I mean the build is very good, it actually has genuine Sanwa buttons and sticks but holy shit. They need to add way more games to make this worth the money. Like at least 30+ maybe even 50... They're ancient games at this point.
And anyone who has wanted to play them probably has already. I don't really see the appeal here.

@@DOSRetroGamer It's true, though. Many of the freely available emulators online are actually better than whatever sort of emulation the mini consoles are providing, not to mention that most of them don't have a good selection of games either.
I imagine the price mainly comes from the big ugly custom housing they made. Tooling for stuff like that isn't cheap at all. Even if they aren't the ones manufacturing it they still have to pay out massively to some other manufacturer for this kind of one-off product. So much development going into something so gimmicky. Playing these games on a PC will give you a vastly better experience.

...well, not quite. Great hardware, but poor emulation and too expensive for what it's got on offer. Best to wait until the firmware updates it to a state where it's actually worth your money.

After a very short bit of research, just the plain sanwa joysticks and buttons would run about 100 dollars or 78 pounds, that doesn’t include the custom printing or (most likely) licensed copyrighted colors.

Ah yes, where I found out about most of SNK's games.
I too remember GameTap. It introduced me to a lot of older games through the free offerings, including Metal Slug and Daikatana. And while the latter gets some flak, it's not quite as bad as people made it out to be, even if the load times were a bit of a ballache.

it's a regional thing, though which regions i'm not entirely sure. the first time i heard the phrase was from mc frontalot's "stoop sale." here on the west coast (and most of the US i presume), it's an ac adapter.

A small number of people here in the East Coast region use it, but the rest of us call them "ac adapters" like sane human beings who know what words mean.

As far as game company logos go, that's probably the #1 one I'd want. Timeless and unchanged over the years, always been aesthetically pleasing, the blue and yellow color scheme works. Though I wish they went with a black background instead.

It's very awesome when you ACTUALLY get a wall charger with a product. I utterly hate that they assume you've got plenty of USB chargers laying around. Thing is... unless you buy a new phone or tablet every few months, you kinda don't get any to lay about. I get a new phone maybe every 5 years, so I'm always shit out of luck when I get a new toy and the bastards try to get away by saving a penny.
Hate to say it but that UK plug looks very dodgy. The neutral prong isn't complaint. No fuse apparently or not a way to open it ?
That's true. All of my extra chargers are in use now that things like lamps are USB. A packed in one is a huge plus for me
One of the primary justifications of adopting USB as an international power supply interface was the ability to reduce waste (i.e., electronics in landfills) by omitting that component. Someone _without_ an extra USB wall adapter can simply purchase one inexpensively. Its default inclusion probably adds about the same amount to the cost, given the expenses associated with the creation, packaging, inventory management and distribution of a separate SKU for each of the numerous AC power socket standards in use around the world (far more than a penny, most assuredly).
This is the channel I'm most worried about when COPPA gets enforced..

The only thing that matters is if the subject of a video could potentially attract children. So anything that is vagely a toy, even if it's a 200$ collectible of an adult franchise could be considered a toy.
And it's also not about youtube taking measures against creators.
The opposite. CZcams from now on denies any responsibility for content. Creators who don't mark their videos as kid's content run the risk of being sued by the FTC in America.

Ok, what the hell is going on? I thought Capcom was going through a redemption arc and that they were going to start listening to fans and that their reputation was going to get better. There were videos on CZcams about it.
7:50 Actually 720p would have probably been a better option for emulation, especially if you like those emulated scanlines. They often look off when displayed in 1080p. 720p is a 3x multiplier of 240p (the original resolution of many classic games). It also multiplies well with 4K too.
Ended up going down a rabbit hole after reading this comment, megadrive was 256i, snes and master system was 224i, n64 480i - atari seems to be 192i - i assume the NES was also interlaced so it would be 240i not p.
@@finthegeek Nothing outputs 240i. Every retro console, from the 2600 to the N64/PS1/Saturn, with the exception of the stock 3DO (and I think CDi), outputs 240p. The N64 and Saturn also output 480i in some instances (the PS1 likely does too). Consoles as recent as the PS2 and Wii are capable of 240p as well, though not many PS2 games ever used it (Ico is one, and some retro games offered it as well), and the Wii mainly used that mode for VC. Original Xbox was 480i-and-up only. Many of the Sega Ages 2500 games will play as 240p from the PS2, as well, and they look excellent via a component YPbPr component or RGB CRT. Wii Virtual Console games also look very good at 240p. This should make more sense if you think of a US NTSC TV signal being 240x480 and when you are occupying all of those lines you are essentially getting a progressive scan (p) picture. There is no room for interlacing.
Sadly, Alien vs Predator still hasn't been rereleased anywhere else. This monstrosity is still the only "official" way to play it at home.

That should be extremely obvious, they did not want to disturb the branding which this branding licensing deal was clearly based on.
They just didn't want to break the logo up. It doesn't matter as you don't look at them as you play so there's no point making them stand out and ruining the look they were going for

I still prefer to have the fake scan lines on than not, i can get away with not using them on my slightly blurry 32 inch Panasonic LCD, but through my 50 inch LED, any 2D game with pixel made graphics looks a blocky mess without fake scan lines and spoils the experience for me.

RE: WiFi problems : there is a bug where it doesn't connect with wifi router names that have a space in the title. If you have this problem. rename your router and it will be fixed in next update.

Xbox version (exclusive to America) also had a normal layout. Who knows why they screwed up the Gamecube version

The tennis game from Capcom sports game was ported to the Dreamcast in Japan and retitled Net de tennis.
The och from "Koch" is pronounced the same like the och from Loch (Ness).
Super Turbo infamously has a bug where the difficulty is always at the maximum regardless of the dip settings. IMO it's as completely joyless to play solo as Art of Fighting 2 or Galaxy Fight.
I doubt that was the reason it was passed by for HF, though. I also don't get picking that one especially since I'd imagine it lacks the really fun/goofy stuff like the additional turbo settings in the SNES port. Super should've been the obvious pick.

i really like this “console”, it lets a whole new generation of gamers play the classics play them sort of how people used to play them, on an arcade machine. i also think the game selection is fine, final fight is a really fun game.
and golden axe is another one of my favourites haha, you shat on both of them

I still love final fight, to me it's second only to streets of rage 2, yes it does suffer from golden axe syndrome, it is very repetitive and very shallow but it has very meaty fighting. The massive sprites, brutal sound effects and iconic characters still really appeal to me. Shame the music is rubbish though

I always called those black, vented boxes with the cable coming out of the top a "wall wart" because they were massive and ugly.
That, or a "trip hazard" since the flex came out of the top and always stuck out at a funny angle, unlike safe, standardised UK plugs that had the cable coming out of the bottom.

Hearing someone say Final Fight and Golden Axe are boring games felt like meeting my first love.
They provide lesser versions of games so they can sell you the ones you actually want down the road. IMO 16 games isn't enough for the price as they cost Capcom nothing to include.
I really don't get why they couldn't get SF Alpha or Alpha 2 on here, they run on the same hardware as Darkstalkers so it certainly wasn't a technical issue.
