100% agree. (Not a palace or Blackburn fan either) I’ve been saying exactly the same thing. I’m praying he plays vs Slovenia but I don’t think Gareth will give him a chance unfortunately. We’re crying out for a player like him who’s confident receiving the ball with his back to goal and his first thought is turn and pick out a forward pass. It’s far too passive at the moment. Because the cb’s are so deep and aren’t willing to be higher up it’s just getting recycled between them and the fullbacks and eventually just ends up back to Pickford then being kicked long. With Wharton in there receiving it from the centre backs I think we solve that problem. Trent’s passing range is obviously fantastic but he isn’t a midfielder and didn’t look confident receiving it with his back to play and nor does Rice. Look at the best teams they all have that one player in midfield who is sort of the glue that everyone plays off of.

I think we've slightly lost sight of England's issue, England need improvement defensively. He looked great on the ball, but defensively we didn't get a sniff of his ability apart from the one time he got dribbled past. He has promising clips at Palace but not proven against big teams yet. Hope to see him shine in the Euros.
I think we will be playing three at the back for the whole tournament with wingers chasing back thats why he has so many wingers and cb’s. Wharton will most likely be back up to a holding midfielder or inverting the whole time, hes going because hes a ball player I think.
I can tell you now he’s defensively sound too.

When somebody typically compiles a video like the one above, focusing only on what one player did in a game, they usually select the best bits. I could well be wrong about what the individual did concerning Adam Wharton but in the above video, it seemed to me that much of the time he was not pressed all that much. Let's not forget that this was only a friendly. I am sure that in a competitive game, things might have been different.

You don't understand what I said because you made conclusions about the kid based on a CZcams reel of one match??? Make it make sense!! Kid got a very good tackle. Good carrier and is press resistant. This video didn't show all that. I followed him from the championship. Chelsea wanted to sign him last summer before Palace even came in the picture.

@@robertoberuffi1394 I am a palace fan and watch all the games. He is arguably even better under pressure, he can quickly move on the half turn and play it through into the attackers which can often lead to a chance of scoring
