If other properties are going for a couple hundred million it's comparible. And there's 3000 odd billionaires so for them yes it's probably worth it.
Hard to say, demand is crazy in New York and it’s a limited resource. If nothing crazy happens the demand will keep rising in the future and prices will continue to grow. You probably won’t lose money on it if you can afford it and are looking for ways to invest that much for a longer period of time. I would probably still calculate if the apartment is actually worth that in the current market and not just take a real estate salesman‘s word on it. Not like I could ever hope to be able to afford it anyway. 😂
with that money I rather buy something in miami then the smokey crowded nyc, but it's not my choice so idk.

The crazy thing is most of these places sit vacant after they’re bought. A lot of foreigners buy them as investments and to keep their money safe from foreign governments.

I did job last week. Townhouse over by the brownstones in Brooklyn. Young couple just paid 10 million. Looked similar but 3 floors. So beautiful

Forgot about the price of real estate in NYC. You're getting bent over for the property taxes to be paid to a city which is rife with corruption and mismanagement.
NYC property tax is low compared to the rest of NY State, including Long Island and especially compared to neighboring New Jersey.

New York City's tax base is hollowing out: Apollo Commercial Real Estate (ARI) announced a $1 per share write-down on its Steinway Tower loan. The average whole floor apartment at Steinway Tower has an excellent view of Central Park and runs about $20 million. The Penthouse goes for more than twice that. If this kind of property in NYC is taking significant write-downs it implies a meaningful hollowing out of New York City's tax base.
