- 🥰 How to Apply Vinyl Using the Wet Method. Are you struggling with bubbles in your adhesive vinyl projects? Are you looking for a way to avoid that pesky static cling that snaps your vinyl into place before you're ready? Tips and tricks below 👇
This tutorial is a great introduction to applying adhesive vinyl to your project using the wet method. This video will walk you through how to mix your homemade application solution, how to use the solution with your vinyl design, and how to apply the vinyl with your squeegee to eliminate bubbles. In addition, the wet method will give you a buffer to allow minor adjustments in placement during application, and we give you a little preview of reverse layering when applying a decal from the backside of a clear surface.

A worked at a sign company. Suggestion, if you have some tiny bubbles, sit the item in the sun and the sun will evaporate the moisture and bubble will disappear.
or use a pin to stab the bubble and it will lay flat

Hi Crissa! I totally get it! I hope this wet method will help alleviate some of that anxiety 😊
It looks more 3D. Nice idea

Thanks Becky. I have tried the wet method but I don’t think I had soap in the water. Now I know!!
Happy to help, thank you for watching! 😊

Wow! I am excited to try this. I get so frustrated when I get bubbles. Thank You!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching! 😊
Thanks Becky!! Great video!! Excited to try this method. Does the adhesive vinyl lose any of it's stickiness this way when you wet it or same as when dry? Thank you!
Nope, the vinyl is still just as good as applying it dry. In fact, most professional vinyl users apply their decals using the wet method (but a "professional level" application fluid). Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thank you. Can’t wait to try it. Do you have a link to the paper adhesive you were referring to?
I sure do, this is the one I usually have on hand. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Hi, I have applied vinyl using the dry method onto the back of the glass. In different lights you can see where rhe adhesive of the vinyl glistens, its not a smooth finish like sticking vinyl straight onto something. Does the wet method help with this please do you know? Thank you
Doesn't the water take the stickiness away from the vinyl? how long it takes to dry? thanks
Can you use any dish detergent or does it have to be Dawn brand?
Does adding a dark offset help the white stand out? I tried applying white vinyl on backside of glass for a shadow box, and the white never really showed up. How much of an offset did you do.
Thanks so much for all your videos!!!
Hey Dana! Yes, the offset is a huge help! I usually start with an offset of 0.05 and increase if that is too thin. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Have heard the term, but didn't know how to do it. What I don't understand if you spray water on it.. the sticky side of vinyl, how is it still sticky to stay on? I'm I missing something? Know what you mean about bubbles and you can't, well can use a pin, but it leaves a mark.going ro save to rewatch for time to try this. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Laura, once you press on the vinyl, it squeezes out the water and so the sticky adhesive on the vinyl is able to adhere. Hope this helps! ---Becky
What am I doing wrong? I lightly spritzed my vinyl but I cannot get it to stick to the glass. I see yours stuck down immediately. I’ve even tried letting it dry before removing the transfer tape but it still won’t stick down. Ideas?
Would this method make applying permanent vinyl to wine glasses easier? Food for thought
Thank you for the tip.
It works great on all glass surfaces Janice. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Did you mirror the cuts with the Vinyl? Permanent or Removable ?
Hey Patty, I did mirror the image since this went on the inside of the glass, and this is permanent adhesive vinyl. Hope this helps! ---Becky
WHAT SIDE OF THE DESIGN DID YOU SPRAY?
The sticky side
The adhesive side that is exposed after using your transfer tape. Hope this helps! ---Becky
can you use this method on a Starbucks plastic cup?
You definitely can! 😊
At 8.30 the design is placed down with no repositioning so could have been done dry
It sure could have Mark, but then using the wet method helps remove the air bubbles too, not just repositioning. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Never works for me🥲
Oh no! What type of trouble are you having with it?
