He doesn't even want to utter the words "work life balance". When confronted with this he has the same little speech which begins with "I'm very proud of the culture we have at Amazon" in more than one video I've seen.

I work at Amazon they treat you based on the volume they have for the day so at peak they do not bother you at all. Once that volume slows down they will scrutinize your every move and labor track you until you go crazy .

Example for picker they need have a task time 8.5 seconds per item , your break in theory is 15 minutes but they took out 2.5 depending in which side building you are and back forward also if you had to used the bathroom alot you can get written for that. In a few word people working at fulfillment they are mini robots.

Since their shipping locations are called the "fulfillment", maybe all Bezos is saying is, an employee gets "the fulfillment" they've so desired (They get the job they applied for). If an employee claims that working conditions are terrible, they get transported to "the future" (area of "the fulfillment" with conditions so bad that it'll rapidly age them in no time, instantly zap most of their life away, and cripple them right into restless, destitute retirement.
That is "super fun" for Bezos. (i.e., sociopathological satisfying), espec. where he often is, in a cartoonish bubble in the state of deep denial, in a wildly make-believe utopia!

You get the feel immediately as you start working in the first hour. The ambassador is asking you questions you already answered, and you answer while slowing down or stopping to communicate . What follows is th supervisor telling you how terrible your work was just now. And then repeat. That’s just the first day
You get a point next week either due to traffic or not knowing the off highway routes to work, and you learn that your performance is measured by machines and you don’t know how.
The next week is followed by getting frustrated and stressed out by everything. Never even knowing your colleagues because you don’t have enough time to communicate with them while you’re getting hounded for low performance.
Later on, you start getting pains in all kinds of joints and accept that this is your life now, read other Amazonians to make yourself a bit better or decide to work a little more till you’re hired for another job.

Clock in/out same time with a 3 min grace period or something like that. The work itself was pretty tough, they wanted u to hit numbers, I was able to hit the numbers almost every single day, but one day I missed the quota by a couple boxes and I was talked to about it in a respectable tone. I worked at Amazon in cali, its a people mill, they bring you in work you till your ragged and kick you out. Management doesn't care if you have any injuries and the people in the medical bay really don't care about you. Ive had a bad left knee since I was 18 and I have to wear a brace on it, I made quota all the time but when my knee started to flare up I had to slow down a little bit and as I explained that to them, showed them my knee, and my brace, my manager wrote me up. One guy I worked with in the lines uncle was shot and killed, he took a day to go to the funeral and they fired him. I would never recommend the job to anyone ever.

He's a creep. He is a typical CEO. Workers aren't people, and ALWAYS need to work harder, work more, skip breaks, and accept as low of pay as possibly can be given to them. It isn't that he is clueless, he just views workers to exist as profit makers, that's it. He's the type of CEO that would pay his workers .10 a day if he could get away with it, and force them onto legal contracts, binding them there, and lock them inside a warehouse or factory, forbidding bathroom or water breaks. Amazon is the modern Triangle Shirtwaist Factory.
