I love revenge stories like this because of these scenes, the character grows as their journey continues and they're forced to walk/create their own path
Ya know thinking back to Isaac's arc in season 3 I think the reason he decided to spare Hector was because he thought of all the times he came up against people who didn't give him a chance, and the few ones who showed him kindness, mercy, and understanding, and he chose the world he'd rather live in. One where a man who hangs his head in atonement is given a second chance rather than a slit throat.

They were both well-studied in everything magic, as that is what Forgemasters practice. A fair amount of what Hector did in Styria were things he learned there, but also a lot he had forgotten through lack of use but then remembered. I like in the scene right after when Hector agrees to let Isaac kill him, Isaac sees the magic mirror and he is reminded of the gift of kindness when he received one.
She probably had spare rings she would have used on his remaining fingers. To add with it, someone in the comments said that only a forgemaster's tool can cut through magic (as seen in the video when Isaac uses his knife to deflect the magic bars) so it is possible the ring would have prevented him from cutting his finger with an ordinary knife.
@@ShiningGurren Yeah...He knife seems to be magical to a degree that is more than just his tool of choice for raising the dead. Much like when he broke the green band around his head earlier, it must be a "magic can defeat magic" type of deal, when it comes to equipment and weapons.
That's what you call a "4 dimensional written Character". Most characters in stories are 1 or 2 dimensional written Characters (superficial with no real deepth). There are also enough 3 dimensional written Characters (fleshed out characters, but it depends on how the writers use them), but 4 dimensional written Characters are very rare (basically fleshed out characters that change their world views & Ultimately their goals they want to achieve).
The worst part is that Hector didnt do anything wrong. He was gaslighted into thinking he did something wrong. He was manipulated gaslighted and brainwashed and enslaved and everytime he figured out he was in too deep it was too late. He figured out he was manipulated by Carmilla in the hallway but it was too late he was double crossed by her again when he was put in chains and he was enslaved by Lenore and by the time he figured it out it was too late. Hector never did anything wrong. He only wanted to do Dracula proud because to him, Dracula did nothing but respect him. And it was only until Isaac's growth did Isaac too started treating Hector like an adult instead of a child
And probably that´s the reason Isaac forgave Hector: he realized Hector was also a victim of Carmilla schemes and deceptions and even used as a slave, just as himself.
Hector and Isaac's relationship development is one of the most satisfying parts of this incredible series. Dracula would be very pleased by the sight of this wholesome reunion.

I can't stop talking about how Isaac has probably the best character developments of all time. That insight, that maturity, the understanding that revenge is not the answer--you don't see that kind of deep reflection in characters often, to settle amends respectfully & in peace. Hector too, in a way he and Isaac are like two sides of the human coin, going their separate paths to meet at the same point, one of self forgiveness and hope for something better. There is something so satisfying about watching the vampires be powerless against the humans, I don't know how this show does it. Seeing Lenore helplessly watch as all of her leverage over Hector is cut away as well as realizing she indirectly sealed Carmilla's fate is some top notch writing. Not to mention Isaac going through the cage instead of around it, then doing it again just to symbolically say "Please, try something bitch, I'm begging you to give me a reason."
This final season has been legit perfect! People ask "Who's your favorite character?" Most shows you have a fav. But this show? I cared about them all. Isaac has had soo much growth. His arc was amazing. Hector as well. The big 3. They've grown soo much. I love their dynamic. Alucards face lighting up when Sypha and Trevor spawn in the castle. Trevor fighting Death. If he stayed dead I wouldt have been mad. But choosing to bring him back. Giving everyone a happy ending. It felt soo natural. I'm sad this amazing show is over but soo glad it got a proper ending.
I don't think I said either of them were good people? Also did you finish the show? By the end they weren't trying to bring Dracula back man. Isaac had his own goals. Hector wanted to in the beginning to right his wrongs for betraying Dracula. So yeah they all had good arcs. Which is what I said.
This is some of the best sound design any animated show I watched has to offer. The situation fells so tense you fell you can cut the air with a knife (no pun intended). What an amazing choice to have no music for this part and just keep the whirring of the cage.
My one complaint I have about the finale is we don’t get to see much of Issac after his big victory, I suppose his story did kind of come to an end there but a little more would have been nice.
At that point they were set to hang around Castle Styria to pause and reflect. And in time decide what to do next. But I think they would do it together.
Damn the writing in this show is top notch! Hector & Isaac are so well written ❤️👍🏾. As someone who grew up playing the games I did not see this coming
Hector was way more capable and resourceful than I originally thought. He was able to hide so much, and build ways of escaping/fighting back while being a captive.
Props to Isaac for giving his knife to Hector. You could tell he hesitated and was a bit reluctant but he was willing to give him a fair chance. The man truly matured before our eyes.
In this setting, Isaac IS John Wick. "He is a man of focus... commitment... of sheer fuckin' will." "He once killed a vampire war lord, with an S&M sex toy!"
I always wondered why nobody cared how they made Isaac a black man in the show instead of the redhead he's in the game Then I realized, because Isaac in the show is a fucking great character and his race doesn't matter
You get it man, you absolutely get it. They made Isaac an expy of Father Enrico Pucci from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6. The only real difference is Isaac’s Devil Forging in contrast to Pucci’s Stand abilities. But even then, the base most applications of those abilities are similar, creating powerful soldiers in order to accomplish their goal, creating the world their best friend and master envisioned or as close to it as they can manage.
oh I cared but it's netflix. They'll race change, insert the gay, and liberalize everything. But that's the price you pay for Netflix.... that and the monthly subscription.
I care more that they cut Isaac's sister Julia. She was actually Hector's love interest in the games. Could have been a great way for Hector to grow and develop by meeting her.
These two are my favorite part of this series. It would have been so easy to go the simple revenge plot route from the game (and I know a lot of fans don’t like that they went a different route), but what we got is so much more interesting and mature. In a way, Isaac and Hector’s stories are both about emancipation: Isaac becoming free from his devotion to Dracula and hatred of humanity to become the wise builder he was born to be, and Hector learning to think and act for himself rather than remain a comfortable pet. They both “went sane” in the end, and it was mesmerizing to watch.
Well, the ancient scrolls do state "bros before your hoes," and Camilla stands between Hector and Isaac after achieving peak hoedom, *There is only one logical conclusion.*
Wouldn't it have been awesome if Isaac AND Hector went to kick Carmilla's ass? Dracula's legacy vs the woman partly responsible for his death? Hector feels left out as a character, and didn't get a proper redemption arc I think..
In a way I think it does fit this variation of Hector's character. He never really wanted to fight, just forge and not be alone by himself with his craft. I think Hector did the best he could with providing as much aid to Issac as he could by giving that channel path and bleeding for Issac by quite literally cutting his own finger off.

I love how Isaac came to the conclusion here that revenge isn’t the way, but I never felt the show as a whole flat out says to the viewer “Mer mer revenge is bad.” More like...revenge isn’t a blanket fix. It has consequences. There is a time and a place for it, just as there’s a time and place for forgiveness. Feels much more realistic for it to be a specific characters viewpoint based on their journey than a blanket preachy message. Even the Captain in S3 says “Revenge is good. Bastards need punishing.” Haha But in Issac’s case, after the journey he’s been on, not seeking vengeance is a personal decision that fulfills his arc. He doesn’t need revenge for Dracula’s death because his purpose and his life is more than just being Dracula’s friend now. But killing Carmilla for what she did and for what she plans to do? 100% necessary, no questioning wether it’s wrong, no hesitation. Gosh. Imagine if Issac had got all the way up there and just decided not to kill her cause of some awkward moral crisis lmao. Nah. He’s an excellently written character, and this ending feels good to watch, something he deserves.
Isaac during his travels saw what Hector saw: That not all of humanity is bad. Once he saw that, taking his revenge out on Hector would indeed be childish.
I loved how poetic and thoughtful this conversation was. Not to mention all the attention to detail as well. Like that Hector when handing over the talisman didn't say the command until after he let go of it. I'm so glad Hector found his peace and was able to be a better man by the end.
You've really got to notice how Hector could have easily just killed Lenore or let Isaac kill her and kept his finger, but cut off his finger because he didn't want Lenore to die.
The subtle expressions all characters makes gestures an movements pure detail I have ever seen missing even in live action movies like Lenor in the background this is a masterpiece
Lenore lol her lil break down after Issac speaks of growing up and going your own way ,"revenge is for CHILDREN"...she's been kept as the perpetual baby of the family while speaking of vampire nature of not liking change. Her sisters and she herself, were both involved in her infantilization. Humans were capable of change exactly cause of their short life, by her logic. So it must have hurt withnessing Hector's growth

Hector kills Isaac in the source material. Oof.
And Greta is a dude in the source material. The source material doesn't matter here.
I like how Hector was like "I can't do anything" and then realised that he would get both his freedom and help Isaac if only he cut off his finger
He needed that dagger to do it as it cuts through magic.
He was sure that Isaac would kill him, so he never thought about cutting his finger off. But now that he knew that Isaac wasn’t going to kill him he had a moment to actually think about it.
@@AesirUnlimited problem is even if he did cut his finger it wodnt help the magic will be still there.. the reason he chose to do it with Issac knife is because it can literally cut magic like it's paper in a paper shredder.. this would release him from the binding curse..
Commitment and Resolve. Mostly Resolve. Those are the two things that hector developed during his time in the castle.
@@sanjivinsmoke2719 I am sure that Hector wasn't absolutely sure it would work. But as Isaac had given him a boon by not killing him and Lenore, he was willing to do anything to try to help Isaac.
I think the character that has developed the most during the show really has been Isaac, his line of "I want to live" when he was willing to give his life in the first seasons to destroy all of mankind. This is a powerful scene
IKR! The main trio was kinda boring character development wise.
Him being black isn't even a focus of the character
@Gentleman Murk if anything, making Isaac a former african slave with legitimate grievances and growth instead of the one-dimensional original character is an improvement.
@Gentleman Murk Isaac's design from Curse of Darkness was absolute garbage, being "blackwashed" was the best thing that happened to him besides his wonderful character arc
I didn't care for Isaac or Hector in the first two seasons, and was kinda eh on the both of them still in Season 3, but they were both amazing characters this season.
I love Isaac’s character development
Best in the show
Yeah I find myself rooting for him a lot. That's how you make a likeable anti hero. Warren Ellis has always been my favourite writer since Hellblazer.
Isaac is amazing. I’m happy other people noticed his character development too.
WAY better than his game counterpart.
Isaac : I'm not here for revenge....bro.
Hector : Bro......
Lenore : 🖐O_O 🖐
Man you didn't put the best part of this scene in the clip. The sarcastic ''my lady'' towards lenore by isaac is the best part and then she proceeds to say ''fuck you'' lmao.
I really wanted to put in there but youtube is really annoying with copyright issues the longer the video length!
And a silent understanding
She knew the best thing was to kill Carmilla, but she didn't have to like it or the person who was going to do it. She knew what a mad attempt at taking over the world would bring. Didn't stop her from loving her sister.
This show has such good duos. Hector and Isaac (bros to enemies to bros again), Trevor and Alucard (frenemies/rivals), Trevor and Sypha (the ultimate power couple).
He did kill Godbrand.
@@diegodeluquev1433 yes he did, how does that relate? Am I missing something?
@@Ismael-kc3ry Godbrand was still one of Dracula's generals. One of the strongest vampires out there, and Isaac was able to kill him with no effort, even if it was a sneak attack, you know vampires are strong, let alone a general. @@diegodeluquev1433 Hector had been beaten, starved, and forced to walk barefoot for hundreds of miles. The small surprise he pulled on Lenore was negated not just by all of that but the fact that he was unarmed, naked, and her abilities allowed her to easily get out of the headlock he had her in. Meanwhile Isaac was armed, in perfect shape, and also had the element of surprise.
Either way that’s clearly not what my original comment was related to, I was talking about duos who worked together, not who would win in a fight. You’re talking about the exact opposite of what I was.
@@Ismael-kc3ry OH, SHIT, MY BAD. I WANTED TO RESPOND TO A COMMENT ABOUT HOW HECTOR DIDN'T QUESTION ISAAC'S ABILITY TO KILL CARMILLA

@@4spurta Um just because he was no longer in a cell eating rotten food doesn't make his situation any less a pet in a gilded cage. I love revenge stories like this because of these scenes, the character grows as their journey continues and they're forced to walk/create their own path
The captain is the real mvp
Right? Very cool and brief character. He saved humanity with nothing but quick social thinking, mind for business, and listening.
Man saved humanity and made Isaac a better man simply by extending basic kindness
He has a cool accent which makes it all the better
Ya know thinking back to Isaac's arc in season 3 I think the reason he decided to spare Hector was because he thought of all the times he came up against people who didn't give him a chance, and the few ones who showed him kindness, mercy, and understanding, and he chose the world he'd rather live in. One where a man who hangs his head in atonement is given a second chance rather than a slit throat.
Very well put, I think you’re right. We all get screwed over by others when we’re at our lowest. But that doesn’t mean we have to be like them. We all can chose to be better, and we all can be the difference in the world.
Because this time he's following his feelings. Earlier he felt that Hector needed to die because he assumed that revenge was good for Dracula's sake. Now he realizes he doesn't need to mind Dracula, because he's a dead man.

They were both well-studied in everything magic, as that is what Forgemasters practice. A fair amount of what Hector did in Styria were things he learned there, but also a lot he had forgotten through lack of use but then remembered.
One thing I feel relief over is that Isaac never faced off against Sypha, as he was the one person who would know everything she would do and get through that to kill her.
also the fact that Issac just gives Hector his knife, the tool he uses for forging with no questions asked

Bro good catch, I didn't even notice that
"Cut your finger off" was literally my first thought when Lenore put that slave ring on Hector.
He was smart enough to wait, so he do it at the perfect moment.

@@ShiningGurren Yeah...He knife seems to be magical to a degree that is more than just his tool of choice for raising the dead. Much like when he broke the green band around his head earlier, it must be a "magic can defeat magic" type of deal, when it comes to equipment and weapons.
Isaac has one of the best character development... since Zuko...
Yep.. witnessing his growth throw 4 season was just so satisfying.. great character
❤️admit it
Isaac is my favorite character. And that’s saying something because I really like all the characters
Now that is high praise there.
The reconciliation between these two is probably the best part of the final season, better than any other character's arc to me.

One of the rarest time where someone does not kill one of his revenge target yet feels as satisfying as if he did
I can't stop talking about how Isaac has probably the best character developments of all time. They started out as two antagonists that I didn't give much of a thought for, but ended up as two of my absolute favorites.

My one complaint I have about the finale is we don’t get to see much of Issac after his big victory, I suppose his story did kind of come to an end there but a little more would have been nice.
At that point they were set to hang around Castle Styria to pause and reflect. And in time decide what to do next. But I think they would do it together.

Revenge is for children is such a powerful line. I honestly try to think about that once a day. Learning to let things go is such a powerful skill

Issac is one of my favorite characters in this series. His development really went well and he’s a beast in fighting

Some of the best character development I've ever seen.
"Can I borrow your knife?"
Gigachad rhetoric.
Issac was the MVP of Season 3. He was really the LeBron James on already an all star team, so I wasn’t upset when we didn’t see much of him in S4. He fulfilled his character arc that was built from S 1&2, expanded in 3, and concluded in 4. As all the characters go, probably outside of Trevor, he had the best story arc and character development
@@breadandcircuses8127 In the first season, he's a misguided, brash, abrasive, antagonistic, cutthroat cynical drunk who doesn't enjoy the company of others. He grew up with next to no childhood and ostracized by everyone because of the family he comes from. He, with the help of a speaker magician, allies himself with a half-vamplire - the son of Dracula at that. Their relationship is founded upon blood because Belmonths are notorious for hunting and killing Vampires.
Despite all of this, largely due to Syphia's influence, he becomes more sympathetic and caring towards others outside of himself. His hedonistic lifestyle in regards to women as well, noted how he's slept around, is abolished due to him living a family life with Sypha after season 4. How is this arc anything but good?
Afterward, Hecter gets initiated to the assassin order
When you realize the dude wasnt just following orders.
"Can I borrow your knife"
As in "yeh, I could have done this before but I first needed to set traps without them noticing my missing finger"
If Issac isn't the best character in this show hands down...
Bastards need punishing.” Haha
But in Issac’s case, after the journey he’s been on, not seeking vengeance is a personal decision that fulfills his arc.

Isaac’s conversations with everyone are all so deep. God I wish he could have had a talk with Simon, Shypha, or Alucard in particular.

So that's the ultimate lesson learnt by him
I loved how poetic and thoughtful this conversation was. Not to mention all the attention to detail as well. Like that Hector when handing over the talisman didn't say the command until after he let go of it. I'm so glad Hector found his peace and was able to be a better man by the end.
I'm glad they got along at the end.
You've really got to notice how Hector could have easily just killed Lenore or let Isaac kill her and kept his finger, but cut off his finger because he didn't want Lenore to die.

Gotta love the whole king Solomon bives on Isaac
Lenore lol her lil break down after Issac speaks of growing up and going your own way ,"revenge is for CHILDREN"...she's been kept as the perpetual baby of the family while speaking of vampire nature of not liking change.
