You said in a previous candle reading that we would play a game! Just happened! I am high risk for COVID but sit on and advisory board. I have board games sitting in storage for almost 5 years! I have a game I purchased in 2020 thinking the pandemic wouldn't last that long...
I had to participate in an event as a para officials (I don't get paid for it and there is no governmental code for the position). I watched some of the supplies and stayed for set up, left. When I came back, one of the only other members I genuinely think of as a good person was sitting on the grass (The 2 chairs were already taken, maskless board members under the tent, and I like grass and brought my own shade device.). So we sit and play the new game while one of her family members she brought who can translate played with us. I was also surprised because this other board member is ESL and she showed she knows more English than I was aware of. I want to learn Spanish, but my ADHD keeps getting in the way. Spirit keeps telling me to learn ASL, which is more medically appropriate as someone with selective mutism, and I was working through Korean on a language app but kept having to delete the app for more space.
My ex has started talking about board game nights (I am unhoused and he is finally housed and helps me, but it's dramatic dealing with him.), which is something I have been asking about, and keeping my board games at his place is one less thing to keep in storage stting unused.
There's also a community event coming up and I will be sharing my board games with the public, but I don't plan on playing them myself as there will be alot of people. I can help with the planning, but it's just too many people during the event. I will likely enjoy the music from the outskirts.).
There was talk about a few of my neighbors who camped within a block of me (We got into temporary hotel programs) meeting up to play board games, but if hasn't happened. One is raising money to try to move in with family in another state. They have alot of import rules even for her dog which set her back. But maybe we can play games before then.
It was funny, none of the board members who I genuinely think of as bad people or have shown their true colors now that I have to deal with them and hear the shit they say before or after meetings or otherwise at official events or in the emails which go to the board wanted to play. One of the members who I thought was nice had the audacity to ask another member about implementing an unconstitutional law on a disenfranchised demographic of constituents to rob them of their stakeholder status, and then proceeded to spout a misconception one of our actual public officials keeps spouting and promoting to make people hate people of said demographic while bringing back an unconstitutional ordinance for which I know of at least one case study where the city lost because it violated the 8th amendment. I really lost faith in these people.
But the people I didn't lose faith in, were the ones who played with me. So I guess that's the closest thing to playing games with friends (We can't actually be friends. It's code of conduct/ethics violation. What I have noticed is that we're the only two people who have similar thoughts when it comes to local politics, however they have a language barrier which affects their ability to speak up. They ran a whole term and only just now with my trying to make a motion to have the agendas be bilingual did an executive member do it without bringing it up to the board. A whole fucking term, and they couldn't even bother until an English speaker said something! And historically 50% of our constituents were Spanish speaking. Only during the pandemic with Zoom translation did anyone even bother to start offering language services.).
