The music is amazing - Beethoven at his best! Wow! And the group playing it - precise, together, in tune, musical and has "punch" & dynamics. The basset hornist is superb! And the recording lets solo instruments stand out in sound and visually, excellent. The conductor coordinated the ensemble balance & tempos magnificently. I think van Beethoven would be proud, RIP Ludwig, your music is in good hands here!

I agree with you as regards performance. The music is, however, far from being Beethoven's best. Incidental music seldom is.

Beethoven's Prometheus is a magical composition relating to the mythological story of the Titan of knowledge. He is the symbol of enlightenment. The listener can appreciate the exquisite beauty in the excellence of lightness and contrasts in the dynamics. The Orchestre de Chambre Pelléas and the conductor present a mesmerising performance!

    Beethoven

Well that is one of the few things that would make me watch a ballet. Beethoven made only one ballet. And only one opera - after Fidelio he claimed it a failure. But failing in such a way ..... that exceeds most peoples notion of complete success.

After having enjoyed this music, how reconforting it is to see the conductor showing his appreciation of members of the orchestra BEFORE turning towards the audience. There are recordings with a solo instrument where I find the ensemble as important as the soloist. In some passages, how would the pianist take my breath away without the background emotion brought by strings and winds? .-
