- On 7/19/23 we were ready to get out for a short hike with our little one after a day of recoup from the Monroe Skyline Traverse on 7/17/23. I did some research on small "family" hikes in the area we were staying in Warren, Vermont and Sunset Ledge seemed it would fit the bill perfectly. Sunset Ledge is also along Vermont's 273 mile Long Trail.
Right around 2 miles round-trip and a mere 500' of elevation gain (from Lincoln Gap Road Trailhead), this was a great small hike that I would highly recommend if you have a little one of your own or even just young kids. It seemed like we were at the ledge in no time, and it afforded fantastic views to the west towards Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks as well as restricted views north towards Mount Abraham and the Monroe Skyline traverse we attacked two days previously.
The weather was perfect (yay no humidity finally!), bugs were minimal, the forest was lush and green, and there were even a few viewpoints before the ledges themselves if you were adventurous enough to poke around a bit!

Sweet family hike! I love that you’re taking your little one out! Very relaxing stroll..
Yes it was a perfect little hike for us and a gorgeous day :) she really has enjoyed so far, hoping it will encourage her liking to hike as she gets older haha! She's pretty happy as long as she's moving, so far we've done Wachusett with her a few times, Mount Willard, and a few other small hikes. That carrier is great! Very chill and great day!
