City Harvest @cityharvestnyc helped start the food rescue movement over 40 years ago in New York City.
Neighbors across New York City rely on City Harvest to help fill their plates with fresh, nutritious food. This year, they will rescue more than 77 million pounds of food and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries and soup kitchens across the five boroughs to help feed New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity.
Together with a network of more than 400 food pantries and soup kitchens across the city, we are working hard to help feed the nearly 3 million New Yorkers struggling to make ends meet.
Since our founding more than 40 years ago, City Harvest has rescued more than one billion pounds of surplus food that would have otherwise gone to waste and delivered it, free of charge, to our partner food pantries and soup kitchens, Community Partner Distributions, and our Mobile Markets® to help feed New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity.
