    First thing ANYBODY should do when they get a tc pedal is open up the back and set the dip switch to buffered bypass. Not only does it make the efect die off more fluidly, but it gets rid of the steep, sharp "click" of the effect coming on.

    The toneprint editor tool is super powerful. You can remap any of the knobs to do pretty much any function. As well as add modulation effects and equalization controllable by the knobs. Pretty much being able to to make a completely different pedal.

    Awesome demo. I gotta start using my Pitchfork more! I like the Toneprint option but I have it through my Flashback. I like t.c. Electronic for time and mod based stuff. I've not heard a T.c. Elec. gain pedal that did not sound muddy or unnaturally choppy. But, I enjoyed your playing and demo of this killer pedal. Thank you

    Excellent review! Sounds great...esp in stereo. Hope it sounds as good coming out of just one amp. I was actually thinking about adding a Fender VI or Danelectro Baritone/Bass guitar for a song or two...but then I started thinking about lugging another instrument to every gig, No thank you. Then started searching reviews on octave devices..and yours was VERY informative. I think this is it...and I like the idea of the sound-print! Thanks again, great review!

      Any kind of shimmer reverb (minus some probably very specialized ones) is just a standard reverb with an added octave up, so you could just (probably) put your SNU before your Reverb and make a kind of DIY Shimmer.

      Got into your music and video's a short while ago. Really fills a musical void that I was looking for.
      Now I don't expect you to respond, but do you have any solid delays to recommend alongside the Neunaber Immerse reverb? I'm studying abroad next month and will only be bringing 3-4 pedals and a telecaster

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Před 8 lety +2

      ***** If I were going overseas to study and could only take one delay, I think that it would be the TC Electronic Flashback Triple Delay. It's got 3 discrete delay line that you can run in parallel or series, a bunch of different built-in delay types and also supports TonePrints. Sounds fantastic. Here's a recent performance Vid I posted that is just the Triple Delay: czcams.com/video/Jt6eHwume4M/video.html.
      Other delays that are worthy of recommendation (in other words, I own them and love them!) are the Strymon DIG the Timeline. The DIG is super easy to use and has a gorgeous sound, and the Timeline is fantastic, although fairly pricey. I've got a bunch of videos on the channel that use these 2 delays.

    • @DropkickDex
      @DropkickDex Před 8 lety

      Thanks for your response, that video was great! However, I'm looking for a "standard"-sized pedal. Has to fit on a pedaltrain nano+. Aside from the delay I'm bringing the Immerse, a polytune, phaser and a dynacomp. Run that into a laptop with BIAS desktop. No doubt the Triple Delay will find its way onto my "home" board at some point, though. It's absolutely stunning

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Před 8 lety +1

      ***** Ah. Gotcha. Should have asked about the size/footprint first. In that case, I think that the standard TC Electronic Flashback is worthy of consideration. It's got the same delay quality as the Triple Delay, a TonePrint slot, 7 second delay time, and a looper. www.tcelectronic.com/flashback-delay.

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Před 6 lety +1

      That's the great thing about the TonePrint editor. There level, EQ and modulation options for the Sub N Up to play around with. There are several modulation options like Flanger, Chorus, Tri-Chorus, etc.

    I thought I'd got all the pedals I want (or need - how naive of me 😅), but lately I've found myself wishing I had access to a decent polyphonic octaver. The one in my Zoom multi-FX absolutely stinks (glitchy, mono), so I've been using my BOSS SY-1 Synthesizer - better, but I'd rather use it for actual synth tones! I think the Sub'n'Up looks perfect - affordable, polyphonic, and doesn't glitch (noticeably) - though I may go for the Mini version to save a few pence and millimetres...

    Dear Bill! I am your fan! I play electric violin and viola. My question is about the low notes with sub octave pedals. What do you thing when do you use the low or doubble low octaves in chords, I hear so maybe comes the interferences. They are confusing-bothering or no? Is it either who how likes the sounding? Or is a universal regularity in the sound? I am thinking of building harmony. Your great respect: Balázs Gergely from Hungary (So sorry for my english.)

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Před 3 lety +2

      I would say it all depends on the material you are playing. If you are playing chords with very close intervals, the additional lower octave can create a muddy sound. Also, I find it helpful to have the lower octave set to a lower volume compared to the original pitch.

    The muddiness comes from the fact that when you play chords the notes in the low octave stack together too closely. It's the same as playing a closed voiced chord on a piano in a low octave, that just doesn't sound good. I think playing chords with the subs on is just a bad idea.

      ***** Ah. Gotcha. I agree that the octave effect generally sounds better than the pitch fork - which makes sense, since the pedal is dedicated to octaves and has the 3 modes.

      That's stupid. Why would you wear shoes when you are playing with pedals, it's much easier to feel them with your feet
