- Going through the whole process of installing the Vanquish products VFD transmission into the Axial CJ7 SCX10iii.

Harley’s part certainly ruined the scx10iii platform as it was and made it 1000% better as a result.

I did the same one year ago, with their twin vfd twin transmission in my Gladiator. That thing is a beast 😁

If you remind the battery tray that goes from the left to right in front of the rear wheels. You will find two mounting holes for the tray. If you cut those off, your rear suspension will have a longer travel 🙂

Are yall trying to make this a crawler? I love the rig but from day one i have thought it a gorgeous trail truck. I don't get comparing everything with 2 straight axles to competition rigs. I do modify my rides but i also wouldn't try making my 8s Outcast EXB a speed run rig. The comments section just seems full of folks down on this truck for the wrong reasons.
Not so much making it any sort of competition level right now. It’s a sweet trail truck that has performance potential for a bit more than factory gave. I call it performance scale
He might do a conversion for the VFD Twin. I think it would be awesome to have 2wd/4wd option. Only for the coolness factor. My question is, would installing a VFD in your SCX disqualify you from running it at an Axialfest? I'm currently building a mashigan on a Bronco chassis for Axialfest West this year and I don't want to risk it not passing inspection. This will be my first year attending so excuse my ignorance of the rules.
The requirements for axial fest are always debated but as long as the chassis and or driveline is axial based you are fine. This still retains the chassis and axles so good to go.
Look at the bootlickers you’ve upset calling out a cleverly disguised advertisement channel… love it!

@@BSalc I designed a front servo mount for it so you can still use the VFD shroud, also an extra mount for the left side of the transmission :) there on cults/thingiverse

Notice a gear ratio change between the 2 transmissions?
It’s a noticeably better ratio and now I can adjust the overdrive inside the transmission

No, the mounts are different for that transmission
If you didn't already have a VFD laying around, do you think the gains are worth the $120+ to do the conversion?
I would recommend going on the vanquish buy sell group and find Rob Matheny and buy one from him. He parts out new rigs and it’s much cheaper. But yes. Better trans and more options for over drive in the VFD

What lights did you use that are the bucket lights by window?
They were from boom racing. I didn’t put leds in them but they come with them. $9.99 I think

It’s a bit of an inside joke on ruining things. It’s by far better but no longer stock is all. I personally love the VFD in this platform

@@ateaserc Fair enough. Can’t tell you how to do your videos. I’ve had awful music in my vids before. All I’ll say is, maybe some intermissions where you share your thoughts. Harley Designs is respected in the RC community. “Ruined”, came as a bit of surprise to me. That man puts his reputation on the line every time he speaks.

Why spend $500 on an inferior chassis platform and have to spend hundreds more and many hours of your time in hopes of making perform better because you like the body? This is counterproductive people.
I don’t think I’ve ever left an RC vehicle stock…. Maybe I should start trying that.
Each to their own, room in this hobby for everybody, don't need negative people.
Part of the fun is making that inferior chassis function better. if everything was a comp crawler out of the box there would be no aftermarket
