    There are dozens of videos on brine shrimp hatching on YT, and they are all basically correct, but with Dean you get "value added" content as far as the little attention to detail that his wealth of experience that years of doing this and constantly look to make the process work better for him each time. Thanks Jimmy.

    I just want to say a big thanks to Dean for this little guide. Using his rough measurements I hatched my first ever batch with great success. My male Apisto finally has a full stomach after refusing anything prepared or frozen.
    For my first attempt, I used a less permanent version of a USB air pump connected to a drinking stray to get the air at the bottom of a water bottle.

Wonderful insight to some of the parameters and i like the little tools that Dean always seems to have handy, like the goose-necked light that's separate from the room lighting. I bought all of the items that are recommended and this system works great. Yes, the Ziss, is nice and larger, but more expensive and has a bigger footprint. This is perfect for my 6 aquariums. There are two tips that I can offer, I used a hole saw that I had to drill out the bottom and it fit perfect. I had to add a short piece of tubing (flexible co-op type) between the ball valve and the bottle cap. The bottle caps that I received leaked when connected directly to the ball valve. I just need to make a nice hanger like Dean has. Right now, I'm using coat hanger pieces that begin to rust after the the first use. Great system overall.

    SF brine shrimp eggs (Artemia franciscana sp.) at a 70% hatch rate produce approximately 252,000 nauplii per gram of egg. Newly hatched nauplii are approximately 434 microns.

    • @deansfishroom
      @deansfishroom Před 5 lety +4

      WOW!!! I am seriously humbled that a National/International company would take the time to comment on a video that I'm in. Note the micron size of 434 that these hatch at, they are much smaller than the great salt lake brine shrimp nauplii. This is what makes them great for those really small fry such as rainbows, barbs, tetras, and bettas, they are able to feed on a super nutritious live food days or sometimes weeks earlier. This gives them that initial growth spurt which translates into a much higher survival rate. I've used their brine shrimp eggs as well as their frozen brine shrimp for many many years.
