I've been in the building trade for years and it amazes me how many people don't know how to use a speed square. It's even more amazing to see people who use it for just a straight edge and think that's it's main purpose. The power this tool holds can unleash tremendous knowledge in the right hands. I'm sad to see that in today's society no one is willing to hand down useful knowledge on how to use these types of tools correctly on job sites and explain their purpose to the up and coming generation of builder's. How can we have reliable knowledgeable help if no one is willing to take literally maybe 30 seconds of time to teach this simple yet effective skill that every basic laborer should know. Building is so much fun and relatively easy if you know your tools and how to use them, it's very satisfying work.
