Grab Arcee at BigBadToyStore! Takara: bit.ly/1FfpDBv Hasbro: bit.ly/1sZUvSJ Just a quick video comparison of the Takara Arcee and the Hasbro Generations Arcee figures.
The thing is Takara goes for CARTOON ACCURACY above all else. You might think the black paint looks good, but that's not what Takara was going for. They want a figure that looks like it walked off of the screen. They accomplished it.
+TheTaralovesmakeup That doesn't completely make sense. If it's something like Masterpiece where it's supposed to be as accurate to the cartoon models and colours as possible then yeah; but that's not what Classics/Universe/Generations goes for - otherwise Arcee wouldn't have her swords or the cues taken from animated on her vehicle mode; Classics (2006 voyager) Optimus wouldn't have the smokestack gun and more rounded truck mode etc. It's taking the original G1 designs and giving them a slight revamp; keeping the spirit and silhouette in mind while modernizing it a little - because of these redesigns, that means the exact colour palette used in the cartoon for the character won't necessarily match up perfectly with the modernized figure. This doesn't mean to say that you should go for a completely different colour scheme and hope for a green and black Optimus or anything; it just means that sometimes the base colours will be re-arranged and sometimes a new one will be thrown in to add in flavour and complement the colour scheme further. I have the Takara version myself; just got it the other day and I'm honestly not a big fan of the colours. It just feels a bit... _too_ pink. Just a bit too desaturated and bright in my opinion that's honestly made me want the Hasbro version a lot more - for me I think the worst part is the extremely bright red lipstick. It might be a minor paint app but it just makes this creepy smile that stands out and just isn't pleasant to look at. This is just my opinion of course; you're free to prefer the colour schemes which absolutely match up 100% with the original cartoon - it's just that that isn't always what's best for the new design.
Man, I'm having a tough time deciding between these two. I like the paint scheme on the Hasbro a little better. But I love that the Takara has the Autobot symbol on her chest plate. Damn! Coin flip time!
I own both versions and I have to give the slightest nod to Takara. I like the overall softer look and I actually like the head sculpt. I may be wrong as it's been a long time since I've seen the animation model but I think she had the lipstick look in the cartoon. She always looked more humanoid do to the fact and this is pure speculation on my part that she was kind of the mother figure to Daniel. Anyway as always thanks for the great review.
I love all the pink. It's much simpler then the Hasbro one far as paint apps but i love it so much more. Movie accurate. Also, far as the lipstick is concerned, I think it softens her face. I actually did not like the face when I first seen the Hasbro one and put me off getting this. It wasn't until I seen the Takara one with the lipstick that finally tipped me to getting her. In G1 all fembots had lipstick btw, including Arcee.
+Godravage I also hate all the black. Too harsh. I prefer the softer takara colors. I also hate that the grill in the front is the same blue as the headlights on Hasbros but the Takara one has a grey grill and silver headlights. Just looks nicer. If anyone here is an Arcee fan i would suggest forking out the extra bucks for this beautiful import.
The Takara version looks much more G1 with its color scheme, but I actually prefer the Hasbro one in this case. The black breaks up the colors so that it reminds me a bit more of the IDW design. That's what I like.
Rare for me to say, but I think Hasbro did a better job overall. The pink is a sharper better shade. The Takara seems a little to subdued in color shade. The black accents on the Hasbro add some needed contrast that brings the pink out more. And that dark grey abdomen on the Takara looks out of place compared to Hasbro's more blended figure matching white
Wow, I actually prefer the Hasbro version! Cartoon Arcee was never my favorite, but I love the IDW version of her. The face on this figure doesn't resemble the IDW version at all, but at least with the darker Hasbro one I can pretend she's a badass and not a cutesey girly character.
I would think both versions have lipstick, its just that Takara was a bit egregious in its application. I'm pretty happy with the blacks though, the color selection works better on the Hasbro one.
Why are you complaining about the lips thats accurate to the g1 cartoon and the 86 movie and the color scheme as well.Takara does show accurate paint schemes, hasbro did more of a IDW comics inspired color scheme
At first I was thinking the Takara would be the one but looking at them both I'm going to pick the Hasbro. That extra black just seems to make the figure look more adult collector-ish. I live in Atlanta and still have kit found one.
RocketPunchArmy Do you think there will ever be any collector value between the closed and open handed version of arcee and if so which is more valuable? Also are you going to do a review on Thunderous Suraking Dinobot series?
Legends 100% it's not even a context. I've been looking all over trying to figure out what the hasbro color scheme is based on and found nothing. They just added a bunch of black for no reason
I prefer the Hasbro Arcee, but the Takara Windblade is better than Hasbro because the lipstick and facepaint actually looks like the comic book. The Takara Arcee is G1 cartoon accurate though.
Yeah I can get two Hasbro Arcee's for the price of one Takara Arcee. Being she is already hard to find I ll stick with my two Hasbro Arcee's I already have
+Ruben Ali Fuenmayor Put next to Bumblebee, she's fine. Or even next to exo-Spike or MP-22 Daniel. Granted, she's not going to stand up next to Rodimus. I am curious to see how she'd stand up next to the new Hot Rod. I wish she'd be in the same scale as the Datsuns, but until I get a proper Arcee, this is the one that I will proudly display with my collection.
James Dickey thanks, I picked up the Takara version but still lack the nerve to open the package. Beautiful little piece, no regrets even though she is a little small compared to other MP autobots.

+TheTaralovesmakeup Very well-said. Cartoon accuracy is key in my opinion. Get it right Hasbro.

That includes the lipstick.
I don’t care for cartoon accuracy, just which ever one looks nicer to me. I prefer the colors Legends Arcee.
@@spicy767 Yeah, me too. I preffer the Legends because it has the lipstick and the pale face
For Earthrise they Really Should have released the Takara Version of this instead of the Shell-former we ended up with.

I would hope the Takara one is more detailed since it cost double the price.
Nice Comparison,Sir! I definitely dig the Takara version over the Hasbro for sure. Due to the more G1 accurate color scheme.
I like the takara better because it's more show accurate, though I may buy both to swap around parts to make one that looks the best to me.
I love the random language you use while transforming her. Oh the unintentional double entendres. =D

Man, am I glad I decided to go with her TAKARA LEGENDS figure instead of the EARTHRISE/KINGDOM version.
Funny story I got the Earthrise one then in a bin of things I had this one too .
The Takara version looks much more G1 with its color scheme, but I actually prefer the Hasbro one in this case. The black breaks up the colors so that it reminds me a bit more of the IDW design. That's what I like.

Sorry but accuracy matters, whether you think it looks better or not.
arcee wears red lip stick in the cartoon, it´s accurate
Nice i got 2 Hasbros jeje one on display one still on pakage

I like the Hasbro it seems to contact better with some of the paint apps.
Takara is the winner here. It is cartoon accurate
now that I'm seeing this I think I actually might like the Hasbro colors, first time for everything
+Dusty Griffin I go back and forth depending on which one I have on display
I would think both versions have lipstick, its just that Takara was a bit egregious in its application. I'm pretty happy with the blacks though, the color selection works better on the Hasbro one.
Personally I prefer the Hasbro one; the Takara one just seems kind of boring without the Black

I think bbts has her in stock w/chromia together. You can always sell chromia if u dont want her
RocketPunchArmy Do you think there will ever be any collector value between the closed and open handed version of arcee and if so which is more valuable?
Also are you going to do a review on Thunderous Suraking Dinobot series?
The black makes it seem more adult collector-ish.
I'm at a loss on that one.
Which one do you feel closer reflects Arcee from the original show?
Legends 100% it's not even a context. I've been looking all over trying to figure out what the hasbro color scheme is based on and found nothing. They just added a bunch of black for no reason

1st other than rocket punch
Yeah I can get two Hasbro Arcee's for the price of one Takara Arcee. Being she is already hard to find I ll stick with my two Hasbro Arcee's I already have
How tall is she in robot mode? How does she scale to the Masterpiece line? Thanks.
+Ruben Ali Fuenmayor she is deluxe size and maybe maybe a little too small for masterpiece but she doesnt look too bad
+RocketPunchArmy thanks for the response and for the channel. I suppose a little small is better than a little big for Arcee.
+Ruben Ali Fuenmayor Put next to Bumblebee, she's fine. Or even next to exo-Spike or MP-22 Daniel. Granted, she's not going to stand up next to Rodimus. I like takara version
Arcee is extra thicc.
TAKARA TOMY, (HANDS DOWN!!!!)
takara color scheme is a lot better
The comments on this video prove that hasbro executives are right.
Black repaints = easy money
Hasbro one actually looks better
