      IMHO 🤷🏽‍♂️...
Bob was a 'machine gun' gag man.
      Whereas Joan was funny personified.

Those two are a class act, both sharp as tacks & quick with the wit. Such clever people.

He was quick but she was even quicker. There aren't two like that today. RIP both.

Joan was warmly welcomed here in Britain, and thankfully so, as one year after this appearance, her world would start to crumble in 1986, when she signed to Fox for her own talk show and never informed Johnny Carson, her mentor and the man who found her and gave her exposure on his Tonight Show since the mid 1960s. That falling out led to Johnny never speaking to her for the rest of his life, her Fox show was axed within a year and her husband committed suicide. Britain welcomed her back, and she maintained a loyal fan base in the UK, whereas many in the US abandoned her.

People did NOT abandon Joan Rivers in the States and she did try to tell Johnny Carson that she was leaving to do her own show, but he was selfish and petty and did a horrible thing by not ever talking to her again. It broke her heart! Joan became a much bigger star than she had EVER been after all that she went through and remained the busiest and most popular and relevant comedienne until her untimely and suspicious death in 2014. She was more popular in the States and in Britain that ever, selling out shows everywhere, having 3 major shows on different TV networks, many best-selling books and an unforgettable movie Documentary made about her. She died on TOP! She will be missed forever ❤❤❤❤

I think Bob Monkhouse met his match. She was a step ahead of him. He was not expecting such self deprecation on Joans side.
