It is heartwarming and life-affirming to know that we live in the very time that Bob Dylan lives and that you Malcolm Guite live! Every day I feel, in this isolated little world, blessed by your enthusiasm for life‘s gifts of poetry, song and in my case painting.

I spent my teenage years in 60s entranced & revelling in Dylan’s music & verse and in a wonderful way the magic is still there undiminished now...when I’m old & worn. Happy 80th to the mercurial old boy indeed.

Greetings from a fellow Bobcat. So many great lyrics, such a cool cat. I feel fortunate to have come of age, digging his music. "The times they are a changing" always and ever.

Hey Malcolm. I share birthdays with Dylan, except he’s ten years my senior. I feel a deep kinship with you and him. A reel yearning from within!

My son's middle names are Dylan Thomas, an homage to both Bob Dylan and Dylan Thomas. Tangled Up In Blue was playing at the moment of his birth,.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Simple Twist of Fate is one of my favorites to play/sing, and I always have to choose what version of lyrics to sing. Same thing with Tangled Up In Blue. Great job, Malcolm.

I am so fond of the "poem of your being", Malcolm, although I've never met you. I admire God's creativity and give thanks to Him for thinking you up (to hint at Lewis). I hope I am not too forward in my clumsy articulation. Greetings from Croatia!

Thank you for sharing, as a schoolboy aspiring to be a musician 'back in the Day' , Dylan was also prominent in my beginings, although for myself the song most noteable was 'All Along the Watchtower', . I hope the move goes smoothly as possible for you both {and the dogs , of course}. Steve.

I found an amazing artist while I was getting into Bob Dylan's music. His name is Dave Van Ronk. He's undoubtably famous but not nearly as much of a household name as Dylan. You should give him a listen when you can. Through Dave Van Ronk I found my way into what's now my favorite genre of music. I've heard it called "Outlaw Country". Blaze Foley was the first one I discovered, and his songs have influenced my guitar playing more than anyone. My absolute favorite is Townes Van Zandt. Give them all a listen if you find the time. You're my favorite person on the internet currently.

@@MalcolmGuitespell I know Hendrix was heavily influenced by Dylan and actually covered quite a few of his songs. But for me Hendrix was a poet as much as a six string savant. I'm sure you have heard it, but if not, you must listen to "Bold As Love (Just Ask The Axis)" check this out for a verse,
      Anger, he smiles,
Towering in shiny metallic purple armor,
Queen Jealousy, envy waits behind him,
Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground
Blue are the life-giving waters taken for granted
      They quietly understand
Once happy turquoise armies lay opposite ready
But wonder why the fight is on
      Magical, eh?

Thank you, Malcolm, for another enjoyable 'Spell.' Of all the tracks on 'Blood', that is a particular favourite of mine. However, I have always strongly disliked the way Bob's voice rises to the tonic octave on the 'fate/freight/wait' word (and shouts it!); thank you so much for not copying him!!

Thanks, very enjoyable. You have obviously read many books. It is puzzling to me that you would have read and collected so many Bob Dylan books and yet you claim to have never heard of "The Flashman Papers".
Anyone who is interested in British history and hasn't read any of the Flashman series is doing themselves a serious disservice 🍻 Cheers
