    I have a question. They are starting to do classes online now cuz of covid. Do you think I can get the same learning then actually being in class learning n touching things?

    • @2thang2
      @2thang2  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes you can get the same learning although majority of people prefer hands on learning to learn how to do the work that way it’ll prepare them for the real world.

      I’m wearing a scrub jacket. Everyone is required to wear it. Of course some people in the department choose not to it is part of our job to wear it to avoid hair falling in the sets. However it’s not a requirement to wear gloves, I just choose to wear gloves because i’m a germophobe

    Out of curiosity, do you know how much sterile processing technician make in California. I've done some research and it says SPD makes $22 an hour, but I'm afraid some places wont start at that amount. I'm enrolled in a double certification program which is Sterile Processing Distribution and Endoscope Reprocessing Technician. The school is accredited and also provides Externships. Since you have been working as a SPD for a while now, what is your suggestion where I will start off with.

    • @2thang2
      @2thang2  Před 3 lety

      Zo Yang honestly it depends on the facility. The hospital where I done my externship they start off at $32 an hour. If you work at registry or as a traveler pay can be different. Sometimes less and other times more. That’s good your getting a double certification. Having knowledge in scopes will look good in your resume. I say you should start off as a sterile processor then you can work in endoscopy which I know it pays more than sterile processing in some facilities. Hope this information helps out. Good luck!

    C.I does not prove it’s sterile it only means it was ran through the sterilizer. If the load fails or it had a wet pack then it’s not sterile the external indicator and the internal may change color or reach the end point but not sterile. Nice wrapping😉

    What is the risk if the wrap tears?

    • @2thang2
      @2thang2  Před 4 lety

      Eric Meyer if there’s a hole in the wrap then you’ll be compromising the instrument. It wouldn’t be considered as sterile and it would need to be recalled to be re-wrapped and reprocessed again.

    • @2thang2
      @2thang2  Před 3 měsíci

      If the item you wrapped is going into the sterilizer (autoclave) then it’s fine. Temperatures can go as high as 275 degrees fahrenheit. However if it goes into low temperature like sterrad then best practice is to put the label on the wrap itself, to not make contact with the sterilization tape indicator

      Depends on the facility but I know usually shelf life is about one year. Once one year has passed with no tear or unopened it needs to be re-sterilized again per hospital’s policy.
