opportunity plot-wise. Instead of having a meeting with a bunch of gods and making up some arbitrary justification for why the god-butcher couldn’t be there, they could have made a cool fight scene out of it.

    6:15 "Gorr steals StormBreaker" -> This film introduces two contradictions. Stormbreaker is a living being with a mind of its own and *jealous* of Thor's relationship with Mjolnir. But - Gorr just steals it, and it does nothing, does his bidding with no problem. And now Thor can't summon it, even though the whole point is that the thing can reach from here to Eternity - literally. Taika, Taika, Taika, you must take us all for fools. Don't write garbage and serve it to us, again.

    The thing about Thanos not using Eternity makes sense lore-wise but wasn't well explained in the film. Eternity is a sentient being prone to subjectivity. 'Erase half of all life.' could be interpreted many ways - as Ryan notes in his Infinity War/Endgame pitch meetings himself. The infinity gauntlet (specifically the Mind Stone) operate from the pure will of the user, essentially auto-correcting all such loopholes and ironing out the kinks to guarantee an outcome as fully aligned to user intent as possible. Thanos meant for his outcome to be exact. Gor was fine if his was messy -- and even the wish he did ask for wound up messy: His daughter revived...But was now a cosmically powered being.
