I can stand when people don’t know basic stuff but when someone fails at such a basic task I start pausing the video, sitting there talking out my frustration for minutes on end and am never able to finish the stream lol

@@NotSomeJustinWithoutAMoustache Kinda. Covering a lot of land may mean that the terrain is diverse enough that it's not super straightforward to discern where exactly something is. If I were to use the United States as an example, there are large patches of land where there is nothing distinguishable besides flat land and highway (looking at you, Wyoming). So using that, I could see why Kobo wouldn't immediately know where everything is in the less traveled parts of Indonesia.
@@edmg7 That was the intent but I see how it could be misleading. I'll clarify that she got there in a frantic scroll and zoom out of the map in the original comment.

no it was a misunderstanding. she thought "SEA" means SouthEast Asian, not like ocean. thats why she was pretty confused why the hell they said australia is in SEA

As Indonesian, if i look at world map and search for Indonesia i would look for Australia first. It wont be that far, and Australia is more recognizable for its shape

I've friend from sulawesi / celebes. He not even know the compass, and the location of his hometown. When i asked where is it, he just say about .. km from a famous city. "Which direction? North, south, east or west from that city?" And he just answer, "Dont know the direction, only one road to go there, so just follow the road".
And after that i realize that not everyone know the geography, even the basic. Especially when they not even needed bother with it.

So is this why Americans and generally many westerners found it hard to identify Indonesia? Their eyes can't just focus like Kobo's? Like, I always find it hard to believe a large archipelago country sitting right in between two oceans and two continents was very hard to see. Guys, it's right above Australia, below Philippines, just after Malay Peninsula. Although the flat map didn't do its size a justice, it's STILL pretty big!
