Really, is like Hadrien knew at all times what Federico was going to play. The harmonic as 2:05 blew me away. He really listens.
Melaman is a showman, not a show off. That's always been his style if every video and he's a monster musician. You can't win. If you play sub par, you're crucified. If you play above what people feel is right for them, you're crucified. What if this was Jaco with Hadrien, would you crucify him for too many notes or Pavarotti for singing too loud? No one's every happy just to listen to the MUSIC !!!

WTF kind of moron would EVER complain about Federico’s playing? What could one possibly find in it to criticise? Whoever those morons are, just,don’t know incredibly awesome music when they hear it.
Striking how much more musical Hadrien is getting with time. His choices are getting more refined and phrases more elegant. Brillliant.

too many armchair warriors posting...these guys are literally representing the outer limits of where our instrument has come and are just slaying...be happy and in awe that these guys took the time you didn't to become this badass and forge our instrument ahead into the future.
Unfortunately that's just what happens in the world of western music, and what has always happened. There are a select few people that dedicate their lives -- tens of thousands of hours to music because their very souls are intertwined with music, and they milk that love and often they become great musicians. Then you have the majority of musicians who use their musicianship primarily as means to an end: to distinguish themselves, to compete, to gain respect and followers. I'm not even saying there's anything wrong with this at all, because everyone has something unique to say and at the end of the day we're all lonely creatures. But it's just sad when people of this type completely fail to actualize their goals and then feel the need to project their insecurities on the people who have done everything right by just doing what they love.
Edith Gaard well said, I'm going to add that sometimes you get the musician(like myself) that dedicates his life to music but just don't get the proper opportunities to do anything with it, me for instance, I've lost every job I've ever had, if I'm not working, I'm playing, I play everyday at least 5 hours and when I'm not physically playing, I'm reading tabs, watching videos absorbing every last thing I learn, but considering I don't drive, so I can't gig out, I'm unemployed with kids so every dollar I do get supports them,so I can buy recording equipment, anything better than a cell phone you ever attempt to record bass on a phone? Not good

@@dsperanza79 this is literally some guitar doing jazz chords on a bass and some pretentious twat attempting to jam over it.... this is not listenable.... this is attempting to show off, when the players have 0 chemistry... the poor thing is they probably tried rehearsing this.

Good grief! Why are some of you so critical of this performance? It's not a competition. It's music. It's beautiful playing. It's too master players having fun and creating art. They dig each other's playing. Who cares how many strings a bass has or whether they have similar tones? Listen to the MUSIC. Enjoy it. That's what it's meant for. Enjoyment.
Despite some people think that Federico is trying to show off, in my opinion Hadrien is still on a higher level in terms of clean sound and technique. It will be very difficult to reach this guy. But Federico is a very good bassist indeed.
I think I'd enjoy owning Frederico's bass, what a sound!! Looks very playable and balanced also.

Beautiful interplay. it's so hard to make really rhythmic decisions with two bass instruments and keep it grooving and funky since they are in the same EQ space, but damn if this isn't the finest bass solo duet groove I have ever damn seen

What we need now is for Or and Gregor to join these two for a 4 man jam....imaginr how epic that could be, Or could the main rhythm, with his slapping, then Gregor can be the main bassline, then these two in this vid can form the melody...
that would be horrible... there's a reason why I mainly stay behind the camera ;)
It's hard enough making 2 basses at the same time sound good. Any bass extra would sound horrible

I'm an actually not big fan of SMV, they knew how to make 3 basses NOT sound bad, but I'm not really into the whole feel of it.

When I was younger this would be unheard of, two basses playing together no lead guitar, the bass is defiantly reaching maturity ,like I said when I was a kid bass was just a rhythm instrument, I remember a friend of mine from school who played guitar, used to make fun of me saying how easy it is to play one or two notes a whole song, god I love the bass guitar, some nice chops going on here also if I must say
