Can't they just take him to court, if they know his name at least? I'm sure one of them knows his name and address so they can get court orders that gets him to pay. He was probably a smooth talker and bought them a few drinks and made them feel great. It doesn't take a very smart man to really get into someone if they find something attractive about him. And especially if the women had a recent breakup or hadn't had sex in a while and they just really wanted someone, it just depends on how much they wanted it. Lots of reasons as to why things like this happen.

You're correct they may not have known. Still the fact remains that a man can have 7 kids and none is the wiser because the children are never with him. So ostensibly they can move on and create a new family every time. Modern men do that very thing then cry wolf if child support hits like they didn't dip their pen in that ink. Women on the other hand carry that baggage and it disables their abilities to move on because they are judged for it. Thus giving them the short end of the stick.
