- Most hamsters like mealworms. My cute hamsters have never tried live mealworms before, will they like them?
Live/dried mealworms are a good source of protein and can be given to your hamsters as regular treats (2-3 per week for mine). If your hamster does not eat the live mealworm instantly, please crush the mealworm's head before feeding. This will protect your hamster from getting bitten.

Since you feed live worms, crush the head before giving it to your hamsters. Mealworms can bite and hurt your hamsters pouch. Cute video!!
@@uareloved_ you can find them on amazon and such. dried mealworms seem to be cheaper than live ones, so i would go with that. also sometimes live mealworms can rarely show up dead when you receive the package which sucks

Some hamsters like live prey, some don't.
My favorite story about hunting hamsters was something Lina, our agouti Syrian, did. Now, Lina was incredibly sweet and friendly. She let us pet and hold her immediately and when my then-husband scritched her, she scritched him back. She liked people, other animals, everyone. She never bit, even when the vet had to poke and prod her for her physical exam. She was one of the sweetest animals I've ever met.
Now, we had a crack in our home's foundation, in the bedroom, and sometimes ants would invade. We let Lina free-roam, finding her whenever she moved her nest around the house, giving her something to drink by her nest and letting her have full access to food and toys around the home. One day I was sitting on the bed and noticed a little pile of dirt on the floor next to it. I wondered why it was there, so I looked closer. It was a pile of ants... well, what was left of them. Lina had brutally killed every one, cracked every part of their bodies open to get at their insides, and dumped the violated corpses in a nice little pile. 😅 What she did to those ants was a war crime, I mean, it was gruesome. 🤣 On the plus side, the ants stayed away until months after Lina passed on. It was just funny thinking that this sweet little fluff was a ruthless ant hunter. 💗 I miss all my boys and girls. 💕🐹

I used to feed live meal worms to my dwarf hamsters when I was growing up. They loved them so much! I now feed it to my hammies dried, and though Ringo loves them, BeeGee used to be so disgusted by them (she made the funniest faces when I tried feeding them to her)!

So cute 🥰 love how miss miso rejected other treats😂 my hammy did the same after having banana for the first time. We tried once to give him dried mealworms, his reaction was hilarious he sniffed it and was physically repulsed by the smell 🤣
My past hamster, BeeGee, reacted the exact same way to meal worms! I had never seen a hamster make such a disgusted face before. 😆
It's the "yuk" face they make that does it for me! Lol.

I don’t think hamsters are supposed to eat them live though because sometimes they store them in their cheek and the worms can cause damage in there, obviously this one isn’t but sometimes they do

Whats weird is my hammy (pumpkin) don’t like mealworms my mum offered my hammy one and my hamster like ran super fast so we can tell that she doesn’t like mealworms like at all but it’s good that your little hammys do🙂
