Notice how expressive he is when he sings. He uses his body as a wonderful tool when singing.
A lot of people who don't care for Dimash say he is all high notes and no emotion.
Really makes me think they have not listened to much Dimash. 😁

"Confessa"... Italian, a man has learned that his woman does not love him any more. "Diva Dance" is the song that is sung by the Blue Alien in the movie "The Fifth Element". In the movie it was sung by a opera singer and then computerized and it was not supposed to be singable..and then came Dimash. This video is from the "Singer Show" in China. It is a competition for well known professional singers...by invitation only. The judges are the 500 people in the audience. Dimash was asked to compete as a wild card, because he had won so many international awards. He was at that time the first non Chinese, and the youngest competitor ever on that show. Dimash is 22 here. They didn't expect him to stay more then a few episodes. He came in second. (controversial) The people you see in the green room are the other competitors. Because of Dimash's great personality, he became very good friends with many of them, and performed with them in other venues. I am going to suggest .. "We Are One" Dimash's tribute to the valiant people who stepped up, and worked during the Pandemic.

This is one episode from a 13 episode programme called I am Singer.
It's a competition between well established artists and one gets voted off every week from the second week onwards. The judges are the 500 members of the audience and the viewing public at home.
Dimash was the youngest artist to ever appear on the show and woke up the morning after the show aired needing bodyguards after it was viewed by 600 million people.
Soon after that Dimash had a big enough fandom to have to give them a name, which he did via Instagram naming his Dears in the same Kazakh traditional way of repeating the name 5 times.
Although Dimash was already well known in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries, the 2017 I Am Singer competition for established Chinese singers catapulted him to megastardom. He was 22 years old and became a household name in China. He did not expect the overnight fame and rabid following of his new fans literally overnight after the first episode where he sang his now famous cover of SOS, one of the four most difficult French songs. The Singer competition required the singers to sing covers of world hits. Dimash now includes several of his Dear's favorites from that show in his sold out solo concerts. His versions of SOS have become his calling card which he sings at his own concerts and guest performances. Another close second is All By Myself.
FYI Dimash released many original singles in the 3 1/2 years he lived in China. His album "iD" went platinum in 37 seconds and triple platinum in 1 hour. Many of his most beautiful original songs are in Mandarin. Ocean Over the Time, A Thousand Miles A Common Dream, Only You, The Crown, War and Peace, The Meaning of Eternity, Eternal Memories, Only You and Restart My Love. He did some stunning duets such as You and Me with Wang Li, Heaven and Earth with Chang Shilei, A Thousand Miles A Common Dream with Zhang Yingxi and Swan Goose with Tengri. A delightful performance of Drunken Concubine plus Diva Dance was with Li Yugang. He also released his first original English pop song, Screaming in China.

Dimash performed a number of songs as part of his repertoire in the 2017 Chinese Singer competition- which went for 3-4 months. The show was for invited established artists and the audience was made up of, not random members of the public, but industry professionals. This was one of these performances. This clip does have subtitles. 'Confessa' is a song about lost love and the lyrics ask; 'Who are you? Why don't I recognise you any more? Why has your love gone?' etc., and Dimash fully inhabits the role portraying all of the anguish of lost love.
There are not many artists in the world who can fall to their knees during the performance and pound their fist on the stage and not look completely over the top! But when Dimash does it - the audience is so fully engaged that we all just say; "Aah YES! That's exactly right!" 🤣 The second piece is the famous Diva dance [ sung by 'The Blue Alien' in the movie; The Fifth Dimension'.] A Latvian female Opera Singer was contracted to sing the various components, for this piece, but it was constructed electronically because the view was that no human voice could produce this with the pace and precision- trained or otherwise. } Of course... Dimash can! 😆
This is from the 2017 Chinese show The Singer. It was a competition for already well known singers over many weeks. Dimash was the only foreign singer and a late wild card entry. He came second. At the time there was a rule that only Chinese competitors could win. This show is what catapulted him into recognition in China and other parts of the world. React to Adagio from it. Confessa is originally in Italian, but for this version, he had the first part changed into Chinese. Basically the song is about asking Why have you changed, just confess your indiscretions. I love Diva Dance. All versions he's done.
If you see the words Satine in the background, its in China (its a name of a milk product). Probably on I am Singer, mostly 2017. 2017 is when he was competeing, the later years he's a guest singer. Hello was done in 2018, Dimash with the Super Vocal Boys is 2019.
If you see a bald piano man, that's Igor Krutoy and they are probably in Russia.
The New Wave shows, he's there as a guest or judge, Slavic Bazaar he's there as guest and/or judge, unless you are watching clips from 2015, when he was competing in the Slavic Bazaar, he won.

Did you catch that Dimash began the song in Mandarin and then switched to the original Italian? Famous Italian singer Adriano Celentano had a big hit with it, you should check out the original.

Hello, I recommend the version of Diva Dance sung by Dimash at the Bastau concert, it's much better than this version.
He was only 22yrs old in this vid, part of The Singer comp. in China 2017, he's come a long way since then and is even more awesome, maybe check out the 2018 duet Drunken Concubine/Diva with Damish and Li Yugang, best duet in history ( imo)
