Not sure what I appreciate best. The outstanding cinematography, the superb performance of the orchestra or the almost possessed conducting by Mr Von Karajan. I think I will settle though for the score composed by a certain gentleman called Van Beethoven.
As far as my knowledge goes, this 1971 version was only video recorded, but you can listen to the 1977 cycle of the Beethoven symphonies which in my opinion are the most similar to what you can hear here…
