First Ride on my 1975 Velosolex 5000

I recently bought a 1975 Velosolex 5000 moped on eBay. I then set about making it road legal (a list of what I had to do is at the bottom of this description.
The bike had never been road registered in the UK, but does have some kind of French insurance sticker on the frame from 1996.
I added some fresh petrol with the correct amount of 2 stroke oil mixed in and the bike started very easily. Velosolex are not known to be very quick, putting out somewhere in the region of 0.7bhp when they were new 50 years ago, but this one gets my not inconsiderable frame up the road at about 21mph on a level road. It runs very quietly.
Here in the UK the following is required to make a Velosolex road legal.
(1) Notify the HMRC (tax man) that the moped has been imported into the UK, to see if there's any tax payable (my moped was imported on an unknown date by an unknown person and there was no tax to pay). This is called a Notification of Vehicle Arrival (NOVA).
(2) Obtain a dating certificate from a recognised historic motorcycle club, to accurate age the moped as it came with no paperwork.
(3) Send the NOVA paperwork, dating certificate and completed Vehicle Registration Form (V55/5) to the DVLA along with a cheque for £55.
(4) Pray that the DVLA are happy with the documentation you've provided, register the vehicle on their database, issue an age related registration number and issue a vehicle log book (V5).
(5) Have a number plate made for the vehicle.
