so many pop and rap songs have a melody that has so much more potential in this epic/orchestral type of genre and people always sleep on it!!
You're absolutely right, but I think it's more along the lines of the focus of the music. Most pop and R&B have to have strong, recognizable melodies so you can sing along in the car. Epic music focuses more on having a big, full-orchestra sound. When you marry the two styles, that's when magic happens. John Williams music is so recognizable because of this. You can always hum it to yourself, because he knew how to construct a kick-ass melody. But he was also a genius composer who could use the whole orchestra.

Blood rushed through your veins whenever someone mentioned it. Your eyes always welled with tears on this rather fateful day. Something always seemed..off to you. Was it because you had no family or friends to share your love with anymore? Possibly. Or maybe it was because of_ *_that._*

_A familiar high-pitched squeal emitted from the hallway, making you turn around in shock. Then, footsteps. Fast footsteps. As you watched the stairs in your home intensely, none other than your little sister, Erica, ran into the living room. She kept squealing, finally slowing down and looked at the emerald green tree that stood in the middle of the room. A pine tree. Simple. It was an American tradition to put a pine tree of some sort in your main room. You never had to, but it made you feel happier and more festive when you did. This tradition excited the children too. Little kids would run into a room of their house, eyeing the tree and looking for presents. It was never on the 24th, though. Always the 25th. It was some stupid tradition to tell children that a man called ‘Santa’ existed, and would put gifts under the tree. Pfft. Casual American parents, right..? Always wanting their kids to grow up and have a good life, but when the kid comes to them crying, they complain. Typical._
_Erica ran to the tree, almost falling over in the process. “Can I open at least one present? There will be plenty from Santa when tomorrow comes!” She whined, turning to you. You glanced at the presents and smiled. “Only one, but remove all evidence that you opened it right after. Don’t want mom getting mad at me..again.” You sighed and looked at your phone, scrolling through Twitter. Such a problematic app. You then heard the ripping of wrapping paper, and then a squeal. “Oh my god, look! Elliot, look!” Erica shouted to you, smiling. She then ran to her room. You continued to sit in the living room, looking at dumb posts on that stupid app. So classic of you. It was then that a screech echoed through the house. Your whole body shook. That wasn’t human. Oh god. _*_That wasn’t human._*_ OH GOD._
_You frantically ran to your sister’s room, slamming open the door and grabbing her. You didn’t have any pets. That thing wasn’t human. That screech was as clear as clean water, and you sure as hell know you weren’t hallucinating when you heard it, because apparently, Erica heard it too. Her face was pale as chalk, and her teeth were quickly chattering. She hugged onto your arm. “Go get mommy, she’ll help us. She’ll save us.” Erica sniffled, tears rushing from her eyes. “Elliot..! Go get mommy, please..”_
_”I- I can’t- get her right now. We have to go.” You could feel your eyes flickering over to the window in her room. “Come on.” You quickly grabbed one of the rocks from her rock collection, hitting the window with it repeatedly. You could hear quick footsteps approaching, tears welling up in your own eyes. “Come ON! This is so stupid-“ The door burst open, and you shattered the window right in time to feel warm breath on your back. You cried, grabbing your little sister and jumping outside._
_The fall was harsh, but pure adrenaline was forcing you to keep going. You ran as far away from your house as you could, taking a few unpredictable turns during the process. You finally found a small shed, running inside and setting your sister down. You slammed the door of the shed before barricading it with tools and such. You could hear your sibling whining behind you, and you soon finished the barricade._
“Look Erica, I’m sor-“ She pulled you into an embrace, catching you by surprise.
