I love Rumiko Takahashi's anime and manga. Ranma1/2, Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura and Inyuyasha are really awesome classic anime. Back then the number one priority was being entertaining and it shows.
I got into anime in the mid-90s because of Sailor Moon. I enjoyed that and spoke to a cousin who told me about anime and manga. I went to a local comic shop and checked out their (miniscule) selection of manga, ending up buying four issues of Ranma and two graphic novels of 3 X 3 Eyes (which is still my favorite manga of all time). Bought several VHS tapes of Ranma over the next several years. Still love it to this day. Eager for the remake. And yes, the original is on Hulu (though I believe it's JUST the TV series, NOT the movies or OVAs).
For that remake : 🙏🏻🙏🏻I wish Akane'll be less violent toward Ranma and understanding him/her better, the story of the Kuno family : where is the principal's wife, who's also the Tatewaki and Kodachi's mother, and why the father becomes crazy after that.🤗🤗
For me it was a pretty similar deal. I remember looking up some random battle from the OG Pokemon series for nostalgia, and for some reason the guy included some promo for Ranma 1/2 in the clip. I fell in love with the artstyle instantly and binged the whole thing on youtube. This was like 2019 or something. After that I discovered that the series was pretty much still being kept alive by the fanbase and a insane amount of fanfiction being written to this day (which the world lends itself perfectly to, since it is pretty much a sitcom with a status quo). I gotta say, I don't get excited for much these days, ESPECIALLY -shitty- remakes. But the remake trailer for Ranma... Literally felt the instant hype in my stomach. I just hope they get the English cast back... And keep out the BS, like you said.
I hope they reuse as much of the original voice casts as possible for both the sub and English dub. If they manage to complete the Musky Dynasty arc I'll be so happy.
Having watched the leaked episodes I can say MAPPA (Animation Studio) do their best specially for the ecchi scenes but looks like Netflix put the the stupid rule of NO NIPPLES and we have the characters having the classical Barbie Body. If this continue Western is going to destroy anime from the inside by economic war..
Ranma 1/2 is one of my top Anime as well. I think what they will do is cut out the filler and only adapt stories from the Manga. That should cut down on some of the amount episodes.
Why do you keep saying "Destroyed"? The original is still going to be there, unchanged. If anything: even if it's bad, you can say there's a better original and get people to watch that.

I've watched this series like 3 or 4 times over. Though I haven't seen the OVAs yet. Hope to soon though and will definitely see this remake.
