- This is a detailed interview with my friend and mentor, Ryan Forster of Death Worship/Blasphemy/Conqueror/Domini Inferi, etc. To say that Ryan is an accomplished musician is an understatement based on the bands that he's created, contributed to, and the sub-genre that those bands gave rise to. There is no doubt in my mind that NWN would not exist without his contributions to the subgenre of what I like to call Bestial Black Metal. For the past 23 years, he's been instrumental in guiding NWN and mentoring me in the dark arts of black metal and metal in general. We spend about an hour talking about the Death Worship LP, the upcoming US mini tour, the entire history of Conqueror, where Domini Inferi/Dominum Inferum fits into his musical arc, how he joined Blasphemy, and a lot more! No. Conqueror isn’t heavy at all. Black metal isn’t supposed to be heavy. Mortician is the heaviest band of all time
@truemenentoflife1721 Who says Black Metal isn't supposed to be heavy? How are you defining Heaviness? If you're measuring heaviness by how downtuned something is then quite frankly you're wrong as downtuning alone does not make a band heavy. By that same logic Slipknot, Korn, Lim Bizkit or any Nu Metal bullshit would be considered the heaviest bands as all of those bands are very downtuned to the point where they're using 7 to 9 String Guitars. Obviously there are other factors that determine whether a band is heavy such as Speed, Aggression, Chaotic riffing, How guttural the vocals are, How hateful or loud the vocals are, etc.. Mortician may be the Heaviest when it comes to just being so Downtuned and guttural along with the gory lyrics and fast and intense blast beats combined with the more mid tempo very slammy riffs but Conqueror is heavier in terms of them being Faster, More chaotic, Noisier, with psychotic sounding vocals on top of it all. Point being there are multiple ways to be heavy.
100% agree on whats heavy. Sometimes its detuned, sometimes its e standard. Thats not the important metric. Anne frank by brainbombs is heavy, deathcrush is heavy, and conqueror is absolutely fucking heavy@BrotherhoodofSteel-zh7ty
The 8 track self recorded Dominium Inferium realease really changed things for me. Absolutely incredible atmosphere captured! Rivals some OG releases. I haven't felt that way in a long time. Hails and endless respect to Yuske and Ryan Deathlord.

for some reason ive been listening to heaps of Destroyer 666, Bestial Warlust and GOH etc. recently, then back into Revenge and Conqueror then this channel popped up, sweet!! so intrigued by these bands, the riffs always make my brain work, 'how do they just do real simple riffs but make it sound insane?' in a good way.

These are easily 2 of my favorite figures in the real death/black/bestial/war metal underground. Ross Bay Cult and NWN Eternal! Both of which have always been supportive, amiable, influential, and done straight business with me. While I was still in the Army stationed in Germany, Ryan was very cool to turned onto a bunch of the most savage new war/bestial/black/death bands and made me a good deal.
