''The Professor'' or ''Your favorite drummer's favorite drummer''". They will still be talking about him 100 years from now.
🔥🔥‼️‼️
god
The professor is the best drummer of his generation.RIP Neil Peart.
💙💙💙
He takes you all around the world in 10 minutes with all the different drumming styles. Not only was he a technical master, but he was always the student - learning, studying, and never afraid to reinvent himself.
🔥🔥🔥
I remember an interview where Neil talked about exactly what you said. One of his influences was Jazz, and the technique that drummers who play Jazz utilize. It's amazing how Neil could flip from one style to another in the middle of a song or drum solo. His talent still blows my mind.
In many circles this guy's The goat
🐐🐐🐐
Neil Peart AKA The Professor AKA The GOAT RIP!!!!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Alex liked to plug his guitar into the (old school) Marshall amp tower stacks, while Geddy was plugging his bass into the arena's sound system. There ended up being a lot more room on Geddy's side of the stage, so he decided to fill his side of the stage with dryers, rotisserie chicken ovens, popcorn machines, vending machines, meat grinders, depending on the tour.
I remember the first time I heard this, over 20y ago…wow. Mind blown.
Glad to see younger generations are also getting joy from it too
🙌🙌‼️
And that is the way neil Did
His thing spot on perfect. Just like every song.
Betttt
Truly the best drum rest in peace 🙏
There may be some parts in this that feel like they're out of time... that's because they're far beyond what most of us are used to listening to. Neil is keeping one time signature with his feet while doing something completely different with his hands. Especially during the part after he turns around mid way through when he starts hitting the foot pedal tambourine at 3:53. And I believe he was 60 years old during this solo. An incredible musical genius. I didn't know him personally, of course, but I also hear that he was an amazing human too and for me, that is extra special! RIP NEIL 💜💜
Wow that takes so much talent to do, he’s doing amazing 🙏🏽🙏🏽‼️‼️
@@StaxReactsit blows my mind that he's written and said "I didn't have talent, but I was relentless." And he didn't read music! I don't even understand the time signatures in Rush songs, and I've read music for 35 years.
On the "roll the bones" tour, he dressed up in a glow-in-the-dark skeleton costume. They turned out all the lights and raised him and his full 360 drum kit into the air...cartoon version on the big screen behind him! Absolutely bonkers! Neil and Buddy Rich are the greatest ever!
a Master at his craft
🙌🙌‼️‼️
The Professor is THE GOAT. Danny, Dave, all the boys, you ask them who their influences were, and they always say Neil Peart.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
After seeing rush in concert a friend of mine's little sister, who was 8 or 9 at the time said that drummer dude is like a maestro.I thought that was appropriate.
🙌🙌‼️‼️
The talent is Amazing 🔥🔥🔥 Great reaction Stax 🔥
Yesss it sure is, thank you Linda
Neil was sick wth the flu when he did this, unbelievable dedication to us fans. 😁
Wow I couldn’t even tell
the professor Canadian legend
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥🔥
The RUSH stage show has always been like a traveling rummage sale. Washers, Dryers, dinosaurs, Barbie doll groupies side stage, street signs and signals and for a minute they had steampunk rocking on a few tours. Seen them at least 30 times, my favorite band next to Pink Floyd.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
He also wrote the songs for Rush... the man was amazing.
Oh wowwww
Got my Stax fix for the next five minutes! 😁.. thank you for being here and enjoying the music of my life.. you are awesome.. luv you.. xo
Enjoy! Love ya too sue 💙
Wow that was totally groovy 😎😎😎😎 thank you so much for posting❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
@@StaxReacts my mother was a drum majorette in high school 🏫 if you like this you might like Roy Clark's Malaguena I can send you a link where he's doing Malaguena with The odd couple. And also you might like yanni the storm he'll probably flip you right out of your chair 🪑 I can send you both the links okay
Stax. I can't wait for you to do yanni the storm and Roy Clark Malaguena I can't wait to see the reaction on your face I just can't wait❤❤❤❤❤❤
I did this song too! Wish I could have included you. 😅😅
😅😅it’s okay mama I’ll still be there to support
The first record I ever bought was RUSH' Signals. That album hooked me for life on their music. Great seeing today's younger generation exploring the music I grew up with. Love your channel. Subscribed 🤜🤛
Rock on!
Behind Alex Lifeson (lead guitar), there were always stacks of amps. Behind Geddy Lee (bass/keyboards/singer), there was... nothing. To balance it out, the band started putting things behind Geddy, like a row of vending machines, rotisserie chickens, and eventually clothes dryers.
You had mentioned his hand and eye coordination, but what's truly incredible is that he's playing different beats and rhythms with both of his hands and feet. He's also Danny Carey's biggest influence.
🔥🔥‼️‼️
CRASH! No-one likes a show off, haha. Yeah this guy is/was the best. R.I.P the drumming God. Nice one Stax❤keep em coming Boss, Rush are a trip a life long journey ❤🇬🇧CRASH!
🙏🏽🙏🏽💙
When Lars was interviewed by Howard Stern, he even said Neil was the best he'd ever heard.
🙌🙌🙌
Alex [guitar player has his stack of amps behind him], Geddy [lead singer, bass player, keyboardist] routes his sounds through the venues sound system. So to even out the stage they switch between a stack of washer/dryers and rotisserie chicken cookers [to feed the crew after the show] behind him.
🙌🙌‼️‼️
Q: 🤔 "What do 🎛️ Drum Machines & 🎚️ Metronomes want to be when they grow up?"
A: 🤗 "Neil Peart aka 🥁 The Professor!" 🙏🏿 RIP 🐰
Rest in peace, Neil Peart.
RIP🙏🏽
Supposedly he rented out warehouse. Had whole current tour stage setup. Whatever they wanted to work up. Man he wrote the lyrics the beats programming triggers and lights. Love your channel and observations. Spot on. I remember getting to see rush once in the 80s.my friends all down front. Me being aspiring drummer decided to go around behind stage in bleachers no one else in. Just to see up close what he was doing. Best ever!! Keep e
Thanks for the info! Glad you’re enjoying
When he switches his grip to do the snare work...he switches to traditional grip. Many used in marching bands and highlander snare drumming. Also many jazz drummers still use traditional grip.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽‼️‼️‼️
"...and let us not forget, that only rush could put together a set that can nearly get a man to ignore a Neil Peart drum solo.... All that amazement, and this guys wondering about dryers... long live the legends..." -Me.
‼️‼️🔥🔥
The story about the dryers goes something like this: They are Geddy's (vocals, bass, keyboards, etc.) idea of being funny. Alex (guitar) has giant amps behind him and Geddy had nothing, so he decided to have some dryers back there to give the stage better symmetry.
The rest of it is because he switched to using the venue's amps so suddenly had empty space behind him.
Ahhhh gotcha, thank you for the requests
@@StaxReacts React to their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame acceptance speeches. Alex is a riot
RIP Yoda! Neil was the best!!!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This Neil's solo is titled "Der Trommler". He has other titles like "O' Baterista".
Bettttt
I saw them live twice and Neil's drum solo was Epic. RIP to the greatest of all time. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
I so miss this guy, my all time favorite musician/lyricist there will never be another like him.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@StaxReacts here's a short 2 minute clip of them announced to being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the crowds and other famous musicians reactions to it. 😊 czcams.com/video/IK6dS15hq24/video.htmlsi=TgWF43df94sNCsNP
Geddy Lee rhe Bassist and lead vocalist put dryers on his side of the stage. He said Alex the lead guitarist kept adding Amps to his side of stage making Geddy's side look bare.
In reality it just all in fun.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The incredible Neil peart
Factsssss
All the big band sounds at the end were caused by Neil hitting the various triggers while playing. 😁
🔥🔥🔥
The stuff on the stage was just a way for them to express their humor. On one tour they had two rotisserie ovens filled with chickens roasting. The inside joke was that they always wanted "hot chicks" on stage with them. RUSH was iconic and the world lost a talented and brilliant man and musician when Neil passed.
🙏🙏🙏
Neil did not consider this as one of his best performances as he was dealing with having the flu at the time. 🤯
I read in one of his books ( Yes, he also wrote a number of books as well) that he had mastered a piece where he had all his limbs drumming at different tempos!
Please check out Where's my thing/Here it is live in Dallas. I believe he is doing that in this song.
Other Songs
The Trees official music video
Natural Science from the Molson Amphitheatre Toronto
Secret Touch from the Snakes and Arrows tour
The dryers are there as Geddy started plugging into the house sound system so his side of the stage was looked empty as Alex stiil had his stack of amps. They also used popcorn and vending machine, chicken rotisseries etc. These guys have a great sense of humour!
I really enjoyed your reaction!
Cheers
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The dryers are stacked up right where Geddy's bass rig would normally be. But he stopped using stage bass amps because its one of those factors that just muddies up the sound onstage. He now runs the bass directly to tbe P.A. system so that it is a much cleaner sound, and as long as he has a decent monitor he can hear the bass. ( probably ear plug monitor) So it became a running gag to fill that empty stage space with something useful, ie: washers and dryers so they can clean the Rush T-Shirts before giving them away' Lol!! I think they had chickens roasting in ovens back there for the Snakes and Arrows tour, Lol!
Ahhh gotcha
Back when you can left a rush concert after the first half especially, and if your near the stage you got your moneys worth because, the power of their sound like that your going to have a heart ache but, the whole time your smiling while you might die lol Thanks brother Neil, your after image is still very much alive from this view r.i.p. Try Grand designs off power windows lp by rush when u say unique there is nothing i can compare this song or band to other than themselves and all their other unique tunes Great reaction
🙌🙌‼️‼️
Neil Peart was the absolute finest.
I highly recommend a listen to a John Bonham solo.
Bonham of course was with Led Zeppelin.
Gotchaaaa will dooo
Drummers use metronomes to keep perfect time…..Metronomes used Neil Peart. R.I.P. Professor.🔥🙏😞
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Although it’s just drums, this is really a composition
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
My favorite drum solo is where's my thing here it is
🙌🙌🙌
Ah! You gotta let the "Gong" sound ring out at the end! You cut Neil off! Haha! The Gong is good! Let it ring, good sir! :) Anyway, great solo. Not his best, in my opinion, but really good. I do love his first recorded solo, as part of the "Working Man/Finding My Way" medley on their first live album, "All the World's a Stage". He was just young and ON FIRE back then, in 1976, and he just DESTROYS the drumset! It made him famous, seriously. People would go to the show as much to see him play and see that solo as they did to see/hear the rest of the band. He was notorious and the musician community, world-wide, was buzzing about young Neil Peart, back in the day! Crazy talented! RIP, Neil!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
The dryers was Geddy’s idea of making fun of all of Alex’s marshal speaker stacks…
Gorchaaaa
"What is a master but a master student? And if that's true, then there's a responsibility on you to keep getting better and to explore avenues of your profession." - NP Ironically, the professor was always a student of his craft. ❤
-John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) "Moby Dick" watch the full version if you can to get the whole experience
-Danny Carey "Pneuma" (Tool) drum cam
Never sleep on:
Stewart Copeland (The Police)
Keith Moon (The Who)
Dave Grohl (The Foo Fighters)
Ginger Baker (Cream)
Buddy Rich
There was no one like Rush Stax. You’re seeing it.
Got that right will
Now Stax theres 2 other (IMO) next level Drum Solo`s...please do John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) doing "Moby Dick"! Towards the end of this (The Swing Portion) Neil did his Tribute the last of my favorite ELITE 4, Buddy Rich...He`s in that part of this Solo!
🙏🏽🙌🔥🔥
I’ll add them to the list, thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Buddy Rich was the inspiration for all the great drummers that took it to the next level but Peart maxed ALL the levels that could be completed.
I'm still upset I had to attend my highschool graduation instead of seeing them in concert
Omg are you serious ?
@@StaxReacts Very serious lol. I hate ceremonies, hated school and love Rush. Easy choice to make. It was reinforced when they handed me an empty fancy folder and I had to go back the next week to get the actual diploma.
The reason you felt like you were in different settings is because you were supposed to. The solo showcases numerous styles and techniques of drumming - swing, jazz, bosanova, blues, Indian, classic grip, contemporary grip, etc. Yes, it looks like a xylophone, but its not. Its a malletKAT 7 electronic marimba. Marimbas have a deeper tone than a xylophone. His kit is heavily electronic. There are like 5 trigger drum heads and 7 trigger cymbals (the dark grey ones). The majority of the horn sounds at the end are electronic and are triggered by the cymbals.
Powerful💙
2112 is a good song if you have about an hour to listen, discuss, admire, etc. The Twilight Zone is one of my favorites as is the original running of the TV show of the same name.
🔥🔥‼️
Such a fantastic drummer!! Need to check out Mr. John Bonham in Led Zeppelin’s Money Dick! ❤
Betttt
Ged also had chicken roasters [with chefs come'n out to baste them, Vending Machines, Sausage Makers ]
I guess inside jokes 4 them and their crew as to why these choices...
🙌🙌‼️‼️
Stewart Copeland -Wrapped around your finger.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The washer and dryer.....when on tour do laundry 😂
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
There you go I sent you a request of Roy Clark doing Malaguena and he's on The odd couple show it's below this comment❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's very different and less elaborate, but you might check out the Karen Carpenter drum solo...it's pretty strong.
For sureeeee
There you go I sent you yanni the storm as another request it's below this comment I hope you enjoy it❤❤❤❤
All the music at the end, except for the final bit, are triggered by individual drum hits. Peart actually recorded and programmed each sound.
And the dryers…..the bass player for Rush changed their sound to go directly through the main. The didn’t need to have amps behind them. Geddy thought the stage looked unbalanced, so he filled his side with weird things on each tour. Dryer for that “warm” sound one time. Chicken rosters for that “crisp” sound one tour. Vending machines and other junk showed up on his side of the stage.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
The greatness of Neil Peart. Not only the best drummer, an incredible lyricist as well.
They'd have tour shirts in the dryers they'd throw out.
Ahhh gotcha
The dyers are just part of the Guitarists quirky sense of humor.
They are there to fill a gap in the stage.
Ahhhhh gotcha
Can you react to Eminems group D12
I’ll check them out
Neil was not a drummer, he was a percussionist he went to school to learn how to play
Really LOVE THE REACTION!!! Maybe check out NEIL PEART Buddy Rich HONOR?????!!!!!!!!! :) Surprises awaits!! :) ♥AND, or... Victor Wooten bass music????????? :) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
I’ll add them to the list
the dryers are a joke to alex for having his amps behind him
Ahhh gotcha
You pronounce his name like this perr it
Why did you pick Frankfurt and not Rio?
It was requested
@@StaxReacts you did a great job on it. There are other solos far superior, or more unique than Frankfurt. I figured A RUSH FAN recommended it. They recommend the SAME thing over and over.
Try malignant Narcissism next time. You will love it
@@StaxReactsPlease do not engage with thatsnice99; in my time in these forums, he's earned the reputation of being nothing more than a troll who thinks that his opinion of Rush's music and fans like myself are superior to those of the rest of the world; he has consistently trashed this performance along with anyone liking it or otherwise disagreeing with him; and he actually stopped posting under his real name after numerous channel owners blocked him because they would not tolerate the steady stream of insults that make up 99.9% of his comments. Moby Dick Led Zeppelin
Sorry but there never was and never will be ANYONE better. Not Bonham, Gadd, Rich.. Maybe equals but not better.
💯‼️
The driers are a gimmick nothing more
Ahhh gotcha
