This is most definitely the most discussed song/video of theirs. It's a masterpiece. And it's NOT about sex....it's about their obsession with their craft....music/dancing. It's beautiful. So many people misconceive the meaning of this and I think BangChan and Hyunjin (they each accuse the other of writing this) think it's amusing.

This never gets old- the overt sexual scenes but also the underlying message of obsession with work and the flashing red lights.. they can take any simple topic and create a lyrical masterpiece

The director is NOVVKIM, one of their more frequent b-side directors (he also did Surfin' and Gone Away on this album, meaning all three of the unit songs). He's probably my favorite among the directors they work with. Anyone who can create the hidden complex story of Gone Away, the silly summer fun of Surfin', the deliberately over-the-top cringe of Your Eyes to emphasize that stage of a relationship, and the openly homoerotic bdsm art of Red Lights and its mirror-imaging to use sex/sensuality and bondage as a metaphor for the obsession and backstory of this song has range for

Your chats mentioned it but yeah there's a certain niche of SKZ song, which comprise of Red Lights, Taste and Drive which are ..... saucy. There's MV for Red Lights as you already reacted, and there's an MV for Drive which are, not really transitions-oriented. To date, there's no official MV for Taste, but you can find it's live version and be sure to prepare your heart for the choreo.

So… Red Lights is not just about the overt meaning that most people glean. They had a few episodes of behind the scenes about all the unit songs from this album called Howl in Harmony, and they made this song very intentionally sticky, but it is also about obsession in any aspect of your life - these two are known for being insomniacs, perfectionists and workaholics with Bangchan working on the music late into the night (which is referenced by ‘set the mic up’).

They had you speechless... 🤭 I love it! Red Lights is one of my all-time favorite SKZ songs and video. To think it was created out of a unit project with the members splitting into 3 groups. There's a fun video about all three groups and how they came up with their songs and videos.

seriously enjoy your point of view. would love to see you react to their making of MV videos. it shows a great side of them not taking things too seriously. the joy they have filming you probably wouldn't see on a Beyonce MV set.
