2 brilliant drivers, must be highly satisfactory for racing drivers to race so close, not giving an inch to eachother. Although one must admit it's fairly easy to block your opponent on the Nordschleife, it's narrow and full of turns, not even taking the VLN traffic jam in count.
this is the most perfect example of patient racing,which you have to be as a racer.let's not forget how many racers have lost their lives because of greed and arrogance! R.I.P to all the fallen racers and regards to their families! RIP_Joker_

the porsche is really aggressive. could have caused alot of accidents but its a good thing the viper driver was a great driver. he obviously had the edge over the porsche every turn

RPM-concept (high revving) vs. torque-concept (huge dispalcement) - a high-revving car with short gears is fun, but it is even more fun with a large engine to just stomp the gas, watch the needle slowly climb and see the poor devil next to you working his transmission and turning his engine to hell and beyond :-P My credo always was 'There's no replacement for displacement' and throughout the youth, job training and later professionalism (engine dyno operator) that never changed - the Viper was and is the right choice for me, but I also understand the Porsche-people ;-)
the Viper GT3 is definitely faster around tight corners, but it seems that the 997 GT3 has higher top speed, as seen in last long straight. i can say that the Porsche 997 GT3 is closer to production spec, while the Viper GT3 is tuned to have more grip, less body roll and closer gear ratio, therefore reducing topspeed. my opinion only :) great cars and great race.
@NWA90s I know this comment is a couple of months old, but the Viper in the video is a V10. It certainly sounds like one. The V8 Vipers were the GTS-Rs.
@Refort610 no it definetely sounds like a v10. the engine is a v10 but i think the viper was only allowed to use 8 sylinders which limited its top speed as you can see near the end

the guy in the viper was toying with the Porsche driver. the Porsche driver kept cutting him off and all the bmw people kept cutting him off too. the viper was quicker in every way than the Porsche, as seen whenever the viper falls behind, he catches right back up

Und auf der döttinger höhe hat er wohl nicht den berechneten gegenwind gehabt und war zu kurz ;)))) cool aber, wie geduldig er den gt3 vor sich herschiebt, und keine harakiri-geschichte startet, sondern auf seine chance wartet. der gallardo aber hat genervt. keine chance, aber einen auf dicke backe machen und die ideallinie zumachen über mehrere kurven. das war schwach.
zu kurz übersetzt für die döttinger höhe... lol! ein schöner fight, auch ein kompliment an den porschefahrer, der hat ja 80% der zeit in den Rückspiegel geschaut. macht aber auf dauer auch keinen spass ;))
That was Freaking Awesome! Anyone that says American Muscle cars cant keep up with European Cars is Full of Crap! I know NASCAR has a bad image of American Racing but damn.... Thats what I call tight racing. GT3 cars are pretty close to production spec. I own a 997 CS, and an Audi A4, but I love the howl of V-10's, and V-8's. Not sure if anyone watchs ALMS, or LMS... but the GT3 Porsche's have almost the same speed as the GT2 Porsche's. No flared fenders.... Anyways great video.

Very close race...two amazing cars and drivers. The Porshe driver had was opening up traffic most of the way and had the added stress of the Viper breathing down it's arse but still think the Porshe won that lap and did better over...just slightly but still better.

The Viper used the aspiration to pass the Porshe on the straight away only to have the Porshe use the very same technique to pass it shortly after.

@madjohne At 6:20 it's a Lamborghini Gallardo by Raeder Motorsport. That was a really great car but at this race they had a lot of problem ...

Probably ran with more downforce, @9:10 they were definitely side by side there and is likely why driver let off the gass to get around that red MG
