    As long as Hotels don't put two single mattresses together and call it a double and are clean, I'm usually happy enough with them.

    • @tobijones1193

      That's so annoying when they do that

    • @xiaojiangwang9122
      @xiaojiangwang9122 Před 3 lety

      That is very common for most 3 or 4 star hotels, putting 2 single mattress together as king.

    This is a very thorough hotel review and you have shown an option that is affordable to most. I have never considered staying that close to the airport because I assumed that the vicinity would make it horrendously expensive. This room has a striking resemblance to a cruise ship cabin and is actually the size of a standard cabin on most ships. The nightly cost is also comparable to the cost of a cruise. Will we see cruise reviews in the future? Well done Rory.

    • @RoryDing
      @RoryDing  Před 3 lety +7

      Maybe spirit of Tasmania cuz so many people have been requesting it
      But I’m personally not a fan, cruise is slow and costs thousands. I’d rather spend the money, fly and explore more counties.
      In 2018-2019 I spent 95 days visiting about 25 countries in Asia Europe North Africa and the Middle East, i know cruise ships are more relaxing but I prefer fast-paced travel so I can see more 😂😂😂

    Mate, I’m incredibly jealous of all the travel you’re getting to do! I’m holidaying through you hehe. Bit shifty on how little they give you with teabags etc - cheaper hotels give you far more! Great video as usual 👍🏻

    • @yukiefromoz2573
      @yukiefromoz2573 Před 3 lety +1

      Probably because ppl just take everything with them, I'm sure they'll give you more if you request it.

    • @HGCUPCAKES
      @HGCUPCAKES Před 3 lety +1

      They are probably giving less tea and coffee due to COVID-19 as after each use the room would have to be deep cleaned which may mean disposing of left over tea and coffee.

    That was interesting. I've always expected the airport hotels to cost and arm and a leg (like the CBD hotels), at least an arm :) You got cold at 25?? :) No wonder you were wearing a puffy jacket in Sydney, whilst it's still quite warm (to me), I always find hotels rooms are too hot and stuffy and turn the a/c down to almost the lowest setting. Keep up the hotels reviews, they're quite interesting, even though I'll never stay in them haha.

    • @RoryDing
      @RoryDing  Před 3 lety +2

      Well puffy jacket was because I came from Canberra which was freezing and I was off to Melbourne and Adelaide which ain’t as warm as Sydney is. I like to pack light so I don’t bring multiple jackets 😂
      It depends I never needed extra blanket in a hotel. The room temp was 18, I woke up at 3 to change it to 25, the room temp was 22.5 when I got up 2hrs later at 5. So That aircon was very good at cooling but heating wasn’t real good

    • @arokh72
      @arokh72 Před 3 lety

      @@RoryDing hmm 18 in the hotel room is still a little warm for my liking haha. I'm weird though, I prefer the cold even wearing just a light jacket and t-shirt in mid winter Canberra, at night. Heck it's all I wear when it snows at my place...well pants too of course :P

    Very nice review. Only thing that I could add is you might want to deal with the flicker. What I suspect is that it's due to a camera setting - many will have a flicker filter of sorts to cope with filming in artificial lighting. I suspect it was set to cope with 60hz, whereas our power supply is 50hz, so you get the flicker.

    A review that's both interesting and detailed Rory. I did like the room 'sound test' as a hotel might spend lots and lots of money on the public areas (what you see when entering the property) but neglect the rooms themselves when it comes to soundproofing. Here in the UK you would find there are very many Travelodges. But Travelodge UK has different ownership to Travelodge Australia. It has also suffered a downtown in guest numbers during the pandemic. Airport rates *may* be very low. For example, a room at the main Travelodge at Heathrow costs upwards of GBP30 for a booking in a couple of days time.

    Wow! Great room so convenient. You think like me about hotel rooms, you need to bring a pair of pliers, or vice grips, your own non- approved shower head that doesn't have a water restrictor. I never leave home without it. Just pack it in your check-in luggage. TSA may confiscate it at airport security if you have it with carry-on. Oh, remember to remove it when you check out, none the wiser. 😁👍

    I spent a couple of nights there a few weeks back - as you said, it was clean & comfy, and I also found the shrink-wrapped remote a nice touch. The parking fee (at the Wilson parking next door) was very reasonable, which was why I booked it (had a rental). A tip for next time, try to get a front-facing room so you can see some airport action, my room was on level 6, which had a good view of the airport.

    Thoroughly enjoy your hotel room reviews and good value for money but like that one in Melbourne you reviewed there's no way that hotel is four-star standard - 3 or 3 1/2 star maybe. The minibar should have had drinks in it and the hotel should have a pool and/or fitness center to meet basic four-star criteria.

    • @RoryDing

      The Melbourne one it advertises as a 4 star on the website.
      I agree it’s more like a 3 1/2 but I really like its price. For $85 per night in Melbourne, you could only get a private room at YHA or other hostels so I’m happy with what I get.

    We are sick & tired as "Covid" being constantly wheeled out as an excuse to lower services, hospitality either needs to accept that they just have to get back on with the job of looking after their guests or accept that someone else will.
