    Dave’s first production amplifier, the BE-100, is criticality acclaimed and one on the most in demand British high gain meets vintage amps on the market today. The Pink Taco is the little baby sister to the BE-100 and was created for the many musicians who asking for the Friedman sound in a small, compact, lightweight, simplified version of the BE-100.
    The Pink Taco V2 is Dave’s latest version of the 20-watt EL84 powered single channel fire breather. Capable of producing many styles of music from blues to classic rock and heavy rock to metal by just adjusting the gain, master controls and new added switches.
    A lot of people don’t believe an EL-84 amp can deliver the tight bottom end and midrange that an EL-34 amp can produce. We beg to differ! Dave completely designed the amp to sound like a 100 watt EL-34 monster utilizing custom transformers and designing the amp to have the clearest signal path possible.
    You will notice instantly, the tight bottom end and rich harmonically detailed chords and single notes. This amp cleans up remarkably well with the guitar’s volume control, even with the amp on higher gain settings.
    The Pink Taco V2 takes pedals very well and loves boosts, OD’s, phasers, flangers, tremolos, wahs, etc. The Pink Taco also has a brand-new custom designed ultra-transparent Series FX loop that takes time-based FX pedals and rack units equally well.

    It’s amazing how great these amps sound and yet it does not sound like the noise floor is out of control so again I understand 60s cycle hum, but usually with this kind of gain you would have a lot of hiss but these amps are fantastic man really and they have such a presence the sound is amazing 1:32

    I’ve been wondering how close the PT20 is to the JEL20 as far as level and type of gain.

    A very nice sound. I am interested if there is any hum present after switching on (like Marshalls) or it is quiet like some German amps. What about using at bedroom level without attenuator? Can I set the amp with noise gate to be completely quiet when stop playing?

    Absolutely love that guitar he's playing. After playing all the lunchbox amps, the Little Sister still has a nicer sounding classic hard rock sound. It's more defined, and punchy, than the PT....especially, if using an LP. And, all you have to do to get that fat, Bassman, JTM45 bluesy tone is adjust the Gain setting, with a strat. But, I digress....it's still a great amp, and the V2 is even better. Any time you have Dave at the helm, it's a great thing. He dials it in the way the amp was designed to sound, as opposed to some rivet-head completely diming the gain so he can "chug".

      @@NStuffMusic Outstanding! I don't think people truly understand how good that amp is. I know how it sounds best with my particular setup, but I'll look very forward to seeing how Dave tweaks it.

    Is that just the amp? It sounds like there is delay or reverb

    • @NStuffMusic
      @NStuffMusic  Před 5 měsíci

      There is some delay and reverb added via The OX

    • @monkeyrater

      @@NStuffMusic That honestly ruins the tone. Friedman gear always sounds best dry.

      @@monkeyrater I mean, Dave Friedman, the guy explaining the amp in the video, whose name is on the amp, dialed in the delay and reverb. I'm gonna go with his ear on this one!

      @@NStuffMusic OK, let me explain this in more detail. Dave is known for the plexi sound in his amps and pedals. Plexi is NOT high gain, its more of a 70s rock sound. If you want to know what plexi sound sounds like, I recommend you do a YT search for plexi pedals, you will find that these pedals have a unique sound. One thing that makes these plexi pedals different than other overdrive or distortion pedals is that they sound great dry. Most low gain distortion pedals sound like ass by themselves and need reverb and delay to sound good. Or they need the amp to turned up to the point of clipping to sound good. So I want to stress here that the Pink Taco is a plexi sounding amp, its not a high gain amp like the BE. So its a mistake for Dave to put reverb/delay on it. Even though Dave is a a brilliant tone shaper for his amps/pedals, he has bad taste in music, ie he thinks VH2 was the best tone of all the VH albums.

      @@monkeyrater Your comments are, frankly, retarded. lol. Reverb and delay are used by many, many people for all sorts of things. They are extremely common for clean tones and leads/solos, regardless of the amp.
